Two of the best midfield/forward DPP’s in the game (just as an aside, I’m gobsmacked that Paul Chapman is the highest priced M/F DPP in SC this year). One coming down from the peak of his career, the other on his way up.
Bartel’s a Brownlow medallist and out-and-out SC champion averaging well into the 100′s between 2007 and 2010. The last couple of years he’s slipped back to the mid-90′s though. Always very durable. Missed 3 games last year but prior to that it was only 1 or 2 a year (more than likley mandated rests by the coaching staff).
Cyril’s averaged in the 90′s for the last 3 years but hasn’t played a full season since his first in 2008. Has a history of hamstring injuries but a new running style has supposedly fixed that. Tackles as hard as anyone in the game, find time and space that others can’t (Pendles excluded) and runs like the wind.
If you could only have one, which one would it be?

I think a fit and healthy Bartel is a nice fit in my forward line.

I like Stevie J too but I would take Bartel’s consistency. StevieJ had a load of sub 80 scores last year. Also a little concerned about his apparent need to whack opponents recently … Balantyne sucked him in a couple of weeks back and remember he missed the final last year for a similar behind the play act … I hope it is not becoming a habit.

First 5 games he scored under 70. Plus a game in round 18 he scored a 3. Take these out of his year and he averaged close to 114 a game. Lock in my books

He certainly scores well. Will he be in you team for round 1 J-rod even though he is suspended?

Yeah only going for league wins and since he is suspended will be a bit of a Pod

Agreed. Lost some weight and guaranteed more midfield time!

Never been a fan of Cyril supercoach wise, and Bartel is on his way down.
I would prefer Stevie J over the both of these fellas.

You gotta factor in Stevie J’s enforced bye in R1. For a lot of people that’s gonna rule him out.

Interesting comment on Jimmy Vs Stevie J considering Jimmy is 5 months younger. I know not always directly related, but in this instance I disagree.

I cant decide between Roughead, Stevie J & Zorko.. I have Karnezis and Rockliff in fwd line, so am worried about having 3 lions. Having said that, i am confident that Zorko & Rocky will ave 105+ this season. Alws been a fan of Roughy, he’s a bit of a scrapper and capable of decent scores. I am willing to wait for Stevie J to play 2 games before grabbing him i think.. But my team has changed a 1,000 times, so who knows lol.

I have Cox & Ryder in my fwd line too.. Loving bein able to have Fwd/Rucks.. Fwd line “looks” stronger with them there.. Hoping Ryder can stay fit. He will still get a bit of ruck wrk and can kick a goal or 2..

ryder or roughie are both good dpp choices to have in your side . you could flip a coin on either those two .

I just have a feeling Ryder and Roughy will dominate this season. This could be the Hawks last tilt at the flag, so their leaders should/will have big fantasy seasons.

Well think everyone knows my answer on this one Cyril. He is going to repay the faith at some point.
Hot debate. What do you think?

He is good to watch when on fire! Will you have him rd1 or upgrade target?

Mate unsure at the moment. If he plays the praccy matches and looks ok he will be in. If he does not play but named round 1 I will hold off as much as I would like him in and upgrade later. No Round 1 then no pick.

1 Brownlow, 1 Norm Smith, 3 Flags, can play anywhere, can carry injuries (way better than Cyril) and a true champion of the game. It’s Jimmy for me.
That said, I wouldn’t have either if they were only Mids but as a forward for the first time Jimmy was one of my first picked. I’ve had Cyril a few times and very patchy and extreamly risky.

Im with the Big and Sexy on this one. Cyril is a gun but just to injury prone and a bit inconsistant at times for me. Never really had him in my SC teams and pretty sure the one time I did bring him in mid season cause he was tearing it up he got injured on me straight away! Bartel for me. Though currently neither of these guys are in my FWD…

Still no love for Tomahawk. I have gone for him over Bartel and Stevie J. Does anyone think that he will have a big year? I love how Bartel goes about his footy but I have some concerns but I don’t really have evidence behind them. Stevie J has a week off early and has been a bit punchy recently. He could get weeks off throughout the season.
