Game Chat – BL v COLL

Written by MJ on April 4 2015

The Lions will fancy their chances against the Pies at the GABBA tonight. Allen Christensen and Dayne Beams will make their debuts for Brisbane after both players forced trades from their respective clubs. Christensen departed after delaying contract negotiations with Geelong all season, before he requested a trade in the offseason. He landed in Brisbane in exchange for pick 21 in the 2014 draft. Beams left the Pies after it was revealed his father became ill last year. Lions fans will also be salivating at the prospect of a midfield unit that contains Tom Rockliff, Beams, Christensen and Daniel Rich, who returns from injury.

It’s been a poor start to the season for Collingwood, who had two players (Lachy Keeffe and Josh Thomas) test positive for banned substances last week. To make matters worse, Travis Cloke had an abysmal NAB challenge, mustering just three goals in two games. Dane Swan did show the occasional glimpse of form and Scott Pendlebury remains a class act. Nathan Buckley will either make it as a Coach this season or see his tumultuous tenure at Collingwood ended swiftly, possibly before the close of the season. Kick off is 6.20pm local time.

Justin’s Tip: Brisbane will have too much depth through the middle of the ground. Lions by 9 points.

  1. Now, with Lamb as the sub … is McGrath a better option? What’s his job security like? Or what is Lonie’s chances tomorrow likely with the vest as well??

  6. Buck’s says Sidebottom likely to miss a few with broken thumb…was going off tonight before then and I was smiling ear to ear. Smile firmly wiped off dial with first injury of the year hitting home!!

  7. Pendlebury only 41 pts! I don’t believe it. Did he give away 20 frees in the last 1/4
or is the sc website stuffed.

  10. What a roller coaster this round has been.
I’m going gang busters with my rookies, but getting let down by my premiums.
Also, whilst my late decision not to have lumumba may be a good call, trading out swan maybe not such an inspired choice! 🙂
