  1. Some early news:

    North v Port
LDU in for Shaun Higgins (injured)
Dom Barry, Aidyn Johnson in for Hamish Hartlett (injured), Lindsay Thomas (suspended)

    GWS vs Lions
Nick Shipley (debut), Zac Langdon in for Dawson Simpson (omitted), Toby Greene (injured)
Daniel Rich, Oscar McInerney (debut) in for Luke Hodge (rested), Ryan Bastinac (omitted)

    Crows vs Suns
Matt Crouch, David Mackay in for Kyle Hartigan, Jake Kelly (both injured)
Michael Barlow, Max Spencer in for Michael Rischitelli (omitted), Darcy MacPherson (injured)

Kreuzer still out. Franklin/Hannebery ruled out for Sydney. Petracca will miss with an infected finger (played with it Tuesday after being bitten by a dog).
Expecting Murray/Stephenson to be rested on the short turn around. Unsure on Guelfi.

    Worpel (Hawks) to debut.

  2. I am tipping the the reverse trades button to cop a flogging around 6.30pm

Personally I would find it beneficial for Higgins and Guelfi to be managed this round so I can get one or both next round.

    1. very handy. Hawks fans’ll be excited about the Worpedo finally getting a run. Too early to say, but hoping he’ll be the perfect downgrade for Brayshaw.

  3. Why do we play this god awful game?

Sicily, Franklin and Petracca out of the forwardlinr this week..

    I think I have 3 fit forwards..HAHA

    17

    1. Thank god I have Sicily in my back line. Because this is my current forward line:

      D. Smith / Curnow / Fisher / Henry / Fritsch / Garlett (inj)
// Franklin (inj) / Petracca (inj).

Thinking at least one trade to avoid a donut:
      TU – Garlett – Guelfi.
TD – Garlett – Guelfi and Franklin – someone (most likely Heeney).

  4. With big McInerney set to debut, this may be a potential worry for Steph Martin owners. Won our reserves B&F last year and could spend a bit of time in the ruck. When Archie Smith played last year, Martin’s scores plummeted. Just something to keep an eye on, as historically Steph doesn’t score well when playing with another recognised ruck. Not supercoach relevant, but glad to see my boy Richy back in the team after an injury layoff.

      1. Yeah was always a chance mate, but u never know, as Grundy has gone to another level this year and Cox is still in the team. Still not looking great for Steph though.

    1. NoooOooo. First donut guaranteed if Fritsch doesn’t play (which looks unlikely, with Spargo named and both Lewis and McDonald back).

  5. Most carnage so far this year for me
I’ve got no cover in defence, if Murray is rested because of the short break I’ll cop a donut or trade
Mids I escaped fine as with rucks
Fwd Line is where it begins, no Fogarty again, potentially no Fritsch, no Garlett and no Petracca

Do I trade Petracca is the big question

    7

    3
  6. I’m going to Cop a donut in the fwd line regardless
So should I avoid it by

Option 1:Trading Bonner and swing some positions by moving one of my non playing fwds into mid then getting Guelfi in the fwd line

Option2: Trade out Petracca because of some average form and get in someone around 430K

Option 3: Get rid of Garlett or Fogarty for Guelfi

Option 4: Double Trade Bonner to Higgins and Petracca to any FWD Premo (Robbie Gray looking nice)

      1. i want to get Guelfi in but I just don’t know how to do it yet
I could go Garlett to Guelfi but I will be relying on Fritsch getting named and not an emergency other wise I’ll cop a donut
I could do Bonner down to Guelfi which allows me to have better on field rookies but then I will cop a donut from Petracca
        Maybe Bonner to Guelfi
And Garlett to Higgins this way I can create a mid-fwd swing to allow Higgins being dropper and Petracca returning

        2

        0
  7. TU: Garlett to Higgins (if named)
    TD: Hold

Maybe no trades this week, could downgrade Garlett or Waterman (if he isn’t named in the finalised Sunday teams), Good to see Barry back for Port.

    1. Comment – anyone else. Just kidding, I know it’s tempting but I’m just concerned about injury risk (there seem to be enough injuries this year without taking on additional risk).

      2

  8. Forward line shake up, thinking of getting rid of Garlett and Waterman and bringing in footy’s equivalent of Bruce Reid, da Lids and Guelfi, the only thing with Lids is will he stay on the park and continue his run of form?

T/U – do the trade and back Lids
T/D – Garlett to Guelfi only

    Thanks guys

  9. Richmond interchange is listed as: Houli, Higgins, Prestia, Grigg, Soldo, Graham, Conca, Short.

I think they will settle with Houli, Prestia, Grigg and Conca.

    Thoughts?

    11

    1. Current extended bench means nothing! The 4 players who won’t be picked can be anyone, not just temporarily interchange players.

  10. What are people doing with petracca? I was hoping he’d take his game to the next level this year but so far looks like a 70-80 point player, which isn’t a disaster but there are better options around. My forward line is:

Heeney, McLean, Smith, Petracca, Billings & 3x Rooks

Hoping Billings starts getting more time in the mids seeing he can’t kick straight up forward lol Was thinking of flicking Petracca for Gray but will he get Jacobs TAG this weekend the form he’s in?

    3

    1. Looking at the Top 6 Fwds post earlier this week, Trac looks a long way back, so think he needs to go.

I’m doing Trac to Gray. If he cops the Jacobs tag I’m hoping he can go Fwd and snag a few. He averaged ~110 for three years prior to 2017, and in his current form, might not be under 600k again for a while.

      0

      1
      1. If he averages 110 this year, he will tend to his mean price of <$565k. Am gonna wait til Rd10 and reassess. If I have any trades left!!
These team selections this week are killing me.

        0

        0
        1. That said, the points he’ll generate you between now and then on current form are well worth the premium price. Good luck

          0

  11. I’m definitely trading Garlett for guelfi, but need advice on the following:

TU: do the double trade down and trade darcy fogarty for higgins
    TD: save the trade

I have 23 trades at the start of the round

    0

    13
    1. What on earth have you spent 7 trades on?

The double down is a no brainer for me on 29 trades, I have no idea what I’d do if I was on 23 though. Probably just Fogarty -> Guelfi. At least Garlett can score a 70+ if he ever gets named again. Fogarty is just an absolute potato.

  12. Hey coaches,

I always forget, hasn’t mattered much for me yet this year, but when do those Sunday teams get finalized? Before the bounce of the first game of the round?

  13. As a relatively new player of SuperCoach and a newcomer to the awesome SCT site, I’d love to get some learned feedback on what feels like quite an aggressive strategy.
I’ve plotted a way from now to Rd15, based on current averages and projected prices, to get to full onfield premiums, with enough cover through the bye rounds, BUT with only 10 trades remaining. Obviously, like this week, I may be forced to make unwanted trades (the original plan would have left me with 11).
I guess the two questions I’m asking are:
    I. Am I gonna leave myself with no trades come finals time, and
II. When should you normally aim to reach full premium?
Thanks in advance for any feedback SCTers

    0

    0
    1. Sounds like you are all over it allsaints.
If you can have a full premium team by the end of the bye rounds 10 trades should see you through for injuries.
A less aggressive approach might see you achieve a full team a bit later on but with more of the top players in each position which will help during league finals.

      1. Thanks mate. It looks something like this, but I already think this week’s team selections will set me back a week and now I’ll actually be left with only 8 trades:
Pre-Bank Post Rd OUT Price via IN Price Bank Trades Left

        1. and will take to Rd16. DG = downgrade target.

          not so crash hot huh??!
Buddy, Sicily, Fogarty, Garlett and maybe Fritsch all out for the week has seriously scuppered the plans.

          Should I
TU: cop a donut (maybe even 2) this week and revert to the original plan, or
TD: do everything you can to avoid donuts and take both longer and more trades to get there.

          Would REALLY appreciate thoughts SCTers.
          Many thanks in advance

          3
          1. Two quick comments:

            1) The downgrade targets don’t usually show up when you need them, which means you may have to wait a week or two here and there or change the order of your trades.
            2) There is waaaay too much that will happen week-to-week for a plan like that to hold (case in point, this round).

Having said that, I like where your head is at re: bye planning and targeting the players you want. Good luck!

            1. brilliant thanks Daniel, appreciate the valuable feedback.

Will go back and build in as much flexibility into it as I can.

For example, can I go a little earlier for DGs as and when the right one is available (may mean an extra trade required later if the cow wasn’t fat enough.
But, given how fat some of them have already got, picking a good one next week for instance could be worth $350k+come Rd12/13, generating cash into the model that has not been accounted for in planning.
I’ve also identified the premiums I want, so can build some flexibility in who/position/when, but finishing it off will still be difficult I reckon.

My problem right now is a lack of coordinated DPPs. I was going to address it last week but decided to save the trade. Meh.

              Thanks again. Really helpful.

              1. Having a plan, detailed or not, is really helpful. Understanding that there is no way any plan will survive contact with the enemy, so to speak, is also really helpful.

My strategy is pretty much hyper-developed tactics. I know there is too much unknown, especially with cows and downgrades, to do more than be ready to react well to what happens, and know what I want to try and do and not do.

As a new player, gaming out a season like you did is a really good idea.

                2

                0
                1. thanks Father. And you’re definitely right. Going through the process has really helped. It does put me in a better informed position to make right decisions rather than rash choices I reckon.
Just looking forward to seeing what next week’s surprises are gonna be. Both frustrating and highly addictive hey?!??!

                2. “hyper-developed tactics”?! do you have some golden nuggets you’d care to share on the ‘SC 101 Planning Guide for Dummies & Newbies’?!
would love to hear more if you have the time or inclination
                  cheers

                  1. It’s definitely a beneficial exercise as it will help you avoid a lot of the “flavour of the week” players – the guys that hit a purple patch and light it up for 2-3 weeks, then go back to their typical spudly ways.

In years past, I know I’ve jumped on a lot of these types of players and 9 times out of 10 it blows up in your face. Keep you eyes on the premium prize, and you should be alright.

                    0
    1. If you can cover Trac for the week I would do that. If you have Garlett or Bonner trading them NOW is the best option. If you can’t afford to upgrade to a SOLID premium, then downgrade and use the cash to upgrade next week, or the week after.
If you don’t have either of them, I’d hold and let your cows all fatten a bit more.
      Good luck with it.

      1

      1. Have plenty of cash, have garlett but he’s the first trade, have coverage for Trac but just wasn’t sure if he’s worth moving on now? thinking I will hold due to the coverage.

        0

        0
        1. Trac’s price will stabilise and the week off may do him good. His points are more precious than most rookies (esp. in FWD line), so down-/upgrading them first should be the priority. If you’re still not happy with him when that’s all done then … well, handball time 😉

  14. One of Greene/Petracca to Gray/McLean probably has to happen this week. Does anyone know how many weeks the foot injury will keep Greene out for?

    T/U – Trade Greene
    T/D – Trade Petracca

Comment – Venables to ZGL and effectively throw in the towel for SCT cup
