FPL SCT League GW5, 2013

Written by MJ on September 27 2013

We’re about to roll into GW6 and it will surely prove testing times for a lot of managers. Injuries have ravaged many a squad over the last fortnight, including big names in Van Persie, Walcott and Benteke. Let’s take a look at how the members of SCT are handling it:

Heavy Zee still leads the group and remains entrenched in the top 3,000 overall. With Benteke his only injury concern, you’d expect him to push on and increase his lead. Monty Doodah continues his solid form in 2nd place. Footy Fan is demonstrating he’s a fan of all codes, as one of the big movers this week up into 3rd place.

  1. I’ve pulled the trigger on two of my injured stars:

    OUT: Walcott, Benteke
    IN: Ozil, Lukaku

Also, Luis Suarez’s (10.9m) suspension period is now over. Are you including him in your trade plans?

  2. Was a good week for my side, basically just let MJ do the hard yards an then took his advice, but then made the rookie mistake of not updating my side and left Eriksen on the bench, This week is a no brainer… Walcott to Özil, leaves me with…

    Mignolet*. (Davis)
    Mertesacker, Coleman*, Baines*, Zabaleta. (Baker)
Özil, Barkley, Yaya Touré*, Eriksen. (Nolan)
    Giroud*, Sturridge*. (Anelka)

Captaincy seems to be my biggest headache each week.

  3. I jumped on the Ramsey bandwagon this week… Stupidly ignoring the early reports of Benteke’s injury thinking I can just bench him for a week!

Have just read that Ramsey has a thigh strain so needs to pass a fitness test before travelling to Wales!!!! Great!!

Wenger believes he will be ok and will travel to Swansea… but I reckon he may not be a starter, especially if Arteta gets the nod… Flamini may be the DM and Arteta to push up further.

Already took a 4pt for last week, to bring in Mignolet (I know! About time!!) for the forever injured Stekelenburg! Had a feeling Begovic would score low against the Arsenal… Which he did.

With Per, Ramsey & Ozil on my team, I sadly cannot bring in Giroud who would be the obvious replacement for Benteke!

T/U take a 4pt hit this week (2wks in a row) and bring in say Sturridge (or another forward worth £9.8m or less… Eto’o, Negrado, Remy, etc.?)

T/D Wait till next week and hope Soldado & Lambert score this week!

On a brighter note, Paul Lambert is hopefully that Benteke’s injury isn’t as bad as first thought and that there is a possibility he will back earlier than 6wks… maybe straight after the international break… If this happens, the I really need Soldado & Lambert to hit a purple patch for the next 2 weeks so I can hold onto Benteke!

    GO HAWKS!!
