Burning Question – Rd5

Written by Schwarzwalder on April 21 2016

CUT AND RUN??

There were a number of mid-pricers that caught our eye during the NAB Challenge.  A few (if not most) are not performing as we would’ve hoped.  I’ve seen the following names pop up on the site this week, asking whether to TRADE or HOLD.  Those guys are Tommy Sheridan (FREO), Jesse Lonergan (GCS) & Nick Graham (CARL).  Some were already mentioned earlier in the ‘Movers & Shakers’ write-up.  Please advise your fellow SCT Coaches whether to keep them a little longer or simply move them on in the polls below.  As always, you can state your case in the comments section……..

(I’ve also added Tom Papley to the mix, as many are questioning his cow-fattening abilities since McGlynn came back into the side).

  1. Unless you have more pressing issues I’d trade all. Papley the only one is consider holding. Although I’m going Lonergan and Papley to Byrne and Merrett/Dalhouse/Zorko

      1. go wityh fyfe, the way i look at it Fyfe will outscore the others comfortbaly by years end and will also give you another VC and or C option straight away

  2. I’ve got Lonergan, Papley and Milera causing me issues at the moment. Will hold Papley for now seeing he’s at least shown the ability to score well whereas Milera has not. Milera to DBJ likely therefore.

In two minds re: Lonergan so very interested in the outcome of this poll but leaning towards trading him at the moment. Then a secondary decision on whether to go down to Byrnes and pocket the cash or up to Docherty.

    1. I’m in exactly the same boat. I’m trading milera and lonergan. Pending teams, I’m trading lonergan down and spending the money in mids and forwards. But I can only afford lonergan to docherty. I don’t know what cash you have but you may be able to trade him for eg: zorko. I like the idea of having cash up my sleeve for fallen premos or even fyfe

  3. My own team is trading out Papley, since I have only used 1 trade so far and want the cash I’ll get from DBJ. My girlfriend’s (tech) team, which has used 5 trades, is keeping Papley for the long haul; hoping he will rise more before the byes. Have a non-playing rookie to trade out for DBJ. So a lot depends on your exact situation.

  4. I am holding Lonergan he is playing and did get a 96 in round 1 so all he needs is a couple of good scores and his average won’t be to bad,

    1. Agree. He’s the least of my problems right now.

Papley has made 100k and has a breakeven as his average..time to go.

  5. Ive got Sheridan, Lonergan and Papley

Have traded out Sheridan to Darcy Byrne-Jones and am considering Lonergan to Ciaran Byrne…
Papley can have a few more weeks, he definitely has the potential to put on more money so not going to quickly use a trade on him. Even if he does have a pretty average game he wont lose heaps of money and I can trade him out next week when im sure

When teams come out tonight all my plans will change probably 🙂

    1. If I do trade out Lonergan should I go:

T/U Rance – 75 is now out of his scoring system and expected to rise by about 26k leaves me with 162.5k left
T/D Byrne – will make some money and gives me 569.9k left for future upgrades on cows

  6. Lonergan isn’t a massive failure but certainly has been disappointing. Sheridan likewise.

Neither is an urgent trade, but if a fallen premo or rookie beckons, it might be a good time to pull the pin.

    1. Spot on. I’m hoping Lonegan will be the 2016 version of Newnes (I.E. by the time I’m able to trade them out, they are doing what they are supposed to be doing).

  8. Will Stef Martin be a late out ( concussions aren’t good, and that was a huge hit ) with Goldie playing the twilight game before him on Saturday, I’ll be gutted if Stef is a late out & I also miss the boat on getting Goldie!

My burning question is SCT coaches…. Do I trade down one of my def rookies to a Byrne-Jones ( Port ) giving me enough $$$$$ to go Stef Martin to Goldie, or stop panicking Catta as Stef Martin will get up from his concussion & bang out a premium score

    T/U……Do the trade Catta
T/D……Cool ya jets Catta, all will be sweet with Stef
