Are You Shaw?

Written by Motts on April 20 2012

He’s only supposed to be out for 2 weeks but hammies worry supercoaches more than probably any other injury because of their tendency to recur.

This issue is especially pertinent for SCTTL coaches.

So if you’ve got him, what are you doing with him?

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

  1. I do not know what is going on a Collingwood … its a mystery of intrigue.
For the record I will probably stick with him as I hope they are foxing … Fingers crossed I see him out there on ANZAC day.
    C’mon Heater do a StevieJ!!

  2. Thanks for the Poll Motts!
For my main team I will not be trading him out. He will 99 per cent be in the top 10 defenders at years end IMO. I won’t cop a donut and don’t want to waste trades.

But a totally different story with my SCTT league team. I will be using an aggressive trading strategy. I have to trade out on of Smedts, Lake or Shaw to avoid Donut so will trade Shaw.

With the SCTT league, how about next year we have a promotion/relegation system. EG winner of SCTTL 2 get promoted to SCTTL 1. And the loser of SCTTL 2 relegated to SCTTL 3. Just an idea.

  3. I wonder if they’re just resting up for anzac day like Jester said earlier.
Pretty stiff playing satie then following up wednesday.

Would be interesting to see if they magically “get up” for it.

I cant see Bucks being that under handed though.

Very big outs for Pies, even bigger for SC. Almost selected Shaw in my starting line up to. Spewing he didnt do it mid game so his price crashed. Wouldve been a great upgrade.

  4. Changed my mind (us girls like to do that, apparently).
I feel I had no other choice- with Lake and Shaw out, and the combination of Darley not getting a game (was just going to slot him on-field to avoid a donut, but nah of course that’d be too easy, wouldn’t it?!).

    Option one:
    * Put Shaw on the bench, then upgrade Lake to Fisher.
    * Swap Fyfe back to forward line, put Pavlich into my mids for him.
    * Then trade out Fyfe for Treloar to fund the Lake upgrade.
    * Treloar has a good b/e so should make me some money.
So this enables me to bank $200k to get M.Murphy hopefully ASAP. Probably by swinging a Dusty trade via the mids if he doesn’t pull his socks up in the next week or two- bleeding $$ ATM.

    Option two:
    * Downgrade Shaw –> Marty Clarke
    * Then Fyfe (mids) to Barlow/Hayes.
Means I lose my mid/fwd link AND meant downgrading 2 premiums for 1 rookie and either of 2 fallen premiums.
Money in the bank: $389, 600 (Barlow) or $377, 100 (Hayes).

    -Thoughts anyone? T.I.A.

  5. Hey just wondering what everyone thoughts are on lake? I know he will still go up more but would it be worth a trade to Tomlinson who is on the bible? Free up $150000 and give me a link to smelts up fwd.
    T up trade
    T down keep

  6. Just had an epiphany of sorts RE: Heath Shaw (2 Weeks)
    Is it –

Thumbs Up – 2 Weeks as in 2 games (Using the old lingo)?
Thumbs Down – 2 Weeks as in 2 calendar weeks. Meaning 3 Games?

*Had $430k stored away for this week in particular (League Rivalry – Bets and Friendships on the line) This is a huge headache as my opponent has no Shaw. So it may force my hand.

  7. Welcome to the Supercoach merry-go-round.

Last week those who traded Lake wondered if they made the right call while those who held him were grinning. This week the tables are turned.

Last week some with Broughton wished they had Shaw. This week the tables are turned.

Who knows what will happen next week.

  10. I will be trading him out. Shaw will miss 2 minimum and when he comes back he has a very high BE so will lose significant cash.

I plan to trade out shaw and hope he gets down to a nice juicy price come cow cashing time.

  11. I’m yet to make an official trade this season but boy o boy, have I been giving the reversible trade option an absolute flogging in the last 24 hours.

I’m thinking of doing my 1st trades as I’m in a similar situation with Leo Messi with several out’s this week via injury or suspension.

    H Shaw to Birchell
Cameron to Treloar… I just feel both these trades hold better JS throughout the season

Thumbs up……..good trades just do it
Thumbs down….take a few donuts this week & keep your 24 trades at bay

    Cheers SCT coaches

  12. I just want to say that Matt Windley and Glenn McFarlane have no idea! Thank god for SCT! Also on the Shaw matter I know its risky but a Shaw to Geary trade as backs scoring is very unstable and get the cashola ready for the rookie – pendles trade next week or the week after is firming for me.

  13. PS: Rumour has it that both Shaw and Thomas said during the week that they miss Malthouse and have been dropped for the next 2 games (The will break out come early next week!)

  14. I’m keeping Shaw. Traded Fyfe, swapped Smedts to forward line, bought Carrazzo.
Am risking a fat 0 if Brandon Ellis doesn’t play, plus i’m playing my older brother whose team has been getting about 70 – 80 points less than me. I’m missing Goodes, Lake and Shaw (he’s only missing Lake) as well as some rooks that I have coverage for.
I’ve already made 3 trades and i’m sticking fat with the decision of riding this out, at the possible and crushing expense of losing to my older brother. Have to focus on the whole season and keep that trade (rather than trading Shaw out). THINK BIG!!

  15. Thinking of dumping Fyfe and D Martin this week
With 300k in the bank I can:

Thumbs up: bring in 2 of Judd / Mitchell / Del Santo / Murphy immediately etc

Thumbs down: bring in Hayes and McDonald with good value increases to come and be sitting on $700k to upgrade Lake, Hargreave, Bugg, M Clarke in coming weeks

Other points: strategy is load on round 13 bye players (league win is my goal so this means I should be strong on 11 and 12) so Hayes sits with that. I am also a little exposed with Robbie Gray so with Gray, Martin and Fyfe to lose money and be in a right pickle if I sit still?

Comments: any advice please! Much appreciated

  16. Yet another reason why I’m loving my decision to avoid Collingwood players early this season. -Barring Marty Clarke ofcourse. But thats paying off so far haha

  17. Just a rumor Juddy, I just find it a bit weird that 2 stars from the 1 team both do hamstrings during the same training session.

Collingwood have 2 games in the space of 4 days so you would think training loads would have been reduced, sounds a bit dodgy to me.

  18. With the increasing injuries at Collingwood, what are people’s thoughts on Paine getting more games? Been named this week and is on the bubble. Provides a good link with Smedts (who I have already moved last week into the fwd in order to trade Dickson -> Clarke).
Also on a side note, Pendlebury had him in his SC side from the start, maybe some inside info there??

THUMBS UP – Trade Shaw down to him for some quick cash and to avoid that dreaded doughnut!
THUMBS DOWN – Won’t get regular game time, not worth it!

    Cheers guys!

  20. I think the reason they are out for 2 weeks is becasue they play on wednesday, if it was a normal weekend game i think thomas and shaw would both play.
