FPL GW9 Wash-Up

Written by MJ on October 31 2014

SCT Manager of the Round: James Carter, St Jimmy: 69 points
SCT League Leader: Adam Brady, Awkward Science: 29th overall

Goalkeepers:
Another week, another clean sheet for Forster (£5.2m) still sees Southampton concede just five goals in the 9 matches so far. The next best defensive record is Chelsea with nine conceded. Fabianski (£5.1m) has elevated himself into 3rd on the GK list, collecting seven points against Liecester. Rob Green (£4.5m) is the most in-form of the budget keepers, with nine points on the weekend after six saves and a bonus point to accompany his clean sheet against Aston Villa.

Defenders:
Leighton Baines (£7.2m) has an incredible form-line behind him, picking up either a goal/assist in six of his last seven fixtures. He now has the fourth most assists (6) in the league behind Fabregas, Tadic and Sigurdsson. No other defender has more than two. If you can raise the capital, jump on board and enjoy the returns. Jose Fonte could be the main you’re after if in need of a Southampton defender. He picked up another two bonus points on the weekend and seems to be the most likely to be awarded them of the Saints’ back four with 7 for the season.

Midfielders:
It was all about Alexis Sanchez (£10.4m) this week with another two-goal, 16-point MOTM performance against Sunderland, making it 29 points in two weeks for the Chilean. Investors have been jumping off him in droves after being hugely hyped in pre-season. Those who have stuck fat are being duly rewarded, as just Fabregas (£9.7m) has more points in midfield.

Forwards:
The 372,000 managers who brought Aguero (£12.6) in last week saw him blank in Man City’s shock loss to West Ham. Graziano Pelle (£8.3m) continues to get the job done with another assist, returning him to the top of the pile in terms of total points for the season. Saido Berahino (£5.9m) continues to provide super value for money with five goals in four games for West Brom. Charlie Austin (£5.7m) is another budget striker in a rich vein of form, slotting both goals for QPR on Tuesday morning. Can someone find Leonardo Ulloa (£5.6m)? He’s now failed to score in four straight games after being the best thing since sliced bread in the early rounds, with five goals in the first five weeks.

  1. Great write up MJ. Fraser Foster is a great call. Ex Newcastle 2nd reserve & then Celtic keeper has been tremendous & after following his career his form so far is not a flash in the pan.
Got Baines in 2 weeks ago, must have defender for me now Everton have reasonable line up of games.
