  1. D – Stewart, Houston, Doedee, Roberton, Young, Gould (McLennan, Rivers)

M – Macrae, Neale, Cripps, Dunkley, Oliver, Rowell, Pickett, Mead (McHenry, Hibberd, Robertson)

    R – Grundy, Gawn (Cameron)

F – Martin, Heeney, Greenwood, Smith, Flanders, Rankine (King, Comben)

Like this structure and don’t mind being one short in defence if both Doedee and Roberton get up for round 1.

    1. Super solid team mate well done! I can’t manage not to start Doch myself, but not starting him may actually be a pod move in itself. Good luck with the planning Luke.

      1. Cheers DR. Doch still a chance pending pre-season. The bloke has been out of the game for 2 seasons, might take him a while to get back to his best.

Keep the YouTube videos coming mate, loving your work.

      1. Yeah Whitfield is a risk move, he will be top or top three fwd’s. Even if he doesn’t make anymore value you can’t surely miss his scores

but if you have a specific structure that add value elsewhere, then stick to it, cheers

    1. Played around with NicNat at R2 my concern is Grundy/Gawn are so far in front of the next rucks points wise and wondering how WC will manage NicNats minutes. Not convinced I could make up the 20 – 30 points with the 250k saving.

Bonar is a watch for me and Titch isn’t quite right yet so he’s an upgrade target for me.

      Solid team Mav.

      1. thanks for the reply Luke i do agree with everything said Hill along with bonar is also risky will watch his pre season very closely but both fantastic value if they can get going but will be downgraded to rookies if there pre season form is below par so not too worried mate..

I’m also a bit wary of nicnat his minutes and his run with injuries but he averaged 93 once he come back in 2019 on 60ish% TOG last season which is huge so its the risk v reward situation. I just hope nicnat can avg say 5-10 less than gawn (IF fit) and i should make up the rest with that 250k comfortably.
I’ll be watching S.Jacobs, English, R.Marshall & ROB all very closely in JLT though I feel like there all offering value along with nicnat.

    2. Nice team, but I think you are playing with fire with Nicnat and not Gawn. Nicnat injury prone. Grawn allows you to c loop either for 19 of 23 rounds if Comden is your c loop, and you save one trade which is about $140k.

    3. Well done Mav, nice work. My quick bit of feedback is to maybe strengthen your forward line a bit, as Bonar at F4 worries me a little. You have some solid selections on all lines and overall a good team. Cheers, DR

    1. Jones is an interesting pick, interested to see his role pre-season. If he’s predominately playing midfield could be a great pick as a stepping stone.

        1. Both very similar types competing for the same spot IMO.

“In their neck-and-neck battle Wills would probably be the early frontrunner to retain his place, as was reinforced during the Magpies’ match simulation session on the Monday before their Christmas break.

In front of an appreciative black-and-white crowd at the club’s open training session at Olympic Park, Wills was the standout performer. Sier wasn’t far behind him.”

          https://www.afl.com.au/news/364801/two-magpie-midfield-bulls-one-spot-free-who-ll-come-out-on-top-

Probably agree it’s Wills spot to lose at this stage.

            1. Think the 22 is fairly solid and it will take a couple of injuries for him to get a look I’d think unless he lights it up in the pre-season games. Probably a development year for him in the magoos but he might get a few token games this season if he performs.

  5. I’m not so sure the Set & Forget of GRAWNDY is as clear cut as people make out well not for me anyway…

Last season I started Grundy & Goldy Trading Todd to ROB as my R2 in Rd 4-5 making 400k from that cash I picked up macrae & TKelly and then watched ROB flourish to make close to 400k again before upgrading him to grundy in Rd 20.. it cost 2 trades i made 800k ROB was huge and I still had trades come my GFs so I think it worked out… Can Grawndy be the best ruckman combination for 3 seasons on a row? I’m betting against it and gonna roll the dice

On my shortlist to partner Grundy is ROB, NicNat, English & Lycett I believe all present value and can either finish close too R2 or stepping stone if i’m wrong.

    8

    11
    1. Grundy and Nic Nat atm on the watch list.
Mobility and kicking ability appears to finally be taking over.
The basketball….er sorry, I mean boundary taps will be handled or controlled by interchanges involving the less mobile big fellas. IMO of course.

    2. That’s all good and well Mav, but you need to ask herself “is there another ROB this year?”… We were a touch spoilt last year and I think the short answer is ‘no there won’t be’.

      1

      0
    3. Maverick, last year was one out of the box with Rob. I wouldn’t be counting on it again. Who was the last ruck to make $400k in a season ? The thing with Grawn is you will sleep well at night, and even if not as good as last year, still better than the next best with all respect to Goldy. Nicnat too injury prone, the others for mine, wont get close to Gawn.
And dont forget you can loop Grawn for 19 of the 23 rounds.
Gotta love the opinion sharing on this site….I’ve changed my team a couple of times already reading other’s opinions.

    1. Hey, Vic.

Seems a bit too POD simply for the sake of being POD.

Eg. You’ve GOT to have Whitfield up FWD and half of your DEF premos are hit or miss, need a Hurn/Houli/Lloyd to be safe.

Trim back on a few of those mid-price POD picks and I reckon you’re onto something.

      3

      1
      1. Reckon there’s a good chance all 3 drop out of the top 6 defenders this season.

Can’t see Houli or Hurn staying relevant whatsoever at their price; Lloyd even if he does fall will hover around 6/7th.

        5

        0
      2. Thanks GD. Understand what you are saying.

I Can change 1 POD in DEF for Lloyd but Makes MIDS look weaker on paper.

In The Mids Danger becomes Hanners. This Is alright to me, I think Hanners has regained fitness and should push 105+ until the byes.

Changes in FWD Whitfield for Brayshaw. As a result other changes must follow. Hill and Frampton now become Rankine and King F5 / F6. This is my biggest concern, last year I totally messed up the FWD line at the start. I Really like the potential of Hill and Frampton this year, all depends if they both make RD1 teams.

Yes agreed lots of POD, BUT
with Gibbs MAYBE working off the half back line as reported, great chance for Milera to move to the middle. Glides across the ground, is calm when pressured, an let’s be honest the crows need a spark in the Guts.

Brayshaw, has put on some muscle during off season and is ready for the middle, and with 2 mids moving to other clubs I like his chances. Also most media outlets have him positioned as full time MID for 2020 fixtures.

Both Crows and Freo, have new coach, this means new structure and playing systems. ?

So, this is where I am at this moment until pre-season. When everything will change.

        Good Luck.

  9. Probably version 26 by now… $80k remaining.

DEF: Williams, Daniel, Docherty, Williamson, Cottrell, McLennan (Butts, Gould)

MID: Macrae, Neale, Cripps, Dunkley, Danger, Rowell, Valente, Pickett (McHenry, H. Jones, Hibberd)

    RUC: Grundy, Gawn (Cameron)

FWD: Whitfield, Dusty, D. Smith, S. Hill, Cockatoo, Rankine (E. Smith, Tohill)

I dropped Fyfe for Danger since I think I read somewhere Fyfe would be load managed this year with all their young mids coming through. Danger is pretty much guaranteed to go 110+ and rarely misses games, so he’s a pretty safe pick.

  10. imo your approach is a refreshing change from the template mania that can permeate…as they say there more than one way to skin a cat…

  11. Ugh. Alright, I’ve shilled out for SC Gold and I’ve given the team picker a crack:

DEF: Hurn, Williams, Docherty, Doedee, Roberton & H. Young [Bianco, Gould]

MID: Macrae, Neale, Cripps, Dunkley, Taranto, Rowell, Pickett & Hibberd [McHenry, Robertson, Maginness]

    RUC: Grundy & Gawn [Comben]

FWD: Whitfield, J. Martin, C. Jones, S. Hill, Flanders & Rankine [McAdam, M. King]

Obviously rookie selections are tentative, but generally I like the my DEF structure, got last year’s top 4 totalling MIDS and I’m set on Gawn and Grundy.

However, I get that my FWD line is weak; only one actual premo and I’m rolling the dice on C. Jones and S. Hill at F3 and F4. The other issue is Taranto M5, would have preferred Fyfe, T. Kelly, Yeo or J. Kelly tbh- but with this current set up he’s the best I can afford.

Overall thoughts? Ideas for re-jigging? Cheers.

    1. Looks like only 11 keepers there, not counting Doedee and Roberton who are long shots. Pretty hard to get another one when you have the 4 most expensive mids, 2 most expensive rucks and the priciest forward. I think you need 12 keepers to start. Hurn is also getting a bit long in the tooth, might still go alright though but I have my doubts. You might have to sacrifice a couple of those high priced players to find another keeper.

      2

      0
      1. Trim down to some slightly cheaper premos and upgrade one of those mid pricers to another keeper? Yeah, David, sounds about right.

That said, I shelled out for guys like Macrae and Lloyd in R1 last season and it paid off.

        Will mull it over. Cheers.

        1. Yeh, early days yet. I am worse at the moment, only 10 keepers, and three potential. I’ve picked realistic rookies rather than the cheapest so hopefully some cheap rookies show up in round one.

Think Gawn and Grundy are the way to go so I’ve compromised the midfield for now. Whit worries me, is he worth the extra money when he is likely to get injured at some stage and probably drop in price? He’s in my team at the moment but could be sacrificed for a more durable Dusty and some cash.

          0

          0
          1. Right on, David.. Think Whitfield is worth it though- you’ll hate yourself when he opens the season with consecutive 130s.

I’m now considering a 6 premo MID structure by only starting 2 FWD premos instead of the traditional 3; I just don’t like the options up there.

            2

            0
            1. I made a sample team with 5 premos and Gogs at M6.

Gone with a strong D1 &F1 then some speculation picks in both FWD & DEF. But looks good.?

No trades first 2weeks, then down grade to performing Rooks RD 3 & 4 if it doesn’t work out.

              Good Luck.

              1

              1
            2. I feel pretty good about forwards this year, it’s the defense I’m struggling with. I’m toying with just 1 premium there, but I can’t even find one that is a) guaranteed top6 & b) not overpriced.

For me Hurn & Houli are overpriced due to age and history. Stewart needs another solid season before I’m sold. Laird has history, but Gibbs down back has me cautious. The Gunston injury has me worried for Sicily’s role. That leaves only Lloyd, who I’ll probably start, but he does appear a tad overpriced.

Forwards, I’d bet my house in Martin & Whitfield top 6 and I can see slight improvement (and top 6 finish) from Heeney. Smith & Steven at worst are great stepping stones, at best underpriced premiums. Brayshaw and Greenwood look like strong breakout candidates. And lastly, you have an absolute freak in Rankin (who many thought should be number1) at basement price.

    Shane McAdam $123,900

    Izak Rankine $123,900
    Ben Cavarra $123,900

    Remaining Salary – $46,700

I think there is value in Seb Ross, Dion Prestia and Rory Sloane.

I am banking on improvement from Reilly O’Brien and this gives me a 13/14 bye split in the rucks.

If Docherty comes out all guns blazing in the pre-season then I can downgrade to him.

Staying away from Whitfield because he will be the first player tagged in the GWS due to limiting the rebound from the backs

    1. Not a fan of this team.
ROB is no gawn. You will have to upgrade at some point or accept an inferior team.

You have picked second rate mid premos in sloane, prestia, and ross (maybe even oliver to an extent), which will again mean you will have to strike it crazy lucky or trade 3 or so of them. You are meant to strive for the best players in each pos.

Due to your extreme midprice gambles, choosing just one of steven or smith would be wise.

Same goes for defence with houston and dawson – you are simply counting on too many freak chances to go your way.

Its not all going to happen and if this thread is truly a team rating thread then i have to give you a 6 – 10 at most.

Not meaning to be a cnt. just providing feedback. Have a good season

      1. Don’t apologise for feedback, Fajfj. Gotta agree with your assessment.

Re-assess your midfield premos, TT. You’ll probably need cut back on one of your defenders and invest that money in the MID line.

  14. Cheers Gunboat If Steven Hill looks
Ok during pre season I might bring
him back in to my team at F4 and
then have Dusty back in the forward
line , so I can then have a premo at
    M5.

      1. I would remove Heeney and Steven.
        Then possibly Fyfe or Danger
would be at M5. I’m bit concerned
how Steven Hills body will hold up.
I could possibly go with a team like

  15. Hey guys, I’ve been around just not commenting yet, still contemplating a team to work off.
One thing I’ve looked at this year is Grundy /gawn.
Last year I was adamant in starting them due to those two being clearly the best options then daylight.
This season I’m not so sure. There’s alot of value this year as good stepping stones or breakouts.
Also how long can they both dominate for without something going wrong?
I think you have to start Grundy purely due to loop hole factor. Gawn, not so sure about. Yes you want him, but do you start him?
I’m going Grundy and a $450k type. Upgrade later or hold him. But I’m going 6 deep in the mids to compensate.
    Have fun everyone!

    5

    1
    1. Hey, Tof.

You make an interesting point, consider Gawn’s first ruck match ups: Nic Nat and Hickey, Jacobs, Lobb and Darcy, Ryder and Marshall then Witts.

That said, he touched up every ruckman he came up against last year- including Grundy.

Don’t think I can bring myself to not start him; but I do like the 6 MID premos to start. I’m thinking of going only 2 FWD premos in order to do the same.

      2

    2. I’m with you TOF.
I posted midway up about my shark move although that will not happen again this year i believe not starting GRAWNDY was a great move. I will be looking to start grundy with either nicnat, ROB or english.

Can get a better overrall balance in my team

    1. Forward rooks are a problem as always. You have 2 in Rankine and King who are likely to play but what will they score? We might have to consider a midpricer for the forward line moving the likes of King to the bench.

  17. Hey guys, Shorty here. I’ve been enjoying seeing a few teams pop-up here already, I’m keen as for footy already. I thought I’d post mine here and hopefully you don’t mind me giving myself a bit of a plug in the process haha. Loving the SC community here, keep it up!

    1. Nice one shorty. Mate what’s your views on T.Kelly with his move west. Do you think he can push towards 115+.

Also if you see Devon Smith running through the midfield racking up possessions during pre-season, do you move him into F3 . Or look towards early upgrade.?

      1. Hey mate! Yeh I’m a big Kelly fan, was spewing he left the Cats. But I’m not sure he will push 115, I reckon more the 105-110 mark. Just with the Eagles having Yeo, Gaff, Shuey and Sheed, there’s a lot of points to share around in that midfield. At The Ctas, Kelly would often be the main man in there alongside Dangerfield.

And yeh, I reckon so on Smith, certainly keeping a close eye on him.

        1. heyy shorty long time subscriber mate love your videos & content..
Everyone always makes that assumption that a team being stacked with stars means shared points but i feel that isn’t always the case…
In past geelong, sydney, hawthorn even collingwoods midfield only a few years ago were stacked and everyone scored big…. it is possible to do going on history even look at the dogs atm you could argue a case to start bont, macrae & dunkley? with libba still to have a slice of the pie too…

Tim’s locked in my side gentleman 🙂

          1. Thanks for the support mate! Glad to hear. And yeh you raise a valid point there, remember the days of Swan, Pendlebury and Beams all going about 115+. Certainly can be done, just sometimes identifying the ultra premium scorer can be tricky, but Kelly is a jet no doubting that.

    1. GDay Darcy. Looks a bit risky in you FWD line. Three POD in one line. Change one of them to a rookie, then you can upgrade English. Good Luck

      1. I like english, Vic. are you not confident he can break out too 100+ avg?
If I were too upgrade it’ll be too ROB im not forking out 1.4mil to start Grundy & gawn. Who do you suggest down grading in the fwd line?

        1

        0
        1. At this stage, before any pre-season games, I would suggest Steven.

Nothing wrong with the English pick. If you think he can push 100+ your call . I think you have wasted money, because with the English pick you have plenty left in the bank. It will be difficult, but leave the cash in the bank and start with rookie.

My suggestion with your current team structure , is don’t make changes after RD 1, If one of them (FWD) don’t perform. Keep you first 2 trades for RD 3.

Then if one of FWD not performing downgrade to best rookie with Job Security before price rise.

          Good Luck.

  20. DEF: Lloyd-Houston-Docherty-Doedee-H.Young-McKay (Brander-Madden)

    MID: Neale-Fyfe-Cripps-TMitch-Danger-Pickett-Starcevich-McHenry (Hibberd-Golds-Bytel)

    Ruck: Grundy-Gawn (DeKoning)

    FWD: Whitfield-Dawson-Smith-Hill-Rankine-King (Flanders-Cahill)

I’m currently confident that Houston & Dawson can be top 8 Defenders so when I swing Dawson back I have 4 def keepers including Doch

4 def keepers, 5 Mid Keepers, 2 Ruck keepers, 1FWD keeper = 12 keepers to start, I like that.

What are the weaknesses apart from rookies

    1. I like it, Jack.

Not entirely sold on Dev Smith just yet though. He put up rubbish scores before his injury last year and his role remains ambiguous. Can always switch him with Steven, Buddy, J. Martin, etc.

no dusty is bold and dont mind that i’m not all that gun ho on him myself.
12 keepers is solid a few hopefull B/outs in houston and dawson but there everychance to be keepers like you said..

      1. Yeah Mav I never start Dusty but always end up with him. Sometimes he’s my first upgrade and sometimes he’s a post bye purchase. I had a feeling that his worst games for the year are usually in the first 7 rounds so I checked and I reckon the first 7 are his worst seven for the year.

        2019 2xsub70 4xsub90 5xsub100

with ryder moving on should lycett be considered?

I’m throwing him in my 3 man R2 shortlist along with nicnat, english & ROB

    1. Fragile backline Ben, 3 blokes coming back from serious injuries and Williamson who took 600 days between his 15th and 16th games due to a spinal injury injury and then in his 17th game he injured his spine again. You can probably dump Willo. Kangas McKay is more likely to be available and similar price.

      2

      0
    2. Love it, Ben. Discounted defensive picks have freed you up to splurge on premos.

I’ve gone for a similar set-up, but have tried to squeeze in 6 MID premos:

DEF: Williams, Docherty, Doedee, Roberton, Young & Gould [Cottrell, Bianco]

MID: Macrae, Neale, Cripps, Dunkley, T. Kelly, Coniglio, Rowell & Pickett [Robertson, Maginness, Hibberd]

      RUC: Grundy & Gawn [Comben]

FWD: Whitfield, Dawson, D. Smith, E. Smith, Cameron & Rankine [McAdam, King]

Have pretty much switched a premo for a mid-pricer at D3 and F3 in order to start a premo at M6. Worth it?

      1

      0
      1. Only thing that I’d reconsider is Coniglio. Taranto is only 5k more, had a better ave than cogs l/y, hasn’t peaked yet and he plays every game.

        0

        1. Good point, Jack. Just have a feeling the Cogs will relish the captaincy role and lift his game.

  24. Have been doing lots of reading, gaining ideas, and putting together my first draft. Here’s version 1.0 of ‘Ball Don’t Lie’.

I’m pretty happy with the top-line players chosen and the overall structure. Not messing with Grawndy this year, or fluffing about with the midfield, as last year I was caught out. Reckon I’m locked-in with the forward line as well. But I’m still not convinced with my defence… could shift Birchall/Roberton to a Premo/Rook.

    *All rookies subject to change.

Lloyd, Docherty, Birchall, Doedee, Roberton, Hill (Gould, Bianco)

Macrae, Neale, Fyfe, Cripps, Whitfield, McHenry, Pickett, Hibberd (Maginness, Rivers, Mead)

    Grundy, Gawn (Comben)

Martin, Heeney, Steven, DSmith, ESmith, Rankine (Cahill, Hutchesson)

Appreciate your thoughts in advance coaches.

  26. Haven’t seen Tom Lynch in any sides. He’s only $20k more than Steven ($40k more than Smith), was actually good at football and Supercoach last year (average of 95.5 after the bye), and there’s nothing to really be found out about his role, body, or any of the other questions that linger over the more popular mid-price options.

I’ve always thought that starting with a KPF can go some way to mitigating their inconsistency, and will be strongly considering him as an option.

    7

    0
    1. This was the exact same logic I used for starting Darling last year, and that went *very* well /s

I actually don’t think it’s the worst idea but I personally have sworn off KPF’s unless they hit a patch of form late in the season and they’re your last upgrade, i.e Hawkins in 2018.

      2

      0
    2. Did the math and get an average of 91.7 after his bye. There are several value forwards that will get time in the midfield which makes a KPF roller coaster ride less appealing. Worth a watch though and if he starts the season kicking a few bags you’ll be ahead of the pack, same story with Buddy at a similar price.

      1

      0
    3. Good call, could be a master stroke….But for me, you kinda said it yourself- Why would I take him when I can get Steven & Smith for cheaper

      0

      0
    1. As a bombers fan I do….big finish to last year. He’s just that awkward price and probably not in your finals team.

      6

      0
    2. Not convinced he will get the increase in midfield minutes he probably needs for a solid increase in scoring. Smith back and Hibberd might get an inside role makes in hard to see an increased mid role for Parish. I prefer Greenwoods likely role at the Suns for the same price.

      7

      0
        1. Greenwood has averaged 85ish for 3 seasons at the Crows while getting limited midfield minutes. Reckon he will be a major part of the Suns midfield as one of the few mature Suns mids, probably an inside role to help Swallow out. 90ish will likely be top 10 in the forwards. Pre-season will tell us more about his role but I don’t think he’s a bad F3 if he plays predominately midfield.

          4

          0
          1. Nothing wrong with your analysis, Luke, but he’s priced at 463k. For that price you may as well round up the coin to grab a Martin, Heeney, Walters, etc.

            1

            0
  27. My first draft leaves me around 40K free and I’m fairly happy with it although I haven’t gone the GRAWNDY route and Dusty is out in favour of Buddy

B: Williams, Daniel, Dawson, Docherty, Doedee, Gould/
    McLennan, Towey.

C: Macrae, Fyfe, Cripps, Dangerfield, Mitchell, Rowell, M.Pickett, Hibberd /
    D.Robertson, H. Brayshaw, Maginness

    R: Grundy, ROB/ Conroy

    F: Whitfield, Buddy, D.Smith, S.Hill, Flanders, Rankine/
    Cahill, T.Wilson.

    Have at it.

    1. Solid side BP, at first look it seems heavy in DEF and light in the FWDs but switching Hill and Dawson around it looks like a great balance.

  28. Williams, ryan, Clarke, docherty, doedee, hill (mclennan, maibaum)

Cripps, danger, Oliver, taranto, k kolo, Rowell, valence, picket (cockatoo, Hibbard, mead)

    Grundy, Gawn (comben)

Dusty, wingard, Steven, brayshaw, Smith, cavarra (rankine, king)

    Whaddaya think??

    0

    5
    1. That’s a no from me, Phil. Sorry.

Wingard will be getting less, not more, midfield time, you’ve only got 4 MID premos, you don’t have Whitfield, FWD line has too much risk and there are better options out there than Ryan in defense.

I’d suggest culling Wingard and a few of those mid-price options, replace Ryan and get 5 MID premos and have another crack.

      4

      0
      1. Thanks GD.
You may be right about wingard, with Mitchell coming back.
I disagree about Ryan though – coming into his 4th year, I have him as a top 6 def and think he’s a bit more durable than some other options – hurn for example.
K kolo is obviously speculative, and fair chance he’ll be replaced by start of the season.
This was a similar structure i started with last year, and ended around 1800 – Just gotta hope to get lucky with a couple mid pricers… if Smith, Steven and brayshaw could average 90 and be keepers that’d be a start. I did say ‘if’, right?!

        Cheers

        2

    2. Kolo will be hard pushed to get a game with Langdon and Tomlinson arrival at melbourne. Suggest you downgrade to a rookie and change wingard to Greenwood. Good Luck.

Like the Taranto pick and you unique structure,

  29. I’m fallen for the hype yet again….I’ve picked a player I’ve barely seen play before, barely knows what he looks like and is all because of the hype….

I said this year would be different. I had a solid plan: pick 11-12 players at any price who will not let you down. Fill the rest with rookies and underpriced mid pricers.

Jordan Dawson welcome to my team!

    8

    0
    1. Jacobs averages 40-50 less than Gawn, no matter where you upgrade you wont make up 40-50 pts p/week.
eg: 350k saving lets your swap a rookie for a 500k/90ave player at best. a bad rookie will ave 60 so you’re still up to 20pts p/week in deficit. I.E. you’re using the 350k saving to buy 30 extra points but you lose 50 pts by having Jacobs instead of Gawn

      3

      1
      1. Superb feedback Jack. Outside of the Grawndy combination to me Jacobs is the only other rucker worth looking at. Pretty fair midfield to tap to could see a lot of his taps become effective. Can’t see Mumford in the same team

        0

        0
  30. Had a few cracks at it, thoughts on:

DEF: Z. Williams, Stewart, Houston, Docherty, Doedee, Gould (Madden, McLennan)

MID: Macrae, J. Kelly, Cripps, T. Mitchell, Dangerfield, Rowell, McHenry, Pickett (Robertson, Rivers, Hibberd)

    RUC: Grundy, Jacobs (Comben)

FWD: Whitfield, Heeney, Smith, S. Hill, Frampton, Rankine (M. King, Budarick)

$19.5k left in the bank. Sacrificed Grundy-Gawn for a stronger DEF and MID. Rookies subject to change based on preseason etc. Stayed away from Martin up forward since he usually starts slow.

  31. You can match-up, Nic Nait, Jacobs and Phillips on all the above fair assessments and possibilities for R2 instead of Gawn;
ie mids to work with, Nic Nait and Jacobs,
Last years “performance stats”, Nick Nait and Phillips,
Value for money for 1st Ruck, Phillips and Jacobs
Actual roles, How long is a piece of string?
    Role on pre-season games……

  32. Hey all first posted crack at a team.
The idea behind this team is you either have a 110+ average or provide great value.
So no breakouts, just fallen premiums, or ridiculously low priced players.

Lloyd and English are the exceptions. Lloyd, clear #1 and English good value stepping stone, hopefully keeper.

I’m Not having fwd rookies putting up 10-30 point games again, so going 5 deep.

Not having Gawn, I’ve selected a 6th mid.

I think Walsh was an exception last year(plus he had cripps to learn off) so not paying up for rowell.(if young can be downgraded I’ll put in Rowell)

Tmac is hopefully my secret weapon this year.

DEF-lloyd, docherty, Hill, young, mclennan, stodddard – bianco, Gould.
MID -fyfe, Kelly, cripps, danger, dunkly, Oliver, mchenery, E smith – Pickett, mcguiness, hibberd.
RUC – Grundy, English – combden
FWD- Whitfield, Franklin, tmac, Stevens, Smith, Rankin – king, L hosie.
    About 12k left.

Of course defence depends on rookie availability.
Clear targets are Gawn, macrae, Neale, dusty, heeney and a backline.
To get dusty and Heeney just move a fwd to mids and use them to upgrade to Neale macrae etc.
