3 Weeks Of Disruption Are Over

by Duck on June 24, 2012

How’d you survive the last 3 bye weeks? Did your strategy pay off or were you left wondering what went wrong?

What do we think a good score this weekend is? Anything 1750+?

An average of 1727 over these three weeks, a lot of underperforming lads this week, especially Michael Johnson who was on debut for me.

I’m just happy we don’t have to go through these 3 weeks again.

5/5 league wins this round making that 15/15 over the 3 bye rounds, also came in over 10,200 spots on the overall ladder in the 1st 2 bye weeks!

5297 points over the 3 bye rounds at an average of 1765.66 per week

1568 for me this week.
4 donuts + Gibson’s 9, Clarke’s 18, Shaw’s 39 & Crozier’s 40.
Strangely looks to be a touch above average as it was the 4th best score in LoEC1 (unluckily for me I came up against the top scorer!)
Disappointed with some senior players in Clarke, Harvey, Priddis, Broughton(Ross Lyon).
Hindsight says I should’ve traded Giles this week as opposed to next as it looks as if he’ll drop a decent amount in value with his 54 today.

Was 4/4 coming into Sunday with the tipping taking it to 12 consecutive correct tips, but went with GWS and Adelaide today :(

Hey Motts, nothing to do with supercoach, but do you reckon you could get a poll going for the top 8. Just because it is so close this year, I think it would be interesting to see what people think! Not positions or anything, just the top 8 in general…

P.S. Don’t worry if you can’t, I know you don’t give out your polls easily ;)

Going to be so close. Just went through the ladder predictor on the afl website. Was generous towards the mighty Hawks but to show how tight it is, when I gave the Hawks the four points against Collingwood in RD17 we finished 2nd and the Pies finished 5th. When the result went the other way Hawks finish 5th and the Pies finish on top.

I did the predictor too Fish. When I finished the top 4 (Collingwood, Sydney, West Coast and Adelaide) were all on 68 points. Now if that isn’t close enough, 8th through to 11th (St Kilda, Carlton, Richmond and Fremantle) were all on 44 points! Looks like it is going to be a fight to the finish for the top 8!

All I can say is thank F#@K the byes are over, thank you North for beating the Crows (but screwing my multi) leaving my beloved Bombers in 3rd spot on the ladder and thank you very much to all those who decided on “throwing” round 3 to allow me to take 5/5 league wins with such a piss poor score.

Still managed 4 from 5 wins with a score under 1500. It just aint Supercoach! Luckily beat The Hairy Cat in the end thanks to a slow starting Scott Thompson and huge finish from Sam Shaw  .

Big shout out to Team Dane/Dayne – Swanny as Captain on debut, Beams keeps on flying and I’m still happily doing the Zorko. Also have to mention Jobe – The Year of The Fish and Essendon would be nowhere near the same teams without him.

1550. Looks like that was enough to put me in top group, raised me from 18000 to 14000. And now I’ve been estimated at 2500 per round on the way home. All prem now except have to pick Darley or Shaw on the track as my D7 as almost out of trades.

Could just wait for the trade talk topic but looking at what i can do with this team now.. Got 369k spare already. Looking to go shiel to ablett and dahlhaus to patton. Firstly because dahlhaus is awful and was the worst pickup ever, but also it gives me more than enough to move bugg to carrazzo next week as well as tons of spare cash (160-170k or so depending on andys drop this week) to do one more upgrade from one of my remaining depth players to a super premium (eg cameron to beams or danger, or smedts/pfieffer/sam shaw to someone a little cheaper such as christenson or goodes) somewhere down the road. Sounnnnddddsss good? How about if i tell you completing all of that leaves me with just 1 trade for injuries? (5 left atm)

Not a fan of the Dahlhaus trade at all. Considering you’ve only got the 5 trades remaining, I’d just be doing the Shiel > Ablett trade this week, leaving you with $109k for a Bugg > Carrazzo (or Fisher if you can’t afford Carrazzo) the week after Rd14. This will leave you with 3 trades for injuries, which I guarantee you’ll need all of them.

Don’t think you have enough trades left for another downgrade, and I don’t believe you need it anyway. Dahlhaus is a mighty fine young kid who showed a lot in the first half on Saturday.

took a gamble on him when fyfe went down and he had his 150 game and another 100 i think following or something and his b/e was tiny, but since then he’s given me absolutely nothing, so inconsistent and really dont feel he is a player to take to the end. carrazzo is someone i really want but in order to get him bugg is going to have to score well and he will have to score below 80 which i dont see happening, this allows me to do that and also sure up another spot. sure injuries could destroy me but it is only a fantasy game so if youre not taking risks whats the point.

No worries, my opinion is there to take it or leave it. I just don’t think SC will be much fun when you have to ride out 2 months (including SC finals) without any trades up your sleeve, especially when injuries hit and coaches start resting star players. You could end up with more donuts than the bye rounds.

team before trades this week looks like this:
def – deledio, goddard, waters, lake, mackie, bugg, dempsey. (ellis, shaw)
mid – watson, thompson, pendlebury, barlow, priddis, shiel (pfieffer, gibson)
ruc – ryder, giles (redden, longer)
fwd – franklin, sidebottom, tippet, pavlich, rioli, dahlhaus, zorko (cameron, smedts)

with those trades im thinking i can move to:
def – deledio, goddard, waters, carrazzo, lake, mackie, dempsey. (smedts, shaw)
mid – ablett, watson, thompson, pendlebury, barlow, priddis (pfieffer, gibson)
ruc – ryder, giles (redden, longer)
fwd – franklin, sidebottom, tippet, pavlich, christensen/goodes, rioli, zorko (cameron, patton)

everyone should get me atleast 80+ every round and ive got good depth with cameron and patton (can move zorko to mids for pfieffer should that need depth and play cameron). that level of depth would allow me to avoid injuries to anything less than a 600k player, and still win most games. Otherwise i avoid the depth and just go for cameron at his peak to dangerfield and be even stronger with less depth.

I Have only 2 left for LTI but have
Lids, Goddard, Birchall, Johnson, Mackie, Lake, S.Shaw, Darley, Wrigley
Ablett, Swan, Watson, J.Selwood, Mitchell, Priddis, Adams, S.Gibson
Cox, Giles, Redden, Patterson
Franklin, Sidebottom, Danger, Hale, Bruest, Zorko, Cloke, Hall, Pffifer
What do people think. Have I done enough?
I am 1st in my league, and beating Shane Crawford will be reward enough

Uncel Dolan June 24, 2012 at 11:59 pm

lol shanes team is awful. but your team is decent hale and bruest probably arent the best options but will most likely be enough, the biggest thing i notice though is that the bottom of your backline is empty. sam shaw isnt good enough to be your D7 i would think, but i guess it just depends on the strength of your league and id say a team like this will be good enough to beat most public leagues.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

I agree Shane’s team is bad, 50 G is the only decent other team in my league. I like Hale in my team as he works well with Pattison if I need a backup ruck, and Bruest I bought in for Pods 6-7 weeks ago. Didn’t expect to have him all season, but he has been super consistent.
Yes by D7 is the last problem. I have Shaw and Darley as possibles, but if no LTI comes along then I’ll upgrade them as my last 2 trades Final time.

For anyone who is interested, the team my ‘brother’ and I made before Rd3 prior to all the price rises happening is coming along quite nicely. (It helped getting all the good rookies on the bubble). Obviously just trading hard, gunning for the $1000 weekly prize.

Deledio, Goddard, Suckling, Birchall, Lake, H.Shaw, Dempsey
Ellis, Spurr

Ablett, Mitchell, Dal Santo, Pendlebury, Swan, Priddis
McDonald, Crozier

Maric, Naitanui
Redden, Stephenson

Franklin, Chapman, Cloke, Harvey, Martin, J.Riewoldt, O’Keefe
Zorko, Hall

4 trades left & $145k in the bank prior to any trading action this week.
Obviously going to be very difficult at the selection table each week with Zorko demanding an on-field position.

May upgrade J.Riewoldt > Dangerfield($62k swap) and Dempsey > Carrazzo but other than that I can’t really do much more. Looking forward to finally fielding the full strength team.
