Buddy?

Written by Motts on May 23 2013

Unless you’ve been living under a SC rock, you know that Buddy is priced at $443,100 with a 71 breakeven this week. And he’s playing the Suns.

So, what are you going to do with him?

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

  1. Traded him in this week but waiting to see if the club takes any further repercussions on his little bar disagreement…..

Looks like buddy needs to be kept under house arrest after each game.

Could be a lot more behind his price slump than just his contract negotiation.

Wont be surprised at all if he doesn’t renew with the hawks at end of season.

  2. I’m facing a dilemma here, who to bring in for Daisy since he’s pretty much done for the year:

    Thumbs Up – Buddy
    Thumbs Down – Natanui

I’m sure that Buddy will turn his form around eventually, but Natanui has been up and about also and WC play GWS this w’kend

  3. Versus hawks playing Suns at the g……

Captaincy/vice captain is gonna be tough this week. I would go buddy as vc but then have to use dangerfield or swallow for c.

No doubt west coast are gonna smash the Giants in the ruck. Just how many of the points will cox get versus nic nat?

  4. 2 goals for 100 SC points? Imagine how many he’ll get if/when he kicks a few bags! Welcome to the team, Budster.

  7. Ok i am sure Motts put this up because after round 3 I said I would run through the streets of Bangkok naked if he ever dropped below 450,000.

Now I am a Man of my word, so when I get back to Bangkok (Currently in China) I will full-fill my pledge and get some of my Aussie mates to take a couple of pics and post on the site. It will not be pretty, but hay live by the sword die by the sword.

There is no way I could not have Buddy, being a true Hawks supporter the man is a champ. I am just disappointed after picking Cyril he got injured there is nothing better than watching your team play, having players in your SC team burning it up, ok Buddy has been a bit off but and am just waiting for him to exploded he can get over 200 points on his day. 443,000 Never thought I would be typing that against Buddy you would be mad not to pick him.

  8. The facts are that buddy has been used as a forward target 24% of the time this year compared to 40% last year and similar numbers in previous years. Clarko (on the couch on Monday night) said this is a deliberate ploy to make the team less predictable. And as they are 7-1 they won’t be changing this approach. Buddy is still a champ who will have some blinders but I think his reduced scoring this year is explained 100% by the above, pure and simple.

For mine this means he is not a must-have but a nice-to-have, and for my team at the moment I’d rather be working on bringing in additional midfield guns as that’s where the big, and consistent, scoring comes from.

He’ll probably make his way into my team eventually and if that costs me an extra 50K over bringing him in now then so be it. SC is a game of numbers and the numbers on buddy right now don’t lie – he’s going ok and doing a job for his team. There was a lot of talk last week about him scoring 200+ points because he was up against a mob who got slaughtered by tom lynch the previous week. Well he didn’t, why would this week be any different?

  9. I’m torn as well, I can get him in but it will leave me with $0 exactly!!
The one trade I have done is Macaffer out for Thurlow via Staker.
I can push Rowe (or Gawn) out and fit Buddy into my Fwd line which would become

    – Cox, Stevie J, A Walker, JJK, Buddy, Dwyer – (Staker, Kerridge)

The Herd to cull in the Byes would be –
    Terlich, Thurlow, Colquhoun,
    O’Meara, M. Evans
    Kerridge , Dwyer, Staker

One or two of these could stay as bench cover… But I would be starting with a $0 Bank Balance if Rowe out now
T/U – do it, you can’t ignore the bargain of the Season
T/D – Buddy isn’t cutting it this year, wait for a better option

    Dale Thomas –> Nic Naitanui
Cashed in on Josh Kennedy –> Lance Franklin
