Shaun Higgins (AC joint) and Mason Wood (quad) successfully returned to the senior side against Brisbane, while Thompson will have to pass a fitness test for his fresh injury. Tom Murphy (ankle) resumed in the VFL and played three quarters, as did Majak Daw (pelvis/hips) in his third game back on Sunday. The Roos held Garner out of the VFL last weekend to ensure he would be fit for a potential shock AFL call-up this week. Nick Larkey will continue to play before undergoing minor post-season heart surgery, after being diagnosed with Supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), but Jacobs‘ season is predictably over. There is good news for Tyson, who is no longer ‘to be confirmed’ and could feasibly return this weekend if declared fit. – Marc McGowan

Co-captain Wines is an outside chance to return for Saturday night’s clash with Greater Western Sydney at Adelaide Oval. Wines will train with a splint on his fractured thumb, but he’s more likely to return next week. Houston will have to pass concussion tests this week after sustaining a head knock in the Power’s loss to Richmond. Ebert won’t play again this season unless the Power make the finals with a torn PCL in his knee, while Burton will miss at least a month with a hamstring injury. Rookie-listed forward Cox will see a specialist on Friday to see if he is a chance to return this season from a lacerated kidney. – Lee Gaskin

Early prognosis

Tiger fans may have to wait another week for mid-season recruit Pickett to make his debut, with the midfielder listed as unavailable. Weller missed last weekend’s VFL match with a rib complaint after being added to the injury list early last week. Moore and Ross continue to hover around the 3-4 week mark, with the club being cautious with its young talent. – Sarah Black |

Franklin is at least another two games away after feeling some soreness last week, while Sinclair had season-ending surgery on Monday. In good news for the Swans, unlucky ruckman Sam Naismith will play in the NEAFL this week, his first game since 2017. – Adam Curley

McGovern looks set to be cleared to take on North Melbourne this Saturday after tweaking his ankle late in the win over the Demons, but Hurn looks more doubtful due to the calf tightness which kept him out of that clash. Vardy and Ah Chee were running strongly last week and shouldn’t be far away from returning, ditto for Hutchings, while Cripps has also started running. – Travis King

Forward Schache sustained a concussion after a heavy landing in the third quarter of the loss to St Kilda. Half-forward Richards is a chance to return to the side after missing last week with hamstring tightness. Injury-riddled utility Lukas Webb has been taken off the injury list and will be eyeing a return for Footscray after their bye this weekend.

Friggin calf’s s#$t me!! I panicked and traded Hurn for Dureya, when he was a late out ,even though I had cover!! Derailed my whole season. What was I thinking, and no Gawn. Traded Logue for Whitfield and spent the leftovers on Hill.Left me with one trade. Covered on all lines now.
Come on North Melbourne., get your act together. I want your injury list compiler sacked immediately. I’ve had enough of the poorly formatted list each week. Us members deserve better!
I should probably add 😉 to make it fully clear it was all in good humour.
It’s okay, RB. You’re a Roos supporter. You’ve suffered enough over the years.
If I can’t afford Whitfield this week, is Houli a worthy alternative?
TU: go for Houli
TD: burn an extra trade, get Whit
Will Dylan Clarke get a week off this week
V the Suns
no one really worth tagg’n
bombers will probably be confident of winning easily
Nah, ………he’ll probably play on the wing and tag the runner and medical staff for training……LOL
hearing Cripps has a lingering foot issue ,
maybe the next one @ the blues , shelved for next year
lots of talent on that GWS list
