Written by Motts on March 27 2011

We’ll get into the deep stuff tomorrow morning but right now, who is going to get traded out of your team on Friday week if they don’t pull their socks up next week?

  1. Not anyone definite, as some players like Boak or Boyd might have had an off week. Franklin should have scored a 100 i reckon and Goodes didn’t play as well as I thought.

Most likely wait until round 3 to make any trades.

    Was happy with:
-Tapscott, [even though i didnt play him]
    – Libeatore, Lester and Duigan.
    -and Dangerfield.

  2. Michael Johnson was supposed to be cherry ripe but was hopeless and the gamble on Gamble did not pay off!!! I am trying to keep my patience, but if those turnover merchants don’t lift next week they will be in strife!!!

Although, after a long pre-season sweating on my team only to be let down in week one, I now know what it feels like to be a tigers fan hahaha.

  3. A few on the block:
    J. Selwood (depending on injury), M. Clark, A. Didak, B. Harver (the way he is going thusfar!), N. Riewoldt, Deledio.

  4. Varcoe heading to gallows. Dangerfield lurks as likely replacement.

Selwood?? If he’s not named in R2 i’m looking at Bartel. Have already started talks with his manager.

Battle of the Riewoldts next week will decide which one plays in my forward line.

Goodes will come good at home next week.

  5. Was pretty happy with most of my boyz….. Particulary my faith in Enright & Dangerfield… Esp given he had 11 at half time. Selwood hurt me badly, but can’t be helped…. Made a bad coaching decision playing Duigan, when I could have fielded McKernan or Lower…. I expect Buddy, Roo, Goodes & Boyd will all lift. Cox & Swan won me my primary league on their own!

  6. I would be more concerned about holding onto your trades Vs chopping people after 1 week?

With the amount of injuries this round, Im thinking that this year is going to be carnage! Maybe the sub is not going to slow down the number of rotation but will cause more injuries as players have more time on the ground?

    Anyways is a long year….

  7. its the first week and people have 5 or 6 on the chopping block! You should have had your team pretty much finalised b4 rd 1! yes you have 4 more trades but people shouldnt be doing sideaway trades in rd1

  9. Beat you Motts!!!

There’s some super hot league’s out there. 3 of my five leagues had noone under 2000 and i was pretty much the lowest score in one of them (with 2167).

  10. Ended with 2207, pretty respectival.

No one will get the Chop mainly due to i think Yarran will bounce back against GC and that Selwood will be back at his best. They were my only 2 scorers below 65 that were not rookies. Although i must admit i was quite impressed with Phil Davis

  11. Anyone going in the Supercoach Gold Live Draft thingy?

Motts, is it worth setting up a post/discussion on this?

Some banter about the pre-draft lists would be interesting.

  12. For anyone that’s interested, My Round 1
With the scores Goodes, Varcoe, Yarran, Boomer and Buddy dished up I can only be happy with my score (2119) It was hard to pick which rooks to put on and who to tag as an E but got it right with Lower and wrong with McKernan, but 1 round isn’t gonna make me beat myself up too much, very interested to see whick rooks can throw up consistent scoring (Ed Curnow bandwagon leaving the station now…all aboard???) like i said before Round 1, put too much time into team to thrash it yet.
Good to see Big Cox up and firing (never get tired do they)
I had Pendels as Captain and that’s where I lost some private league match-ups, Swan being the winnner against me.
As for my POD, Liam Shiels got me 84, and Easton Wood 60, will have to keep an eye on EW, or just bring Heppell off the pine. All in all I can see improvement in a lot of my team and look forward to round 2. Gonna get interesting with the GC boys.

  13. Bit harsh on Nic R fellas. 86 isn’t THAT bad and they play a bunch of spuds next week. I’ll be sticking with him. No trades for me this week.

  16. TRADE 1: I. Smith for Darling… kicking myself I didn’t do that. I did then changed it, lol.

Wasn’t until last night that I realised I had no WCE players, and my Nth ones were on the bench (more on that next paragraph)

Stupid question but the bye’s just go the same as the actual draw do they?? For some reason I thought North also had a bye round one (must have just assumed Petrie out rd one, North out, idiot!!). Therefore Adelaide players need to be on my bench this week? So Otten and Knights are off, I’m bringing on Lower and Tapscott. Wishing I’d had Cam Richardson on this week!!

TRADE 2. Ed Barlow WB mid/Curnow PTA ruck- any suggestions there? they seem to be a weakness.

Jolly/Vs Leunberger – torn ?? I think Leuey offers good value but I’ve been told to stay clear until maybe nect year, I think Jolly is obviously going to be more consistant.

  17. Easton Wood went off with an ankle injury that, Eade said, was likely to sideline him for six to eight weeks.

  18. I can cover him with petrie next week, and find out curnow is the real deal. Just a bummer to have 475k player on my bench..

  19. consider warnock or mcevoy
st kilda are without another ruck for atleast a couple of weeks so te burdens on him

  20. managed to pull out 2147 this week, not bad considering i only got 7 100+ and had spuds of the likes of selwood, buckley, duigan, goodes and everitt..
that said, im relatively happy with my team so this week im only considering:
-downgrading gaff to curnow or irons to free up some cash (mid consists of-swan, selwood, judd, kennedy, swallow, heppel- harris, gaff, liberatore)
-swapping buckley for someone with more chances throught the year- someone like pederson? any other possibilities? already have toy, duigan, lower and mckernan
    – if kennedy doesnt do so well next week, should i consider cotchin?

  21. Pretty happy with most of my boys, got 2327, if boak dosnt kill the eagles next week I might look at a trade, maybe him for dangerfield. But I’d prefer to keep my trades

  22. scored 2268 which i am very happy with considering its week 1 and had a lot of players underperforming. Will sit of the trades this week but if Dangerfield fires again and Yarran spuds it up again i may consider the switch at round3 after the crows bye. Also not too pleased with Everitt from sydney, but hopefully he adjusts to his role better and starts knocking out so handsome scores

  23. Got me 2148

Best score I’ve ever had since I was noob last year haha. Couldve been higher if it wasn’t for selwood, yarran and cross but I’d hold off trades till after round 2.

  24. and just on a side note, i also did an experiment and made a second team using mainly all the mid pricers and still managed to score 2150. Maybe its not a bad stratergy afterall

  25. Late move i swapped deledio for cam bruce….not happy with that decision….i know deledio didnt score to well but what the hell was i thinking!! see how bruce goes next week…if i get another 50 odd he’s gone.

  26. Yep 8 weeks it is.
Wait till the end of next round to see who backs up this weeks performance then make a decision. You cant base a trade on 1 week of footy…especially week 1.

    Crazy week for injuries!

  27. thanks Michael I am a St. Kilda supporter… love Macca (can kick a very handy goal also). However I already have Goddard and Hayes. Was going to say I had Rooey too but I’ve got his cousin, traded him out last minute (good supporter, hey 😛 )
Was also thinking Warnock… decisions decisions…

  28. Not Happy with:

    – Yarran (will trade if doesn’t perform well next week).
    – Selwood (hopefully plays next week, safe)
    – Goodes (was on fire 1st half, safe)
    – Franklin (hard to say will keep him for a while, unsure)

  29. 2139 with Byod Goodes Selwood Franklin and Reiwoldt all well under par. I didn’t have many on the bench score but have mostly GC players as cash cows. I’ll see how I go next week before deciding on trades. May trade sideways for Curnow, Mckernan and Tapscott after they have played their second game. I don’t see anything wrong with that if you can make a shart load of cash doing it.

  30. 2282 with a few disappointing performances, ie Goodes, Franklin, JP Kennedy. Sandilands/Cox ruck combination was an inspired choice: 13.2% from two players. Was tossing up between Cam Richardson and Luke Tapscott for the last possie in fwd and for the emergency, and of course I make the wrong choice. 113 for an emergency 🙁

Too early to be looking at trades, after all there has been only 1 round!!

  31. I know this is a stupid question, but as a first time SC’er I’m curious as to why it’s such a bad idea to trade the first round when the rules state that unused trades don’t carry over to the next round.
    Feels like I’m missing something.

  32. If you have an injured player, i.e Brown, then you should trade him out, but if you want to trade someone out for 1 crappy game they might come out next week and punch out a ton. The main reason why we have trades is to cover for injuries, but everyone has 24 trades and no one can really tell us how to use them :D.

  33. Exactly, but just make sure the player you’re trading in gets a game this week, so you’re better off waiting til the final teams come out.

  34. agree that its a bit early to make a call on N riewoldt, he was playing 2 – 3 guys, he’ll get better

  35. Unused trades don’t carry over. This means you can only make a maximum of 2 trades per week. If you don’t use one you can’t make 3 the next week. But you still only have 24 trades in total.
