A Swan In The Hand?

Written by Motts on April 26 2013

Assume you’ve got the VC on Dane Swan this week and given the C the Gary. Swanny went out and scored 127 yesterday. Do you take that by exercising the captaincy loophole? Or do you risk it on the assumption that Gaz is going to go postal on the Giants?

Does your opinion change if it’s Pendles with his 136? Or Zaha with his 140?

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

  1. Had pendles as VC. Had Cox last week as captain and Ablett smashed out a 130. Not making that mistake again. KING Ablett to score 150+

  2. I have the V on Pendles, but i’ve always been a gambler, so why change.
    Gaz it is!

On another subject, with my limited knowledge of this game, is Heath Shaw a good bet from next week onwards, now that his price tag will drop below the 500k mark?

  3. Got Swan as VC, only thing keeping me off GAJ is his alleged broken hand (Billy Brownless on footy show last night). Still 50/50 on whether to put C on Ablett or Cox or take Swan’s 127. Anyone seen GAJ train this week? Hand look dodgy?

  4. I was in this exact situation. If gaz was playing a decent team, I would bank it.

But he is playing the witches hats after all. So he got the big c, and I rolled the dice.

  5. Last year Gaz played GWS twice and scored a healthy 125 and 126. He may go higher but I think I will bank Pendles.

  7. I have Pendles’ 136. If I had GAJ, I would take the gamble. But I don’t, so I’ll stick with Pendles.

  8. Surprised the vote went to Ablett

My rule is 120 on the VC and you take it

    I’d bank Swan or Pendles

Ablett is averaging 130 and I’ve got a guaranteed 136. Not worth the risk

I may be eating humble pie on Monday if Ablett gets a 350

  9. All of my opponents appear to be putting the C on GAJ this week (including some fella named Motts), so just from a league match-up point of view I think that I will back in Ablett.

Surely he will get 120 against GWS and that is only 7 less than my VC Swan. I’m confident enough to back in the rest of my crew to get the job done with Ablett as a neutral.

  10. Desperately need a win in the cash league so l’ll risk Gary. 130 is my cut off score so swan not quite there.

  12. weather forecast saying fine and sunny in canberra and about 22 degrees max on saturday. even though i have pendles 136 as vc, there is a high chance ablett will go big, last yr avg was 125 against gws.

  13. GWS won this game last year, so I think GAJ and Gold Coast will have a point to prove. I reckon they won’t be thinking long term, they’ll be thinking win at all costs. So I think GAblett could go ballistic

  14. I’ll take 272 from a captain any day so Hanley has the big ‘C’ for the Kelsos this week.

A man in my position can’t afford to take risks!

  15. Just a thought out of left field, G Birchall for the C? 152 last week, projected for 123.. or stick with GAJ

  16. Knowing my opponent has Ablett selected as captain makes me uneasy. I have Swan as VC but to make sure I am not burnt, I must follow suit.
