10 AWESOME THINGS ABOUT SUPERCOACH 2015

Written by Motts on January 19 2015

THE COUNTDOWN is on to the launch of Nissan AFL SuperCoach 2015 — and there are plenty of extra goodies to look forward to in 2015.

From the end of this month, SuperCoaches will be able to start selecting their teams for 2015.

And if the thought of hand-picking your own side as you go head-to-head with your mates wasn’t enough reason to get involved, then a huge boost in prizemoney and a range of new features and game enhancements will make SuperCoach more fun — with a bigger reward — than ever.

As Coach Crawf says: “That’s what I’m talkin’ about!”

1. MORE CASH

Who doesn’t like the chance to win a bunch of cash? This year the overall prize will be massive while more players than ever will be rewarded through an expansion of weekly prizes, with prizes to be boosted for Herald Sun+, Courier Mail+ and The Advertiser+ members as well as Fox Sports digital subscribers. A full announcement on cash and prizes will be coming soon. Stay tuned. You won’t be disappointed.

2. FASTER AND FRIENDLIER

SuperCoach will be faster and easier to use, no matter what device you’re on. An improved mobile site and apps mean you can play SuperCoach anytime, anywhere, with full desktop functionality. The sign-in process has been completely rebuilt so you spend less time logging in and more time playing the game.

Your team will also have a new home ground in 2015 — the new SuperCoach homepage will present all the SuperCoach and fantasy news that matters to you, plus a beefed-up activity feed where you can play mind games with your friends and receive breaking alerts — if Gary Ablett tweaks his hammy in the warm-up, we’ll let you know!

3. SUPERCOACH CUP

Our new last-man-standing knockout competition sees users who qualify compete against another user until the final round when the overall champion is crowned. That’s just one of the fun new games that will enhance your SuperCoach experience.

4. NO MORE ROUND 23 DISASTERS

You’ve worked all year to perfect your line-up for your SuperCoach Grand Final, only for AFL coaches to rest half your team and ruin six months of work. We’re not putting up with it any more. After listening to the fans, the 2015 SuperCoach private league season will start in Round 2 and culminate in Round 22, when skill can decide your league champion, not luck.

5. SUPERCOACH VOICE

Got a question about your team? Who to trade or who to name as skipper? Put your question to the SuperCoach community and get the jump on what other SuperCoaches are thinking. Vote, comment and share in our very own easy-to-use fantasy chatroom. There’s also a new Twitter account to keep you up to date with the breaking SuperCoach news, stats and selection tips — follow@SC_Insiders to stay a step ahead of the pack. [Motts: or better still post your question on SCT or ping us @SC_Talk]

6. LIVE SCORES WHERE YOU NEED THEM

Live SuperCoach scores will be available for the first time in the match centre on the SuperCoach site. Herald Sun+, Courier Mail+ and The Advertiser+ members as well as Fox Sports digital subscribers can see how every kick, goal and turnover affects their score as it happens.

7. MORE LEAGUES

In 2015 coaches can take part in as many as 10 leagues — up from five in previous seasons — meaning you can accept all those invites in your inbox. There’s also the option of forming 10-team leagues if you like to keep things more intimate.

8. LESS RUCKS

There are on-field changes, too, which are set to make 2015 more exciting than ever. There are now three midfield bench slots and just one in the ruck to reflect the way SuperCoach and the real game is played. When was the last time a team went into a match with four ruckmen? And when was the last time your fourth big man got a start in your SuperCoach side? Instead, we can now pick another cheap midfielder to help build the bank for those big trades.

9. SCORING CHANGES

Champion Data has tweaked the unique scoring formula that makes SuperCoach the clear leader in fantasy sports games. Sticking with the philosophy of rewarding players for actions that make a real difference on the field (not just meaningless kicks and handballs like in other games), there is now extra reward for ruckmen who can direct hitouts directly to a teammate. That means big men like Sam Jacobs — who led the league in taps to advantage last year — are worth every cent.

10. NEW DUAL-POSITION PLAYERS

Those three little words SuperCoaches love to hear: Dual. Position. Status. Dane Swan (now a midfield/forward) headlines a list of players including Brendon Goddard, Brett Deledio, Paddy Ryder and draftee Christian Petracca who’ll help coaches find that perfect balance in their squads this season.See the full list here.

There are more great features in the pipeline — watch this space, and don’t miss the chance to be part of Australia’s biggest and best fantasy sports game in 2015.

  2. To early for rate my team? Haha but seriously anyone have any training reports? From the Eagles LeCras, Lycett, Shuey & Nic Nat are flying. On the flip side Darling, Selwood & Hutchy are still recovering from injuries.

  3. The cricket has been good……………But missing the footy like i miss a VB, like i miss a good T-Bone, like i miss the Aussie accent, like i miss well…anything Australian. Living o/s has it’s perks, but no place like home!

Playing Supercoach and reading this site, keep me that little bit more sane.

  4. “Effect on game” multiplier has also been halved, from a max of x4 to x2. I wonder if this means the end of those rare but occasional 180+ scores… Potential to impact on the Selwood, etc match winner types averages?
