If you managed to escape the whole Ahern debacle last week and had Mitchell or Gawn as Captain, then odds are you came away with a massive score…..congratulations! There is some good news and bad news in regards to Captaincy options this week.
Bad news is that Mitchell & Gawn are playing at the same time on Saturday night so you’ll only be able to choose one of them during Rd16. Good news is that West Coast play the last game of the weekend, so Captain Olango will give us plenty of time to find the right VC option.
Something a little different this week………I’m fast running out of adjectives for Gawn , Mitchell, Grundy and the regulars at the Captains Table. I’ve focused on the early games to try and find an alternative VC option…….you will still have Gawn/Mitchell/Grundy as a fall-back Captain option should these guys fail……….
As always, all times are shown in AEST………
Josh P Kennedy (SYD) Thursday Night 7.20pm (vs Geel) – The Swans Captain started extremely slowly by his lofty standards in Supercoach this year. Since Rd6 however, he has raised the bat on 8 of 9 occasions and has averaged 115pts in that time…….talk about flying under the radar! Has a habit of finishing the season off well so its hard to see him slowing down. Last six against the Cats: 125, 91, 117, 83, 122 & 115
Matt Crouch (ADE) Friday Night 7.50pm (vs Rich) – With Sloane back in the side, Crouch helped himself to 32 touches, nine tackles & 126 pts against the Eagles last week. Sloane receives much of the tagging attention which usually frees up Crouch. As Chillo pointed out in Fallen Premiums, Crouch averaged 125 after the Bye last year and he looks to be warming to the task once more. Last three against Richmond: 51 (injured), 125 & 111.
Patrick Cripps (CAR) Saturday Afternoon 1.45pm (vs Bris) – Is well on his way to Supercoach-Beast after averaging 117pts so far this season. It has been reported that Jarrod Berry will run with Cripps on Saturday……let’s see him try 😉 Cripps still managed a 92 with a hard Ben Jacobs tag, let’s see what Berry has got to offer. Last three against Brisbane: 118, 95 & 101
Justin Westhoff (PTA) Saturday Twilight 4.35pm (vs Stk) -The 31 year-old veteran has a habit of starting the season well then drifting off a touch. Not so much in 2018 though, where he’s also aided by a favorable draw…….beginning with the Saints at Adelaide Oval in Rd16. In good form of late with 114, 106 & 120 over the last three weeks. Last three against the Saints: 42, 109 & 132.
** Our stats man, Adam, is on a break for the next week or two. Wishing you a well-deserved and relaxing break, Champ!! **
