Game Chat – Port vs Freo

Written by Motts on August 25 2019

Where and when: Adelaide Oval, Sunday, August 25, 4.10pm ACST

What it means for Port Adelaide: The Power will be relying on other results going their way to remain in finals contention. It could come down to a percentage-boosting win over the Dockers to secure eighth.

What it means for Fremantle: The Dockers are playing for pride after losing seven of their past nine games to end their finals chances. A strong performance is what they need heading into next season.

The stat: Adelaide Oval is a graveyard for the Dockers, who have won only once in eight attempts at the home of South Australian football. That solitary win came against Adelaide in round nine, 2015. They’ve lost all four Adelaide Oval games against the Power.

The match-up: Connor Rozee v Adam Cerra

The fifth overall picks in the past two drafts will see plenty of each other in the next decade. Rozee is the Power’s leading goalkicker this season with 27, while Cerra is improving playing off half-back having had 24 disposals against Essendon last week.

It’s a big week for: Bradley Hill

The Dockers star could be playing his final game for the club with a reported move back to Victoria on the cards. He’s been in All Australian form this season and will be a massive loss for the Dockers if he does leave the club.

Big call: Travis Boak and Nat Fyfe to both have at least 35 disposals.

Mottsy’s Tip: Freo by 10 points

  2. Literally need Walters to go down immeadiately and score 0 if I want to beat Hot Sauce and win my SCT League.

      1. He’s projected 122. If he can score 180+ (once this year if memory serves me) he could save my bacon in a couple of GFs. But I also need Mundy and RGray to have quiet ones.
        Not inconceivable 😉

    1. Well done GD. Good luck.

I am on 2677 with Fyfe score to be added. Highest score ever for me.
I have won 4 of 5 GFs. The other my opposition needs 235 points from Boak and Gray combined.
Forget that, I just looked at scores, both are having a shocker.

      1. Nice work, CT.

The guy who butchered his E’s, what would he have scored if Gawn and Laird were actually on his field? Would he have beat you?

        1. Thanks GD.
With his 316 points on the bench he would have scored 2763.
I scored 2785. I would have won regardless. What a surprize he he was projected to beat me by 150 points. LOL.

          1. In another league my opponent had his VC on Whitfield but the only player he had on his bench available was Logue. I was shocked that he had a trade left and traded Logue to Watson a non player for Freo So he could get Whitfield’s captain score… He took the C off Neale to do this!!!! I only won by 29 points.lol.What a strange round.

  3. Last decision for the year(not in any gf, just trying to finish off), put duursma on field in place of gray, I thought surely my old fave robbie would finish well. So now I am sure gray is done in sc.

    1. Think so, Bruce. This year has put the red line through a lot of SC favourites; Gray, Sloane, etc.

  4. Lycett v a combination of 2/3 of Mundy Boak and RGray May just win me 3 leagues. All bar Contribs if I’d put the C on him.

Just wanna say a huge congrats to Matthew, Chips Ahoy!, “Small Victories” for panning me in the SCT Contribs GF. That’s the one I was really chasing and never got close. I’m not sure even the C and Gawn would have got me up!

Well done mate, and can I congratulate you also on the starting Tram for SCT Tech League. It made for an outstanding competition. Thanks mate and congrats again. Way too good 😉

    1. you got me AS thanks to poor showings by Boak, Gray and Mundy … thought I had you until they played … particularly Gray … cannot believe I had him in my team even though I argued strongly earlier in the year that he was a no go as too much in the forwards … damn! well done mate!
