Burgoyne v Boyd

Written by Motts on March 19 2011

Your first 2 midfield guns are sorted and you’re now looking at the M3 position. You’re looking for someone that’s going to set you apart. Someone that is a proven performer. Someone that will play for you in the finals. Someone that is valued relatively cheaply.

I’m struggling to pick these 2 apart. How about you?

If any team were to sneak into the Top8, it'd be..........(two choices)

  1. Hey Motts, not sure if this poll has been done before, but can we possibly get one on what people are doing with Petrie? Starting him on bench, Trading him in after round 3, Not touching him.

  2. You could pick him up after rd 4, after he has played two games. That will give you a better look at his average and could potentially trade up one of your bargain-priced rookies after they have played 4 games.

  3. they’d only have two weeks of upgrades under their belt, probably not enough for this idea to be worth it

like the idea for a poll though

  4. Having Petrie will be vital for rounds 5 and 6 when Sandilands and Cox both have their byes. I’m starting with J, Tippett as R4 and planning on transferring Petrie in for a rookie (or C, Knights depending on how he’s going) in round 5.

  5. Burgoyne has been a proven supercoach stud in the past, i think barring injuries he should be back amongst the big boys in scoring, especially with the hawks looking at top 4 with a pretty injury free pre-season,

Cross is a gun and won’t move much

If ur looking at an improver take burgs but if u dont wanna risk it and have the cash go Boyd, especially with the first 3-4 doggie games very soft.

  6. You do know we’ve done a poll on those 2 – see the related posts above.

And yes I am a fan of Burgoyne. Have a look at the way he finished last year. When you’re finished doing that, have a look at the way Boyd finished it off.

  7. Whoops.
    My bad.
And yes, I’ll give him a bit more consideration.
I had Boyd last year before breaking his hand in round 4.
    He was averaging 120…

  9. Does anyone know why Boyd’s scores took a dive at the end of last season? Was he carrying an injury? Because up until round 18 he was absolutely killing it, and didn’t crack the tonne from then on.
