Game Chat – GWS vs Gold Coast

Written by Thommo on June 9 2018

WHERE AND WHEN: Spotless Stadium, Saturday, June 9, 4.35pm AEST

The under-fire Giants pulled off one of this season’s biggest upsets when they beat the Crows for the first time in Adelaide last week, and the Suns will need to find their own response after being mauled by the Cats in their return to Metricon Stadium. Leon Cameron’s team was ferocious in laying 96 tackles against the Crows, with youngsters like Tim Taranto, Daniel Lloyd and Zac Langdon leading the way, and Stephen Coniglio, Josh Kelly and Dylan Shiel dominant around the footy. In contrast, Gold Coast laid just 41 tackles against Geelong and if it turns up with that lack of effort against GWS, it could be another ugly loss for the visitors. Gun forward Tom Lynch doesn’t have a great record against the Giants and the star Sun needs to win his battle with Giant Phil Davis to give his side any hope of a positive result this week. After halting their four-game losing streak against Adelaide, the Giants will be keen to maintain their momentum ahead of their round 13 bye.

R2, 2017, Giants 24.16 (160) d Gold Coast 8.10 (58) at Spotless Stadium
R20, 2016, Giants 14.8 (92) d Gold Coast 13.6 (84) at Metricon Stadium
R8, 2016, Giants 22.17 (149) d Gold Coast 9.4 (58) at Spotless Stadium
R16, 2015, Giants 13.16 (94) d Gold Coast 12.7 (79) at Metricon Stadium
R4, 2015, Giants 16.23 (119) d Gold Coast 7.11 (53) at UNSW Canberra Oval

Thommo’s Tip – GWS by 36 points.

  2. Langdon on the bench last round goes BANG, have him on field this week due to outs & BANG….back to his normal self running in circles chasing kicks

    1. DId you bring him in? I saw a few people talking about him this week. Great choice/POD if so mate.

  3. Have 19 players and thought I could avoid nank poo……then along comes heater. Mind you..ball probably not been down there a lot.

  4. Can someone tell me why my Team page shows Heron on field, but the gameday page on the SC website shows him on the bench?

In fact my bench appears to have 9 players on it! What the hell SC?

  5. Jeremy Cameron is so frustrating. I carried him all season to finally dish him this week and he gets 150+ points. He could never do anything against a decent defence… Thanks for losing me $107k
