Weekend Review – Blues v Swans

Written by Motts on 7:40 am, February 23 2010

I lost a carton of Coronas and 2 limes on this game. One of my grubby mates who knows how enthusiastic I am around this time every year took advantage of my confidence before the bounce to get a bet on. Hope he chokes on ‘em.

SYDNEY

N Malceski ($273,500, 51.50) – Apparently he’s in great nick. He scored 93 so could be one of the pickups of the year if you trust his knee. I don’t.
L Jetta ($114,200) – looked freakish on occasion scoring 91 so if the last spot on your midfield bench isn’t already filled with names like Banner,

Rate My Team – Team 1

Written by Motts on 3:56 pm, February 22 2010

Al’s team
backs – Goodwin, Hodge, Bower, Kennelly, Greenwood, Schoenmakers, T.Hunt
bench – Silvagni, Thompson

Mids -Swan, J Selwood, Vince, Cooney, Anthony, Martin
bench – L.Jetta, Cunnington

Rucks – Sandilands, Kreuzer
Bench – Warnock, Trengove

Forwards – Riewoldt, Pavlich, Petrie, Franklin, Tippett, Yarran, Rohan
Bench – Dennis-Lane, Podsaidly

Overall I don’t think Al’s done too bad a job here – I’d give this effort a 7.5/10. His (I’m assuming Al is a bloke) weak spot is obviously in defence but he has plenty of captain options, he has very little value sitting idly on his bench and he has a number of players that can play at 2 positions (Dual Position Players [DPP’s]) to give him flexibility.

Rate My Team

Written by Motts on 12:00 pm, February 22 2010

Here at Casa Del SCT we’ve been receiving requests over the last few weeks to rate punters’ teams. We’ve held off until now on assessing teams but now that we’ve had a look at most of the boys that will be going around in 2010 via the first round of the NAB Cup we think the time is right to offer judgement. We’ll rate out of 100 the first 4 teams added to the Comments section of this article.

Weekend Review – Saints v Pies

Written by Motts on 9:46 am, February 22 2010

Don’t you love seeing Collingwood lose by a point? I know I do. Being in Adelaide for the weekend meant this match was actually delayed by about 90 minutes. I checked the scores on the internet at half time of the telecast planning to go to bed but seeing the final margin I just had to stay up to watch. The simple things in life are often the best.

SAINTS
A Schnieder ($428,700, 80.71) – You can’t argue with a 133 but will this guy be making my forward line? No.
D Armitage ($413,600,

Players Under The Microscope – Freemantle v Melbourne

Written by Motts on 10:21 am, February 21 2010

If it was on Free to Air I’d be able to watch it however it’s not so I’m just going to have to review the stats and read up on the game from the papers.

Players Under The Microscope – Geelong v North Melbourne

Written by Motts on 11:43 am, February 20 2010

It wasn’t until I’d started to review this game that i realised how few players i had from Geelong. Years gone by my team had at least 4 or 5 Cats, names like Ablett, Chapman,  Selwood, Bartel and Corey.

Now i look across my squad and see none of them ….. i think i need to do some rejigging in the coming days.

On the other hand, i rarely have players from North Melbourne, and this year no different. The only guy i had last year was Ziebell, and he’s currently not looking like getting a run.

Players Under The Microscope – Sydney v Carlton

Written by Motts on 12:30 pm, February 19 2010

Next game I’ll be looking at closely this weekend is the clash between Sydney and the Blues, i have very little interest in either team other than reviewing players performances …. unlike my mate Motts who is a one eyed Blue boy. I’ll barrack for the Blues in support of him.

So far i have these blokes listed in the starting 30 squad …. all are on notice and at risk of losing their positions if they don’t perform.

BACKS

T Kennelly – $320,700 and didn’t play last season

J Dare –

Players Under The Microscope – Saints v Pies

Written by Motts on 1:29 pm, February 18 2010

I’m looking forward to the game Friday night as there’s quite a few big names under the microscope for inclusions into The Mighty Ducks.

So far i’ve got the following blokes pencilled in …. by all means tell me why they should or shouldn’t make the 2010 starting squad.

BACKS

B Goddard – $613,600 and averaging 115

N Maxwell – $490,500 and averaging 92

MIDS

D Swan – $654,50 and averaging 123

L Davis – $591,700 and averaging 111

FORWARDS

N Riewoldt –

Weekend Summary – Bulldogs v Brisbane

Written by Motts on 7:00 am, February 18 2010

One of the things separating Dream Team from Super Coach is that SC normalises its points so that the sum of the 2 teams points always equals the same number. I can’t remember off hand what that number is but check the Herald Sun on Saturday morning which will have the sum of the Saints and Pies scores. Add them together then compare them with the sum of the Blues and Swans scores on Sunday morning and you’ll see what I mean. The point that I’ve taken a long time in getting to is that the condition of the oval at a game like this one will have no bearing on the scores because at the end of the day everything is normalised.

Weekend Summary – Hawthorn v Richmond

Written by Motts on 7:00 am, February 17 2010

Sam Mitchell ($576,300, 108.50) – 167 points = gun. The Extractor is one of the elite midfielders. Take your pick out of him, Selwood, Bartel, Corey and Judd. Has missed only one game in the last 3 years.

Luke Hodge ($485,600, 91.42) – A lock for your defence. 131 points on Saturday, plays up the ground, is healthy and is relatively cheap. Need I go on?

Lance Franklin ($466,700, 87.86) – Buddy’s back, baby. Hawks fans are already salivating at his 5.1 and 155 points (even if it was against the team that will come last this year).
