The Fallen Premiums – Season Review 2014

Written by MJ on August 28 2014

It’s been another enjoyable year bringing the Fallen Premiums to you all each Thursday morning. Every season throws up opportunities throughout the year to select gun players that are priced considerably below their true value or potential scoring ability. As we all know, the key to SuperCoach is grabbing these blokes at the right time in exchange for our cashed-up rookies. Naturally, there were some selections that didn’t live up to expectations, however presented before you is the best-of-the-best from the Fallen Premiums Posts this year.

As with Badger’s Midpricers, comment below with your 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 votes from this list, taking into account their price and average from point of nomination. I’d like to crown SCT’s ‘Fallen Premium of 2014’ next Thursday.

  1. #1 has to to big GOLDIE for me. picked him up at his lowest, and has been super duper ever since – even winning me some finals as loophole captain!

  2. Looking at that list, I picked up Harvey, Selwood, Nic Nat (on-sold later on), Hanley and Parker at their lowest prices. Many thanks MJ then for your weekly advice.

But a number of the others are ones I brought in or started with at much higher prices so cost myself a bit of doush with them.

    Votes-wise then:

    5 – Goldstein
    4 – Riewoldt
3 – Priddis (despite costing me a Prelim last week)
    2 – Ward
    1 – Parker

  3. An impressive share! I’ve just forwarded this onto a colleague
who has been doing a little research on this. And he actually
ordered me lunch simply because I stumbled upon it for him…
lol. So let me reword this…. Thanks for the meal!! But yeah, thanks for spending some time
to talk about this topic here on your web page.

  4. Cheers MJ for the fallen premium articles. I picked up ward after you highlighted him in round 6. He was not even on my radar as a possible mid premo before then so I have to thank you.

    1. Goldy. It’s not to late to jump on is it? I’m not joking. Considering a sideways from sandi for the final. Should have done it weeks ago.
    2. Hanley. Cheap and won me a couple of games.
    3. Ward. Pity he got injured.
    4. Priddis. Prelim final is a bad time to throw in a stinker. Hope healed it up this week.
    5. Goddard. It’s been a while since he has been available at a price like that

  5. Great articles MJ.

For me, my rated selections were:
    1) Duckwood (rnd 10) for $549,500
    2) Libba (rnd 8) for $523,700 and;
    3) Parker (rnd 7) for $501,000

For the others from your list it would then have to be Goldy and Buddy (started with him and traded out early and never had chance to get him back in … big mistake!!)

Incidentally, my worst choices were probably Minson instead of Goldy and Fyfe for Ablett (oh, and Smurf in Rnd 7 instead of Rocky!!) … and there went my finals … Cheers!!
