Over the past decade Selwood has been regarded as one of the most durable and consistent SuperCoach players.  Geelong has a very deep midfield now however (in terms of SuperCoach scoring) and Selwood has two consecutive seasons of averaging below 110 pts (first time in his premium scoring history).  With his game style starting to take a toll, his relevancy is starting to diminish. Could be an upgrade target post-bye if he dips below the $500,000 range and regains his form from yesteryear(s).

Verdict: Upgrade target

  1. Can never right him off and always seems to find himself at such an enticing price at some stage during the season.

However id much rather Duncan. Can see Selwood possibly playing in a different role at some stage (has played at half back occasionally last year and can see that being a thing Chris Scott explores.) I see Geelongs main go to trio being Danger, Kelly and Duncan however theres so many players who could start in the guts im just guessing really!

  2. Awesome as always Adam!
After pulling together the total points v total averages from last year, and excluding Titch (injured) and Danger (F1) Selwood is actually the 6th highest scoring mid and played all 22 games (he’s durable!!)

It’s made me re-think my selections as I think he and even Ward (loss of Shiel and same score as Selwood basically) may well be very solid mids to start with.

The ones that are the ‘unknowns’ are Kelly and Fyfe – much higher averages, but can they be trusted to not breakdown again (or be suspended!) – hmmmm lots to consider before first bounce!!
