Discount Premium Defenders

Written by Motts on June 13 2012

At least one of these blokes has probably been in your SC team at some point in the past. On their day they can dominate a backline chipping it around or bombing it long to a running wingman. Right now they’re as cheap as chips.

Which one represents the best value for money?

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

  1. My focus is on upgrading the midfield, but Newman in the low 400s is very interesting

    After the bye Ellis-Newman

  2. Is it bad that I have both Newman and Drummond? Not to mention Birchall, Lake and Clarke. My defence still scores pretty well with only the two Premiums in Waters and Goddard but is there too many mid-pricers?

  3. Had my eyes on upgrading Ellis and Morris to Suckling and Newman for a while now, but it annoys me how they’re all Rd13 bye players which means I will have to cop 4 donuts in defence that round (Goddard, Deledio, Yagmoor, Spurr).

Was originally planning on trading Morris and Ellis after Rd12 for defenders with the Rd11/12 byes to prevent 2 donuts, but there aren’t really any defenders from these rounds at bargain prices at the moment (maybe Heppell?)

Just cop the extra 2 donuts? Or find the extra cash and spend big on Waters and M.Johnson?

  4. What do we think of Adcock guys????

I can move Dempsey, Clarke and Horsley for Adcock, S.Shaw and Priddis this week.

Leaves me with a back line of Goddard, Delidio, H.Shaw, Broughton, Adcock, Lake, Bugg, (S.Shaw) & (A.Darley).

After the bye will look like below (with 7 trades)

Broughton, Lake, H.Shaw, Adcock, Delidio, Goddard, Bugg, (S.Shaw) & (Darley)
Mitchell, Boyd, Ablett, Watson, Pendlebury, Priddis, (McDonald) & (Zorko)
    Cox, Giles, (Redden) & (Stephanson)
    Franklin, Dangerfield, Pavlich, S.Johnson, Martin, J.Lewis, T.Cloke, (A.Kennedy) & (T.Adams)

  5. Drummond is too much of an injury risk. And I think the reason Suckling and Newman have dropped down in price so much is a role change. Richmond aren’t really crossing the ball in the backline they are just going straight and hard, playing it through Deledio more then ever, which may change if Deledio gets tagged. And Suckling seems to go up on the wing rather than a rebounded defender where Birchall and Gibson are now the main people doing that.
