Breaking Even – Rd9

Written by Schwarzwalder on May 13 2019

A popular feature at SCT, we’ve shortlisted the most SC-relevant players for you as a handy guide (mainly those owned by 3% of teams or more, with a few exceptions).

For the Supercoach newbies out there, the Breakeven is the score needed by each player to hold his price.  If they score above that Breakeven value, their $$ value will rise.  If they score below that Breakeven point, they will lose value.  Sorry if I’ve overlooked something.  Be sure to let me know in the Comments below and I’ll update it as soon as I can.  If you have any questions about Breakevens, don’t hesitate to ask in the Forum and I’m sure our friendly SCT Community will help out.

    1. If you’re gonna go late on anyone, I’d make it Shai Bolton. He looks freakishly good!

Smokie midpricers for Top10 DEF from here to season’s end:
      Lachie WELLER (GCS)(MID/DEF), ($436 300, 89.3): 50

Has a 3RdAve of 100.7 after getting pumped in Rd1 by the debutant Marty Parker. Seems to be playing the LLOOOYYYYYD role for the Suns. I am SERIOUSLY tempted! Anyone else? Sort of trade that can make you a winner/loser. Might just take the punt 😉

        1. Regarding S Bolton you could trade S Walsh to him freeing up approximately 190,000 assuming you still have Drew in the fwd line and with the 120+ in his system he could potentially make it to 350,000 which means once trading Bolton you would have made 400,000+ from the 2 trades which is fantastic considering the poor cash generating rookies.

          1. You just solved the exact problem I was trying to solve. Never thought of Weller. *Gives him a guernsey

          2. Is that the wife’s team you have nothing to do with, have no say in, have no input in, don’t discuss with your wife and don’t advise your wife. Cos u seem to mention you’re wife’s team a fair bit.

            1. apologies for the confusion.

There is the real wife’s team (that is as you describe above) and then there is my wife’s team which is actually my DEADTeam entry. This is the one that has all the potshots in it that I keep banging on about. The one that has the likes of Salem, Weller, Taranto and other midprice/breakout punts in it.

I still like the look of Lachie Weller however. He’s gone under the radar a bit as he missed three games early. But he ticks many of the right boxes for a potential breakout.
              Age: 23
              Draft pick: Rd1, pick 13
Games played last three seasons: 66/66
Ave. has improved each and every year of four
Finished last year with an 89 average (last 6 games) with only one score below 79

His role is very SC friendly this year, either loose man behind the contest coming inside their defensive 50 or rebounding off HB. He’s also in a side that has improved significantly on last year.

There is plenty to like from what I see. And he has talent.

      2. Dont like any of those suggestions allsaints. Weller is at the price and scoring potential where you end up getting a value ‘premo’ who loses you 10 points a game on the rest of the premiums in defence. Great to start with but the value does not justify a trade at this stage.

Similar for Bolton. Kicked 4 goals this week in his night out against the dockers but wont be repeating that each week. Is likely to end up scoring coaches who bring him in more 60s and not be worth the trade.

Dont lose your head chasing glory.

is miss’n the boat & watch’n them soar

bare in mind that his last 3 were against
        melb , WC , & bris

        his next 3 are against
        port , cats & GWS

      4. Bolton (and Baker) has been mooted for more midfield minutes in the absence of Jack ROSS!

    1. Should probably ride the Libba train for some time now. Am sure he’ll come back once he and Dunks get re-magnetised.
Think you may regret Walsh too, unless your M8 becomes a premo this week. Best consistent-scoring mid-rookie by some margin.
As GD rightly points out, Hately has no real JS unless one of the Giants’ premo mids goes down with an LTI.

      1. Libba with scores of 78, 51, 72 the last 3 weeks. has cracked the ton in 3 of 8 games (127, 150, 106) which is where his cash generation came from.

I’m glad i offloaded him. Had him in the team to make money and he’s done his job. Will not be anywhere near the top10 miss come end of season.

        1. I’m glad I got rid of him too, but if I hadn’t, I’d be holding him now. He’s proj’d to be priced at an ave. of 80 next week. If he tons up any week soon, he’ll suddenly have a BE of 70. If he goes big, it’ll be way less than that. Two in a row and he’ll likely go back to his previous peak-price pretty quickly. That’s all I’m saying.
