BS Rookie Review Round 6

Written by Big Sexy on May 7 2013

Having been struck down with the Melb weather and subsequent flu, I’m keeping it brief this week.

My Top Five Rookie’s (<$200k) of the week:

1)    N Vlastuin (Def/Mid $159k)  Played two with scores of 39 and 72.  Drafted with Pick 9.  I got him last week and broke one of my rules of getting someone with only one game out of necessity. Loving the DPP as traded him into my midfield and then swapped him with Goodes in my back line to fill the void.

2)    J Clarke (Def $115k)  Played 2 with scores of 40 and 63.  195cm key position player.

3)    J Hannah (Ruck $109k) Played 2 and scores of 56 and 60.  A tall fella at 195cm can support Griffen until Sandi comes back.

4)    K Mitchell (Mid $137k)  Kane has played 4, but had the vest so often his price actually dropped after 3.  This week scored 59 with some game time but is still great value. Scores of 13, 15, 35 and 58)

5)    S Kerridge (Mid/Fwd $153k) Played 3, but still great value and with a score of 58 this week is headed in the direction we were all hoping in the pre season.  (Scores of 70, 28 and 58)

  1. Hope flu gets better BS. I too have the Melb flu. Vlastuin is awkwardly priced for me, wish he was 109.5k! Need to downgrade to a 109.5k rookie in defence so can then cull Dwyer to Daisy in fwd line. Roll on Friday. Want to play fantasy football and its only Tuesday

  3. I’M NOT RECOMMENDING THE FOLLOWING BUT ……

the following slightly above your normal rookie price players are scoring well but have a question mark over there JS and an equally large question mark over their capacity to maintain their current scoring output.

BUT …… i felt they needed to be mentioned in case someone wants to roll the dice.

    Hayden Crozier $219,400. Avg 88.5
    Plays for FURL.
    VERDICT – AVOID!

    Aaron Black $212,600. Avg. 85.5
North fans have been calling for him to get a gig in the big time for a while now and he’s come in and made an immediate impact against Hawthorn (87)and Port (84). You’d have to think that Brad Scott’s preferred line-up would be Petrie, Black and Tarrant as Majak’s created the buzz but Black’s got the job done.
    VERDICT – STRONGLY CONSIDER

    Jack Viney $198,700. Avg 58.8
Many of us had him and cast him side and for those like me that kept him he’s actually depreciated in value (argh!). Before you think i’ve gone insane by including them in this discussion, we know he’s going to play most of the season with no doubt a few more one week restings for good measure along the journey. Son of Todd could turn into a really valuable M9/M10 for you and with many looking to bring in Daisy into the mids Jack could just be a crazy person’s ideal downgrade target to help generate the necessary cash.
VERDICT – Could be a viable option for some this week.

  5. Thanks Don. assuring to know its not a daft idea! I too like the JJK to SJ trade if i had the cash. But alas need to find cash by downgrading a port def. But maybe next week will do o’meara to priddis. Getting exiting now as teams cull their fat calves for fallen premiums. My plan anyway. Murphy and nic nat my targets too.

  7. Anyone thinking of downgrading to K Mitchell now that he’s been re-upgraded to the senior list? He played a full game last week apparently.. 15 disposals. Still cheap after his first price rise thanks to all the vests he’s worn.

  8. The reason why i’m not getting on Stevie J is because, JJK will gain more in price so i’m going to wait for Nic Nat to go to about 570k or even less

  9. I have really enjoyed the musings today of one the great SC minds in Alasdair the man beautifully and thoughtfully putting together his team Don Cottagers!

His advise has been respectful and more to the point some of the best you’ll find, he is always high in the overall rankings and right up the top of the LoEC.

So do yourselves all a favour and take a few notes at what he has been saying, you won’t be disappointed.

  10. Considering you would be crazy to pick up Birch or Hanley this week, Is Vlas a nice cash-cow prospect?

  11. Supercoachers, what would you be thinking if you had the Frenchman?
He’s scoring well enough at the moment but should you be considering upgrading him??
