Count The Donuts

Written by Motts on June 4 2012

How many trades you making this week?

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

And knowing what you know about this week’s teams right now (ie Pendles, Lewis, Scotland out, Smedts probably in), how many donuts are you planning on playing with in R11?

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

  1. At the moment I’m looking at 3 donuts, with Pendlebury out.

A quick inspection of the 4 teams I’m facing this weekend across my leagues suggest none will get away with any less than 5 donuts if none of them trade, so I should fare pretty well this week.

  2. 5 (6 if Selwood is out) in SCTTL. Only 2 in fwd line due to, to many r11 players. The rest are injury concerns I can’t cover because I’ve already got r11 bench spots filled.

7 in my team, when the plan was to actually ‘throw’ r13! (a popular choice).

I’m certain there is a lot of us in the same boat. Between my two teams, injuries I can’t cover are:
Scotland, possibly Shaw, Fisher, Pendlebury, Hawkins, possibly Selwood.

I see no point trading in a r12/13 when they will become a donut the week after.

  3. You should ask this again once the teams come out Motts! I got 3 for sure, but with Horse, Crapps, Redden (PA) and Joelwood all doubtful could easily be 7!

    Horrific… 😥

  5. I’m looking to go donut free this week, but only if
Geary, Spurr, joelwood, Horse, Kreuzer, Redden, A.Kennedy, Hall & Smedts all play……. I wouldn’t put a multi on it.

  6. Scotland, Joelwood, the previously unaware he was out Lewis and all of the round 11 outs has well and truly fucked my strategy. I was looking at 3donuts for the first 2 weeks then 1 in the last round but all of the above and LTI trading prior is the straw that has broken the camels back. FUSC FUDT FURL FULTI FUMBR.

  7. The next 3 weeks should be very interesting….

I have aimed since the start of the year to save trades, and save them for the byes. I have tried to do my best with planning the byes, making sure every trade I made, kept with my bye plan. Hopefully I can use these 3 weeks to claw back some much needed points. I am going for the highest overall position I can get but am also hoping for a league win in my Cash League.

    I have 14 trades left.
I should be only copping 5- 6 donuts in these bye rounds.
Most of these donuts will come this week- round 11: (4/6).
After these bye rounds I will have used 5 trades and will have 9 trades left. This will only leave me with about 2-3 upgrades to do.
I have been using the Excel spreadsheet from DT talk- which I must say, is brilliant, even though I prefer this site than there.

Hope everyone here on SCT gets through the byes without having to eat a dozen pack of Krispy Kreme’s.

  8. OMG LEWIS! WHY?!?! Didn’t even realise he was gone until I saw that… Cheers Motts!

Anyway, including Pendles and Lewis, I have 6, with only 2 playing midfielders (LOL!) and Selwood may be out with knee, probably not, but if he is then that is 1 playing midfielder! Hahaha these 3 rounds are a joke!

  9. Looking at 1 this week depending on if Couch plays.

One the following week (unless Waters challenges and beats his suspension)

    And none in round 13.

  10. Throughout the season I’ve tried to trade off many of my GWS rookies, holding Rd12,13 bye rookies as they will become quite useful for upgrading during the byes, whilst at the same time avoiding donuts.

Planning on trading out the following rookies directly after Rd11 and Rd12 for players who have already had their bye.
    Magner, Pfeiffer, Horsley, Morris, Ellis.

If I can find suitable upgrade and downgrade targets for each of these guys, Magner > Priddis being the obvious one, I’ll be able to cover 5 donuts, while continuing the normal pattern of upgrading rookies to premium keepers. With 14 trades left, I am still well equipped to do this, and I would encourage a similar trading strategy through the byes rather than closing your eyes and hoping for the best.

  11. Think I’m going pendles to priddis, smith to cloke, this will leave me with only one upgrade to do and 11 remaining trades.

  13. 3 round 11 byes, could be 6 (shaw,scotland,pendels =.=)
2 round 12 byes, preety happy with that
    3-4 round 13, not bad i guess
gonna lose round 11 no matter what now, since pendels/scotland not worth traing them out

round 13 will upgrade ellis or morris should be 3 dougnuts

  14. Anyone else looking at Dan Nicholson from Melbourne this week?
I’m thinking if Horseley gets dropped he’d be a decent trade (or even for A.Kennedy). He’s a mid/def (so would be a good link during the byes),worth $276k averaging 85 (22 disposals both weeks).

    TU = good thinking
    TD = you’re crazy!

  15. Looking at some of the carnage already starting I think I will sit back this week and save all trades. If the SCT gods are on my side (Heppell, Selwood, Horsely, Redden, Stephensen & Smedts all play) then I will only be copping the one donut with Porpoise. NicNat, Giles & Zorko are also the only ones not playing that I would ordinarily have on field so I’m hoping for a solid show this week. RD12 & RD13 hold some bigger challenges obviously.
