2010 SuperCoach Competition is OPEN

by Duck on January 31, 2010

There’s already been a fury of emails coming my way this morning and the depositing of all important competition funds has been made into Motts’ account.

Team selection will begin sometime later today once i’ve had time to digest the 2010 SuperCoach Player List.

I’m keen to hear any and all suggestion for must inclusions and must exclusions, in the comments below,  as you start to shape your team.

Good luck and may your team be a winner this year!

Gary Ablett – IN ($744,200) …. almost 1/10th of the salary cap already gone!

Thanks for being the first to pay, Duck. Competition administrators love prompt payers.

Big early call on Gazza. Just can’t justify the price tag myself but I will probably come to regret those words.

The big questions for me revolve around blokes who are cheap but have proven themselves to be injury risks: Sean Rusling, Jarrad Waite, Josh Hunt, Tadgh Kennelly, Beau Waters, Nick Malceski…..

Useful info Motts …. will be sure to consider that during team selection. Injuries pose as big as threat as anything in this game …. doesn’t matter hos good the bloke is if he’s not on the field week in and week out.

The headache of 2010 Team Selection begins!!!

Something to note in the new comp, Duck:

NOTE that in the 2010 competition, players who are actually named and in the starting 22 for any match, AND score a 0 for any reason, will NO LONGER be replaced by an emergency. Their 0 score will also have an affect on their value, being recorded as having played a game.

How hard does that make it??

Actually, after reading this again it doesn’t look like too much of a departure from the current rules. Its only when a player gets named on game day and has something drastic happen in the first 5 minutes (eg ACL tear) and gets 0 that you don’t get coverage for him. Otherwise last year’s rules still apply.

Shaun burgoyne is a steal and even brad daziell at a new home on the big subi ground is another good bargain in the midfield. i reckon hurley in the forward line could do alright as well

Will take that on board Tappy …. good to hear some tips from other punters. Will be trying to stay away from emotional / historical picks i’ve had in the past and get some fresh new blood in the team.

S Burgoyne IS a steal, tappy. Thanks for the heads up. Dalziell had already made his way into my mids – memories of him tearing up the Brisbane midfield a couple of years ago in his first season combined with a $350k price tag made him an automatic selection. Hurley’s reasonably dear but showed a lot of promise last year – you could also slot him into your backline to take full advantage of the price rises sure to come with boys like Austin Wonalphabetti, Jack Watts, Patty Dangerfield and Taylor Walker up front.

Rookies / Emergencies is my biggest issue … picking cheap guys that will get a kick. Suggestions WELCOME.

well duck i reckon brad sheppard from W.C and andrew Moore from Port may get some early games for your backline. I’m gonna wait and see for my midfield but Dustin Martin or Bastinac look ready made, and the obvious trengrove. Or even throw in kane lucas who is a bit cheaper then them. talia from crows i may throw in along with gumbleton which i think is a must have at his price. i think i have found an absolute bargain in my midfield with mark mcveigh at only 342’000, could be well worth the risk

Jobe Watson, Prismall and Brent Stanton, All them boys have been training hard and have all bulked up, and i have heard Stanton is in great shape might be a good punt, But my money is on Watson with a better midfeild this year he will be a gun
