Community TEAM – Rd4

**POST UPDATED 23.4.16 at 9.40am

Due to time constraints, I’ve had to close the polls and finalise the TEAM.  Callan Ward is the replacement for Jade Gresham…….Welcome to the TEAM!  I’ll make sure we target Zorko as next upgrade, such was his popularity.  VC is Ablett & C is Fyfe, we can use Dunkley as our loophole option.

Thank you as always for your input and good luck this weekend, Coaches!!

If you’re reading this, then you are part of the TEAM.  Up to 300 Coaches have been consistently voting on our TEAM polls, shaping it to the strong line-up it is today.

Rd3 Score – 1929

Overall Ranking – 11 668

League Wins – 1 / 10

Remaining Trades – 28

Remaining Cash – $114 100

Trade History

Rd2: Tom Rockliff to Luke Parker & Michael Barlow to Jason Johannisen (via DPP)

Rd4: Jason Johannisen to Darcy Byrne-Jones & Jade Gresham to ???

TEAM-Stats-Rd4

The TEAM suffered the triple whammy on the weekend:  Matt Priddis as a late withdrawal on Friday night (Davis onto the field with 37 pts), Stefan Martin getting bulldozed by May in Brisbane & JJ ripping his hamstring while kicking a brilliant running goal.  Captains choice was same as most Coaches, ok but not great.  But seriously, Ablett & Danger were two very legitimate choices before the Round started.  We just have to put it down to ‘one of those weekends’ and move on as best we can.

Obviously we have some moves to make this week.  We’ll know more after teams are announced on Thursday night (Priddis, S.Martin & some rookies).  Johannisen has to go, don’t think I’ll have much argument there.  Was it chasing points?  Perhaps…….but it’s undeniable that he was showing great signs of a breakout year.  An injury like that is really just plain bad luck.  Fortunately we still have 28 trades in hand (glad we didn’t trade last week!), there’s plenty of room to move.

**UPDATE – 22.4.16, 6.50pm**

Ok, Coaches.  After bringing in DBJ for JJ, and Gresham being voted OUT of the TEAM, we are left with $597 400 to spend on a premium keeper.  With all the DPP options, we can bring in a keeper in ANY position.  We’ll try and finalise the TEAM as best we can until tomorrow morning.  Thank you for your patience this week, Coaches!

Gresham’s replacement.  If we don’t have a clear majority for any one player, then another poll (thanks again for your patience!) will go up in the morning with the Top2 players…………

  1. Lonergan can wait another week, BE of 75, made $10k+, won’t hurt to hold.

    If S.Martin is out
    Martin/JJ -> Goldy/DBJ

    Otherwise
JJ/Papley -> DBJ/Gibson (via DPP) or any other premium defender.

  2. Really need the teams before making a call, but I think if Martin doesn’t get named then he’s gotta go, can’t afford any donuts. Unless Cox gets named, I read somewhere that he is a good chance, if he does then go Grimley to Cox and keep Martin on the bench.

    1. Just wanna add, if Martin does get named, it’s gonna make the tribunals “severe” impact rating look like a big joke.

      1. Ok just me, should’ve probably clarified that I think the ban is fair and even a rating of severe is fair. But it wouldn’t be in line with the Tribunals own rules that base rating off medical reports/injuries, which I think is completely wrong.
This is one case where they’ve twisted the rules to get the right outcome, but last year when May hit Rocky and broke his ribs, they stuck to the rules and got a terrible outcome.

        1. I hear where you’re coming from but concussion is now such a disturbing injury that we have already seen players ‘retire’ because of it. It is not a 1 week or 10 week injury, it is potentially career ending! The AFL do have very good medical evidence in support of this and they are now applying harsher penalties for causing it.

          1. I hear you Uncle Drew, but also have to agree with the armchair critic. I also reckon Martin is extremely lucky that his jaw didn’t get re-arranged in the clash…….

  3. Not sure why everyone is rushing to trade Paps out, especially with cover. He has heaps more money to make once that 23 rolls out.

The back rooks are too good to have on the bench. I would trade JJ to a FWD (move Adams back), and maybe Lonergan to DBJ.

    So, JJ > Zorko.

      1. Agree with both above but i think the team has a larger problem looming with potentially no bench cover in the mids.
JJ to DBJ is the right call and they swap postions.
If Davis is not named we have no cover for another Priddis incident.
If that happens I like Menadue on the mid bench and Zorko on field.

      2. Like JJ to DBJ!

Move Tippa on field and DBJ emergency

        Then Papley out for Dahlhaus

BTW – Zorko would be my 2nd choice

    1. Unlike Papley, I don’t think there’s a question mark on Kennedy’s job security. Would be very surprised anyway

      1. Not sure i would be surprised, B Kennedy couldnt get a game at the Magpies and Melbourne have proved to be a better side than them. I believe the Dees now have good depth in his position, so he will need to perform to keep his spot in best 22

  4. Wait until stef named.

If not, either goldy or Mason Cox has to come in.

Stef was on target for a bigger score than Goldy before he got poleaxed, so I’m loathe to drop him.

If stef named, then JJ to Gibbo.

If not, (and cox named) Grimley to Cox.

    1. If Stef is only out for 1 gotta hold him.
but i also wouldn’t mind seeing Stef to Goldie and JJ to DBJ

  5. Plenty of good suggestions! Keep them coming in and I’ll sort out some polls when teams have been announced tomorrow night……

  6. Is anyone else thinking of the potential similarity between Brodie Smith last year and Martin after a concussion? Goldy has shown (albeit with a small sample size) that he will still return solid numbers this year and one more big score may see him out of reach for the rest of the year.
On the assumption that Martin is not named and that a trade is worth roughly 300 points, then Goldy scores 120 on the weekend and then leaves needing only him to outscore Martin by 10 points per week.
Where do I sign up for that deal?

    JJ to DBJ
    and
Martin to Goldy seems straight forward.
Papley and Lonergan can both wait til next week.

    1. JJ being traded is a certainty. If Martin doesn’t get up for the weekend, then a poll will decide what happens there too……….

    2. Hey Binge

Where did you get the 300 number from? Was it in one of Father’s articles or just a known estimate?
