I’m starting to think the nomination process for the rising star is incorrect. Fasolo is a highly worthy nomination for his seasons effort but surely Tutt (or Butcher) are more worthy of being nominated from this round of football. I know they factor in accumulation of efforts across a few matches but i just think the process is wrong. It should be the best performed youngun from that particular round of football and if there’s no stand out options then you factor in previous performances.

Totally agree with you Roo Bloke, Butchers effort in a losing, struggling team was more like a rising star or a shining light than Fasolos 2 goal 19 touch game who may have only got nomiated due to consistency.

Very true….. I’m just posting up the stats more for reference, and next year in mind mainly.

Yep, I’m just taking notes for next year. With no trades left, I’m flying by the seat of my pants for the rest ofthe season, and I can tell those pants are wearing thin!

Was at AAMI Stadium on Sunday, and I was very impressed with John Butcher. The kid is a super talent. Did suffer a heavy knock, got back up and took the game on (That’s the Port Adelaide I know). The Power have nursed him through his injury and are now starting to see the benefits and along with Jackson Trengove also played his best game. In a very bleak season, providing they stay in a black, white and teal guernsey, the Power have unearthed to exceptional stars for the future years ahead. I definitely will consider Butcher in my supercoach side for season 2012.

I was wondering what Bruce McAvaney’s call on tv was all about when he said of Butcher “he’s a bad kick, but he never misses”!!! Good one Bruce, you knucklehead!

Thanks BK, hopefully Butcher isn’t too expensive at the start of next season.

BTW, Do you think Primus will still be coaching? Do you want him to be?

Cheers Big Sexy! In answer to your first question, Primus imo will be coaching next season, hopefully he will have some good assistants alongside him. I heard people wanting Dean Bailey and Phil Walsh to come back to assist Primus next season, but I would prefer to go with some fresh faces who have not been associated with the club in the past. In my opinion I think Primus has done ok, given the limited resources he has had to work with both players and assisted coaches. The added funding given to Port by the AFL will hopefully help them immensely. Providing they don’t make any more bad decisions (eg. Mark Williams & Kane Cornes), then things look on the up. Like I said earlier the likes of Butcher, Hartlett, Trengove, Boak, Carlie and Gray are the future and the club needs to desperately sign all of them up.
As for do I want Primus to coach. Look I think he is a terrific bloke, and an out and out true leader, I think he deserves a crack. With what he has had to deal with this season, I say what doesn’t kill you, only makes you stronger. I guess if the club was in a good position financially and could afford the likes of a Mick Malthouse, Clarkson etc well then yes, If I’m honest there would be a better coach out there than Primus, but given their current circumstances I think at present, he should continue as coach.

Nice BK, I’m not so sure I would be as sympatetic….but you’re a lot closer to the coal face than I am. Good luck.

Not sure Daniel. He played for Centrals a fortnight ago and last week the Dogs had the bye in SANFL. Coming back from injury he may play another game with Centrals imo before pushing for Crows selection.

He played alright Scatts on Sunday no question he has some talent, however I’d like to see him play against a Collingwood, Hawthorn or Geelong defence before making any further judgement on him.
