Cow Talk Round 15 –> 16

Small or Far Away, Father Dougal on Cows

Cough.

Just cough? No Moan?

Yeah, I’m past the moaning part. Still with some of the coughing part. It’s getting old.

So, you gonna write something interesting this time?

That’s the plan.

Squeak!

Heh, good one, first time for everything, heh heh.

Ah, right. Walked into that one. Anyways, I’ve had a variety of things wander through my head, not literally thank you, and I didn’t manage to remember most of them. I know “Don’t take Robbie Gray, he’ll burn you like a really hot burning thing” was one of them, but the time for that has past.  Besides, he’s done ok the last three weeks, so might be best I didn’t say that.

So, this week?

This week is mostly a reminder to use a bit of math when making decisions, and also the whole sideways trading thing. With just eight rounds left, there is not much time to get value out of trades when going between premiums. No problem upgrading someone like Hore or Brodie Smith to Hurn or Whitfield. Eight rounds of 20-40 point of improvement pays off quickly. But if you upgrade a 90 point Sicily to a 105 point someone, then you will get 120 points from it, which is ok, but might not be as much as you get by replacing a premium who will miss two weeks. Upgrades from non-premiums to premiums good, but going from uninjured premium to uninjured premium maybe not so good. And, wow, so many injuries, like always, so risky to use a trade you do not have to.

I was going to use trading out Gawn as an example of how to use math practical-like, where if he misses a week you need the guy you bring in to make (Gawn’s score over the last seven rounds/8) in order to break even, which might not be easy, and more like ((Gawn’s score over the last seven rounds+100)/8) to come out ahead, which is even less easy, but someone beat me to that, (grumble) and now I can’t because I don’t want to look like I am copying.

But you just did?

No, I explained why I wasn’t, which is clearly not the same thing.

Um…

CLEARLY not the same thing.

SQUEAK!

See, even the Hamster agrees! You are outvoted.

Whatever. Anything else?

I”m pretty sure there should be, but I’m already way tired and still have to say something about the cows.

Do you?

…Yeah, might be short something, but I want to. Been going a bit mad over the last few weeks. No comments to how hard it was to tell!

A bit would be an improvement. Heh.

Sigh.

Defenders

Hore – Of course his peak value was the last week that 116 was in his three round average. Most likely going to settle down after one more week of dropping.

Duursma – Like Hore, but with the 108 being his high score. Hard to see keeping if you can use him to upgrade from.

Wilke – Should have been up or down graded already. One or the other, not both.

Rozee – Also Should have been up or down graded already. One or the other, not both.

Answerth– Hey, he scored better! With luck he will make enough more to matter, if you can spare a trade to take advantage of that.

Logue– Could end up helping out late in the season if things go well.

Midfielders

Walsh – Close to stabilizing. Injuries have kept me from upgrading him, which is a pain since he has lost money and probably will lose more.

Stack– Wow am I sad I did not get him in. Just amazing player and cow.

O. Baker– Slowly growing, seems to have a job. No jinks!

Hately – Cash to come if he can just hold his spot. Not gonna bother with no Jinks. Sigh, well, No Jinks. Just in case.

D. Clarke– Also slowly growing. Three no jinkses for the charm.

Rucks

O’Brian – I hate that I traded him out when it looked like he would lose his spot. I blame sickness induced brain fever. Which is a sickness. That I had. I think.

Forwards

Setterfield – Only here so there would be at least one forward. Might go next week anyways.

Remember, all predictions wrong or triple your money back!

Apologies in advance for delays in responding to comments, ’cause sleep and work. Stupid time zones.

Please let me know what I missed and messed up in the comments. I’ll try and fix and add tomorrow afternoon.

Thanks for Reading!

  1. Good on ya FD.
Also missed Stack and I’ve no idea why/how! He looks great for the year after next. Hell, maybe even next year?!
O’Brien? I also traded him out at that first price-peak looking thing, but via Bines and Setterfield, bought in Macrae. He has scored huge points AND been on field. I’ll take it!
Of course if SuperMax doesn’t get up this week, it’ll hurt a little (that’s why I bought Lycett a week ago today). Has worked out very well so far. Meh! Moo!
    Welcome home 🙂
