2013 Byes

BS Rookie Review Round 11

by Big Sexy on June 12, 2012

A tricky week to evaluate rookies given 6 teams had the bye, 6 teams are about to have a bye and some teams aren’t playing rookies… so here goes:

My Top Five Rookie’s (<$200k) of the week:

1)    S Shaw (Def $113k) Shaw had the bye this week, but is one of the best value rookies on the table right now and will be handy for coaches looking for poly-filla to fill the holes in their teams in the next two weeks.  Shaw had 13 disposals back in round 4, and then returned in round 10 getting 16 disposals resulting in scores of 71 and 77 in his first two hit-outs.  I’d suggest he will be in a lot of teams come the start of round 12.

2)     H Crozier (Mid/Fwd 106k) Crozier has the bye this coming week, but is a cheap DPP who is on the move…. Only had the 3 disposals and the Kermit vest in his first run, then smashed out 16 disposals this week bringing home 62 points this week. Keep him pegged for round 13.

3)    S Darley (Def 156k) Darley also had the bye, but is still great value

4)    J Elliott (Fwd 154k) So Elliott has the bye coming up, so leave him alone this week.  However, he genuinely looks like a quality player and knows what he’s doing on the field. He had the green vest in his first run, then smashed out 106 and backed that up with another 61.  I’d suggest Dids injury also will help his cause.  You have one more chance if you want to roll the dice.

5)    A Sexton (Mid/Fwd 156k)  Sexton was aptly described but one of our readers as a slow-burner.  He’s not bringing the house down with his scores, but he’s a DPP and seems have found a spot in the team.  Recent scores are 13, 55, 48 and 40.  He is still great value.

Here is the rookie data:

Tom Couch smashed it for Casey on the weekend and must be on the cusp.

Bye this week for the Dees but if he performs again this week for Casey he has to be a chance.

Hasn’t couch been tearing it up now for a while. I reckon couch must have pissed off neeld somehow because if any Player performs well in the scones they at least get an emergency spot.

That is true, might be a handy downgrade option…..but, as a rule young power forwards don’t score well, or at least consistently. Let’s see how he rolls at the big dance.

I’d wait a few rounds, he’s still quite dear for a rookie and apparently hasn’t been setting the world on fire. Being #1 and much likened to Jonno Brown though, I do agree you should at least be watching him with interest during this time.

Also he is coming off a sgnificant injury. Wouldn’t want him to break down again… #justsayin’

Hi All,
Definitely bringing Shaw in if named, not sure for Hargrave or Morris, thinking for extra cash.

Also bringing Priddis for Horsley or Conigs.

TU – Horsley – peaked
TD – Coniglio – more upside, good cover later on

I am sure i read that Coniglio is out for 4 weeks. Flicked Horsley myself, however as per my TD above, i would trade out Coniglio as after GC’s effort last weekend i suspect Horsely will be back in the guts this week & consistantly after to a) give good mid cover & b) start increasing in price again in a few weeks.

Took your lead BS and grabbed Sexton last week. I like his DPP and hope you are right about finding a place in the team. I am happy for him to score 50′s I just hope he plays for the rest of the season.

Having said that my SCTTL came down to my Magner V HGL’s Elliot – needless to say I lost by a small margin. Why tag Maxwell?!

Are you guys sure Shaw has good JS? 2 games in 7 weeks is not that impressive, what am I missing?

Someone said he was injured for that period , only hearing good things about him at this stage, will be hitting the reverse button if his not selected though!

Gibson to play for North this week. Ultra cheap rookie who’s been racking up 25 possies a week for North in the VFL. Hope Scott doesn’t play him as the sub but he probably will play as the sub unfortunately.

Lovin’ that RB. He was smashing out big scores in the NAB and then vanished. Much more potential than Crozier.

Hopefully he dosnt turn him into a tagger like Melbourne did with Magner! I’ll wait two weeks then McDonald to Gibson and I’ll be over $200000 richer!

Had a very good game in the WAFL last week but Duffield was better with 35+ posessions so you would expect Spurr to be behind him as well as the players in last week’s winning team.
