Reserves Rookie Review – Round 9

There are still some decent rookies playing reserves currently and we may see a few debut or play this week with some teams hit by injuries, let’s hope they can play well enough to hold their spots.

Constable had another great game with 28 touches, 5 marks, 6 tackles and 5 clearances as did Uwland with 22 touches and 6 marks. Moyle played well but not as much as usual with 12 touches, 5 clearances and 32 hitouts and Burgess kicked another 3 goals from 11 touches and 5 marks.

Rowston had his best game by a fair way with 33 touches, 4 tackles, 1 goal and a massive 19 clearances. Fahey played well again with 26 touches and 5 marks as did Derksen who kicked 5.1 from 15 touches and 7 marks. McMullin had 15 touches, 7 marks, 6 tackles and kicked 1.1 in his best game.

Sheldrick returned to VFL action with an excellent game as he had 36 touches, 6 marks, 9 clearances and a goal and probably plays in the AFL this week. Melican in his 2nd game of the year had 19 touches with 6 marks and is also in the mix. Edwards had his best game with 15 touches, 6 marks and 6 tackles and Rankin played well down back with 18 touches and 6 tackles. McAndrew played well again and may make his debut soon if Ladhams doesn’t return.

Some great games here with a few season highs as Peel beat the Eagles convincingly. Worner had 36 touches, 11 marks and a goal with Henry kicking 1.2 from 25 touches, 7 marks and 11 tackles. Wagner had 24 touches and 5 marks while Sturt kicked 2.2 from 24 touches and 8 marks. Emmett had 22 touches, 5 marks, 10 tackles and kicked 1.2. Hamling had 15 touches, 8 marks and a goal and Kuek kicked 3 goals from 14 touches with 6 marks.

Trew was one of the best for the struggling Eagles with 32 touches and 5 marks and Chesser got through his 1st game back from injury with 16 touches and 4 marks. Chesser may be the sub this week but is one to bring in for those that traded him out early on.

    1. No place for him in the mid or hb roles in the AFL. Next to no chance. Weller yet to come back in soon as well.

  1. A lot of good scores from the Freo rookies. Causes some concerns about whether Johnson will make a straight return from his 2 match suspension or if he will go back to the WAFL first
