My Top Five Rookie’s (<$200k) of the week:
1) B Crouch (Mid $115k) Crouch may not have top scored this week, but he had an impressive first run. Sometimes you have to look past the score to see the player, and I’d suggest his score was dragged down by the teams lack-luster performance against PA. Regardless, he’s a 184cm midfielder and had 18 disposals in each of his first two runs, the end result being 85 points first up and 50 this week. Assuming the team doesn’t get too shuffled about, he’s going places.
2) J Hutchins (Def $115k) A tall defender at 191cm’s and played 6 games in 2011, and had 2012 decimated by injury. Hutchins had 13 disposals in each of his first two runs and kicked a goal in his first up run, and layed an amazing 8 tackles this week. He scored 78 points in his first run and then smashed a lazy 87 points this week.
3) D Terlich (Def $109k) Most SC fans expected Terlich to play round 1 which obviously isn’t the first mistake the Dee’s have made this season. Terlich is a 23yo rookie (who looks 33) and had 12 disposals and scored 56 points in his first hit out, and 21 disposals and 62 points in his second run.
4) S Rowe (Ruck/Fwd $115k) Whilst Rowe is a truly great AFL story having come back from being diagnosed with cancer in 2012, it pains me to put this guy in the RR, as I really think he’s another Casboult and just not going to cut it at AFL level regardless of what Motts will tell you. Well emotions aside, Rowe held some great grabs on the weekend and deserved his good score. Rowe had 11 disposals, a goal and scored 65 points in his first hit out, and had 10 disposals, 2 goals and 77 points this week.
5) T Lee (Fwd $115k) A lots SCT-aholics had Lee in their pre season teams. Now he’s only had the one run, but I’ve put him on the radar as I feel the Saints really need to play some youngsters regardless of form, and start developing from within, as recent recruiting has not been a Saints strong suit. He kick 60 goals for Claremont in 2012, this week had 9 disposals, kicked a goal and showed a bit and managed a respectable 59 points. Let’s see how he backs it up next week against a real team.

Nice work BS.
I’m stumped on Crouch at the moment. Only trade options for me would be K Stevens or M Jones. Given they just had scores of 84 and 77, these will hang around in their rolling average for 2 more weeks, while Crouch’s 50 will be in his. At the moment I’m leaning towards NOT trading Crouch in and reassessing next week, potentially taking Mayes (MID/FWD) instead.
Thoughts? I’m sure there are many in a similar situation.
T/U – Gotta get Crouch
T/D – Save the trade, Stevens and Jones will go up just as much this week.
Nice work big sexy ..this week im going with rowe, has good js and looked ok last week . Just dont have enough trades to get crouch in this week .
already have

Kommer been full stopped?
Having concerns over Kerridge and Colquhoun.
Kerridge has been close and hopefully only a matter of time with Adelaides performances. Colq I’m not too sure about. His DPP is handy to have though
Anyone with any news on him?
Anyone looking at Sinclair?
How long is Nic Nat out for?
Have 4 of the above & will keep an eye on T Lee for a cheap fwd option to trade Karnezis, if he has’nt learnt from getting dropped in R3 & actually get’s a gig in R4.
2 that I did see on the week-end that sparked my interest was N Wright from the Saints & S Mayes with (DPP) status from the Lions…..both looked composed & could be well worth the look if JS becomes apparent.
Wright (DEF) had 22 touches, went at 81 DE% & played 89% of game time
Mayes (MID/FWD) had 21 touches, went at 80 DE%, took 10 marks & played 83% game time, only thing is you are paying the extra $$$$ for him.
I belive its to early but what do we need to hear to put Macaffer on the chopping block? I don’t like the 2 game rookies and every year there are one or two. did he really do enough in a strong side to get another go or will he be squeezed out by more seasoned bodies coming back in to the side??
Alot of people will make either a Mitchell >> Crouch trade or even Kommer >> Crouch. Mitchell for me.
Liking the scores of Hutchins down back but just not sure if i’m going to make the Brown >> Hutchins trade. Think Dayne Zorko’s spud like 2013 is a greater priority for me.
Really concerned about Luke Brown don’t understand how he can score 12 after a 97. I am looking at trading him for Terlich or Hutchins who should I go for?
Great work BS
Im not sure if i should trade Crouch in or just hold on trading in any more rookies for now im thinking maybe Hill>Crouch but not sure yet my rookies are
Stevenson,
Pittard,
Goodes,
Terlich
Viney
O’Meara
Hill
Kommer
Bilcavs
Rowe
Dwyer
Neade
Macaffer
Hey All,
Long time reader, first time writer… ;P
I’m thinking of going Colquhoun –> Hutchins and Varcoe –> Sinclair which gives me some great FWD / Ruck flexibility. Thinking I’d start Rowe over Sinclair in the FWD line given Kruezer just went down and he’ll get lots of burn.
I’ll have 160k to play with next week and plenty of value growth between rounds.
Hard to tell if the Blues will show up though against the West Coast. I have Cox in the FWD line too so heyyyy. 😉
Cheers,
Snakecharmer
Very conscious of burning trades to chase $$$ but some of these guys are tempting…As with others I already have….
DEF
Goodes
Pittard
Stevenson
Heath
Terlich
MID
O’Meara
Viney
Wines
Whitfield
Kommer (probably keeping him at this stage)
RUC
Blicavs
Currie > Probably trade to Rowe this week
FWD
Dwyer
Macca
Neade
I don’t know if there is anyone up back that I would trade to get Hutchins and in the mids I don’t think I should chop anyone yet. I really don’t think swapping Kommer out after his 92 to maybe get him back in a few weeks is a good idea.
I have no cash so trades can only be like for like. The Port defender trio seem to be doing okay and seem to have good JS so makes Hutchins hard to get. Whitfield might come good but could be a downgrade to Crouch.
What are you thoughts?
T/U Go for it, 2 trades > Currie to Rowe and swap XX for Crouch or Hutchins
T/D Go Currie to Rowe but hold tight with the rest
Long time reader and technically 2nd time poster!
I have Suban in the backline.. he was a revelation in round 1 and saved my ass but has dropped off last 2 weeks so he may not even make BE.. Got 30k+ boost this week but want to trade him before this evaporates and also to improve points.. what would you do?.
TU – upgrade suban to hanley
TD – trade suban to Hutchins
Hey everyone,
Is it worth taking some quick cash and trading Bradley Hill out for Crouch? I could use it to upgrade a backmen to Hanley/Birchall.
TU: Do it
TD: Nope
Cheers.
Looks like Adam Goodes isn’t cutting it this year, and his BE is 127. I genuinely thought he’d average around 100. Last year he averaged 88 but if you take 2 bad scores out (25 & 49), it becomes 95.
TU: trade him out, he won’t come good & avoid losing cash
TD: keep him, he’ll come good.
Crouch is much the same height as danger and should fill out the same. Thoughts?
