2013 Byes

Are you a Happy Chappy?

So Paul Chapman an everyday Supercoach Superhero with great average with an occasional injury. He’s one of my first picked and is now listed on the Injury sheet with groin injury and out for 2-3 week… a goin can easily strretch to 4-5 weeks with a hic-up. Also, to complicate thoughts Neil Balme has said he is no certainty for round 1. So maybe it’s not that bad, and maybe he will play or only miss a week. He can probably ‘carry’ it through a game if needed, anyone who’s pulled their groin (pun intended) before knows it’s limiting…. possibly SC score limiting, but not incapacitating.

I’ll take (D) – I’ve always been worried about his hammies and this latest injury scare is just what I needed to pick someone else.

2010 – 21 – qual final
2009 – 17 – granny
2008 – 17 – granny
2007 – 16 – granny
2006 – 22 – no finals (?)
2005 – 18 – semi final
2004 – 22 – qual final
2003 – 22
2002 – 16
2001 – 9

Memory is a bit sketchy about finals before 2004, but I think it was a few misses. I’ve mentioned finals just to show there have still been games missed. Also, never missed a match due to suspension.

Thanks Brad, I think anyone who picks Chappy needs to accept he will miss 1-3 games during the year…… but it’s a very interesting fact that he hasn’t missed due to suspension. He goes at it hard, and looks an angry man…. but must stay within the rules.

An interesting thought re Chappy and by extension all players. Teams with byes in the back half of the season will have less of a need to rest players in the lead up to the finals like in the previous couple of years. Teams without a bye in the back 6-7 rounds though will still probably rest players at whim. Just a thought to have in your mind re selection.

On one hand I should thank you for this piece of advice, on the other I blame you for the additional hours I’ll waste considering it.

I agree, Delicious Hamburger. Sometimes I just wish Chappy was out for a month and no one on this site had any persuasive reason to pick him after that.

According to the Geelong Addy, Chappy had a calf as well as a groin. Throw in lack of match fitness and a reluctance of Geelong to say that he will be playing in R1… it all looks like a bad situation
I’m off the Cpappy train.

Just spewing it didn’t happen in Rd 1. Would’ve given me an edge as I won’t have him due to the obvious durability issue.

There’s 24 trades… use one of the 4 extra ones you get this year to bring in GAJ after round 10 or something if he breaks down.

No big deal right?

However he’s not in my side… so I guess I can’t really judge you all for debating. But that’s the risk I’d be willing to take if I didn’t already have Selwood in my crosshairs.

I was having him in my team, then taking him out, the in etc. Now that he is injured he is out, and I can downgrade him and upgrade someone else. My aim is to pick him up once he drops price…

He was in and out of my team 72 times in the last week. Ended up taking him out before the injury to his nether regions surfaced.

Considering the byes as well, too much risk for my liking.

With Chapman under injury cloud, been thinking about with or without him. Heath Grundy from the Swans keeps popping up. Any thoughts about him. Would he be a risk? Could work in well with my DPP theory. Cheers lads

if you have your heart set on a geelong player maybe look at steve johnson, he’s a reasonable price and has already said he’ll be spending time in the midfield this year!
