  1. Few things to watch for

    – Mills in his midfield role
    – Blakely 166k fwd and Hatley 144k mid
    – Zac Williams

  2. Only first quarter – but I’m locking in Williams and Coniglio!! Maybe even Ward over some of the other much vaunted mids!!

    1. posted that too quickly – also a comment there by the commentators that they expect Whitfield to play a type of Mr Fixit role for the Giants and play all over the field this year where needed (with Williams back and emergence of Coniglio and taranto etc) …. that put a bit of a dampener on things ….

  3. Jeeze now I understand why non-owners of Lloyd were so frustrated last year – I’ve barely seen him yet he somehow is leading the Swans in Dreamteam points? Seems a bit like Bont where he gets points for thinking about the footy!

    1. He won b&f last year and runner up in 2017 , so sydneys coaching panel must see something they like as well!

    1. He still can have big games every now and again, he just doesn’t consistently put them up anymore since he’s not the main distributor out of their backline now.

    1. Need more convincing to actually pick him in Supercoach, but he’s a star in the making. Could end up easily being the best player from that draft.

      1. I think he will Ben. As a bomber, I think Giants might have trolled us- McCluggage was supposed to be the number 1 draft pick and Giants made it clear they desperately wanted McGrath…..So they traded their way up to number 2, but bombers took McGrath @1. Giants then ignored McCluggage and went with Taranto. Was that their plan all along? Well played if so.

        1. Don’t get me wrong, McGrath and McCluggage will be guns in their own right, as will SPS and Setterfield (no bias I promise) but I think Taranto will be the best of the bunch.

    1. haven’t heard anything yet mate … fingers (and everything else!) crossed that he is OK … he was everywhere tonight when on field … also looked like he may take kick ins too … the other side is I’m not terribly sold on Whitfield now … bit of a concern over his role moving forward!

    2. I don’t think his ankle was of any concern, pretty sure him not playing in the second half was purely precautionary.

  5. I do tend to agree, whitfield’s role was very concerning. He and Williams seem to swap roles in the 2nd and whoever plays that fwd role looks to be worse off. I’m also worried about Whitfield after having him all pre-season, I’m strongly considering sicily, in particularly with his rnd 12 bye

  6. Does anyone know why Williams was moved forward in the second half ? The same thing happened in the practice game the week before . If we can be confident he stays down back and Whitfield doesn’t shuffle him around at all, surely his a lock after his first half last night ?

  7. Anyone have any insight into Hately ? Didn’t watch the game but scored 101. All the expensive midfield rookies are looking good so far. Walsh, Butters and now Hately.

    1. He was good. Found his own ball , can tackle, and is good with both foot and hand. Showed he can score a goal too so this will help his job security . I had him in my preJLT team so no surprise. Kelly back , he may not play the same role in Mid, so take the 101 with a grain of salt.

    2. Add Constable, Gibbons, and hopefully Bailey Smith and Brett Bewley to that list and we could have quite a lot of fantastic MID rookies to choose from round 1. We also still have the likes of Ely Smith, Nick Hind, Tom Atkins, Jye Caldwell, RCD, Will Hayes, Bailey Scott, and Liam Stocker, who could all still potentially challenge for a rd 1 spot in their respective teams. A huge upgrade from the rookie drought that was last season!
