Small or Far Away, Father Dougal on Cows

Hi Everybody!

As cows get less and less relevant, so does Cow Talk.  The issues of the week seem to be a lot like the issues of the previous week, again. So, I’m getting stuck.  Soooo….I’m opening up Cow talk to ideas. If there is something you would like me to run numbers on, write about, or just ramble on about, let me know in the comments, and I’ll see what I can do.

This week, I’m gonna let the numbers speak for themselves.

Remember the Cow Talk guarantee: “All predictions wrong or triple your money back!”  (Offer not valid if money is actually involved.)

I am time-zonally challenged.  When Cow Talk goes live I’m probably asleep, so replies from me may take a while.

Thanks for reading!

  1. Same request again, any chance of getting Bramble’s numbers please FD or CT? I know there are a few punters who are in the same boat as me and have to decide whether to trade out this week or hold for another 1 (or 2)!

    Much appreciated.

  2. Father I have no idea why you waste your time calculating the price or does nobody owns. The only relevant cows at this time of year are probably Bramble and Sharp. Maybe a couple of others such as Bianco and Brockman.

  3. Looks like Bianco’s table has been duplicated with Nathan Murphy’s.
Also, could I please get the numbers for Josh Treacy? Thanks.

  4. I’m not sure how to frame this question, measure it or if there’s even a straight answer, but an idea I’ve always been dubious of is ‘corrective trades’ for rookies at the start of a season.

I traded Highmore and Bergman after they both got dropped for R3, to Jordan and someone (maybe McNeil). Both Jordan and McNeil were great assets, but were they actually worth a trade in the long run?

My query or… suggestion for a ramble, isn’t specifically about Highmore v Jordan, but – looking ahead to next season – a broader discussion on the true merit of corrective trades (or are people just looking for an excuse to start trading)? Is it better just to back those rookies to regain their spot like Bergman, or jump on seemingly must-have rookies like Jordan at all costs?

    1. Great idea Matt,

I too would be interested to see long term rookie returns across a season.

Interestingly I was recently thinking about players who I’d traded out earlier in the year, only for them to come good later. Would the net gain for my team as a whole have been the same had I have just held?
