  1. I’m back from europe after a month!

Made it to the finals of the minors but 4 doughnuts scuppered any chance of a win. Season average of 2051

Overall an interesting 1st year of supercoach, narrowly missing out on the finals on %. Poor knowledge & selection of rookies cost me, wasted too many trades early on, getting in the likes of barlow, rockcliff, pods, waters, etc.

Great site lads, truly great work. hopefully see you next year, maybe join one of the leagues this time?

    1. We’ll put the call out early next year for people to join leagues. MS. Preference will be shown to those like yourself that have contributed this year.

Great first year average. It will only improve next year with a healthy dose of advice from SCT pre-season.

      1. cheers Motts, i didn’t find this site until after my initial team selection so i expect a big improvement next year!

I was crushed that 5 months work was wasted by not making it to the finals, but my disappointment has been tempered by Carlton doing what i couldn’t. Bring on the Swans!!!

        1. I reckon Carlton is a sneaky chance against the Swans, especially if Mumford doesn’t come up. The winner plays an out of sorts/injury riddled Doggies in week 2. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. I got done in my grand final, the writing was on the wall early when just after lockout I noticed I had Goddard as captain when I wanted GAJ. Oh well, finished with an average of 2119.86 which I’m really happy with and owe a lot of it to this site, thanks all. Thankfully I had a good day on the punt on Saturday, (an activity which will consume more of my time now that SC is done) and a shout out to So You Think which got the choccies in the Memsie.

  3. I won 2 Grand Finals, which was nice but sadly missed the 8 in my paid comp. The annoying thing is I would have made the Grand final (and probably won it) had I made the 8…..

    slowroast – 2118.73 (46,612)
    slowroast MKII – 2236.8 (44,736) – Started after round 2, played 20 rounds

I was a little disappointed that my round 3 created team didn’t average better.

Thanks to Motts, BS, Duck and everyone else for all the great tips, news and banter all year. It’s been required reading every day! ๐Ÿ™‚

    WEEKLY AVG: 2,236.41
    LEAGUES: Won 3 from 3

    GOOD MOVES:
    * Picking cheapies in JPod, Barlow, Rockliff, Waters, Maguire, Trengove (Melb) @ the start
    * Upgrades to Swan, Judd, Cross, Goodes & Jolly in particular

This year i really got my head around how SC works. Understanding breakevens and that bad scores leave the system after 3 weeks allowed me to get the most $$ out of my upgrades which gave me an extra premium or two come seasons end.

Loved the site boys and going on Friday night to Geelong vs St Kilda and really looking forward to watching a game and not caring if GAJ is getting enough of the pill and if my opponents players are getting too much of it!!

      1. Particularly when you consider i was 39,513th after Rnd 6!!

If it wasn’t for some poor mid priced selections in Vince, Dangerfield (like Neil Craig i too misread the Crows formline), Joel MacDonald, Ladson, Mitch Brown, Ziebell & J. Hunt the final placing could’ve been even better.

Next year i think i will recruit more cheapies and less mid-priced players and leave more coin in the bank for those all important upgrades.

this illustrates the importance of not using your trades too early to try and keep up with the jones’.

  5. Like so many others I found this site after the season started, but some great advice from all was very much appreciated. Second season in S/C for me and avg. 2106.36 (46,340) big improvement on last year and looking forward to next year. First year in D/T and lost the G/F, very happy overall. Oh, came equal second in footy tips and made $225 as well!

  6. Final average 2124.36. Really happy with how everything went this year, a few dud trades early in the season but I won’t be making those same mistakes come 2011.

  7. Really enjoyed the site lads. KUTGW. Looking forward to next year and am up for any leagues you may have going.

    My final wash up was:
    Overall 6055
    Average 2198
Won my league grand final by 189 points.

Once have learnt a lot and am already thinking of how to tackle next year which will be interesting with the bye and a new side. I am thinking more of a guns/rookies strategy. Can’t wait for it to all start again.

  8. I have only posted a couple of times throughout the year, but read the site religiously. Would like to thank all the Big Sexy, Motts and Duck for all their hard work, and to all the others that leave some great comments and insightful posts.

I personally finished off the season strongly, avg 2213.95 to finish 3,575 overall, and a lot of that was due to this great site.

Thanks again all, and hope the spring carnival posts are still going ahead.

  9. Like everyone else would like to extend the plaudits to all and sundry at SCTalk and all the other contributors, I was pleasantly surprised to find so many lovers of Supercoach at the start of the year and have enjoyed the banter and advise… and dishing some out as well!
Finished in 1716 overall with an average of 2233… happy and disappointed in a way as I was inside the top 1000 for most of the year and disappointed with my finals efforts (where I folded like a deck of cards) considering I went in with 4 trades remaining…
As a wise old sage said to me halfway through the year when there was considerable gloating on my behalf going on ‘Pride comes before a fall’…

  10. final score 50,360 with a 2289.09 avg and a overall ranking of 83rd…

    1. Good call on Knights, whilst he probably deserved another opportunity in the eyes of most, I personally think he’s a pretty average coach… esp when you compare him to Brad Scott who carries himself very well. I think a good move for the Dons.

  11. Horrible final week for me! Managed only 1726 to loose both my finals.

With no J Brown, Didak, Hodge, Enright, Selwood, Cooney and then Hitchcock I didn’t have a chance. Really disappointing end to a good and fun supercoach season!

With that crappy final week score my average ends up at – 2148! and dropped back over 5,000 places to finish 20,129 of 390,367.

Cant wait for next year and would love to be in one of the leagues on here!

Cheers Sir Mottsy, Duckman and BIG SEXY!

  12. My final round score pulled my average down big time, but ended up with an average of 2167.64. I won 1 grand final, but got smashed in my other one… only had 20 scoring players, scored 2020. I am now going through where i need to improve on, and im looking forward to next year!!

Now I can sit back, relax, and watch the Pies win the flag! ๐Ÿ˜›

    1. Personally I’m gonna stay away from Pav, Higgins, Tippett and ROK. Mumford finished the season as the most expensive ruckman ($51,000 more than Sandi) so I’m not sure you’d class him as mid-pricer. Next year I’m not gonna muck around in the rucks. I started this season with Tippett and Jolly and then had moved them on by about R5 – dumb. Rocky will probably get a gig first up. He works really hard all across the ground and became a good consistent scorer – 13 consecutive price rises this year was damn impressive.

Do people think that players’ positions will stay the same next year or will the good folk at CData take into account the roles they played this year? E.g. GAJ as a mid/fwd, Reg as a def instead of def/fwd

      0

      0
      1. yeah i was also wondering about that as Pav played for permanent forward this year.

Also another i forgot to mention is Daniel Stewart, great last game and look good in the last few rounds of this season

        1. Keep in mind that D.Stewart played on a first-gamer yesterday (Grimes). More impressive last round, and this year, was Grant from the Bullies.

Scored 45198 and 9th in one SC league.
Hope to do better next year. Its a bit different to NRL Supercoach,-some good some bad.20 trades instead of 30 . NRL play some league matches through bye rounds
The hardest thing was learning about the “rookies” from up here, with little info apart from websites like this
Hope to contribute next year- some may like to try their luck on NRL Supercoach next year.
    Thanks again

  19. The more i think about SC and while it’s still fresh, throw a few names around for season 2011, the more i come to the conclusion that premiums need to be listed into two categories

    1. Premiums that are correctly priced (or under priced) and therefore a good player to have as one of your initial few premiums

    2. Premiums that are over priced and therefore a good players to have in your sights as one of your upgrades later on in the season

With that in mind it’s difficult without knowing their starting price for next year BUT i’m going to assum their starting price is similar to their finishing price. If you are a stats guru and know of this to be an unfounded method, please howl me down and enlighten us all …

    OVERS …… (?)
    Swan (?)
    Jack
    Mumford
    Bruce
    Burgoyne (?)

    UNDERS …… (?)
    Ablett (?)
    Chappy (BIG UNDERS)
    Petrie
    Goodes
    Montagna
    NDS
    Hodge
    Sandi
    Bartel
    Cooney
    Brown
    Lake

Just some random scribblings from a SC on withdrawals. Would love to hear others thoughts and dissertations on these names.
