Where and when: TIO Traeger Park, Sunday July 21, 2.50pm ACST
What it means for Melbourne: There’s still a small element of redemption at stake for Melbourne after being thumped by West Coast in last year’s preliminary final. A top-four scalp would restore confidence after a rough season.
What it means for West Coast: The Eagles let one slip last week against Collingwood. With quite a few winnable games to come, Alice Springs could be the launching pad for a top-two finish.
The stat: Just five AFL games have been played at Traeger Park, featuring four sides: Melbourne (which has hosted all five), Port Adelaide (three), Gold Coast and Adelaide (one apiece). Sunday will be West Coast’s first game at the venue.
The match-up: Steven May v Josh Kennedy
Having now played four games since returning from a long-term groin injury, May (No.294 in the AFL Player Ratings) is in hot form and is likely to take Kennedy (ranked 173) in a battle of the heavyweights.
It’s a big week for: Angus Brayshaw
Has struggled this season, playing more on the wing rather than the middle of the ground and was limited to just 12 disposals against the Western Bulldogs by a corkie. Brayshaw had 37 last time he played in Alice Springs.
Father Dougal’s Tip: West Coast by 24 points.

Hurn a late out
Thank god. Top 100 here I come!!!
On ya TR.
The sort of thing can make or break you 🙂
FUSH
Really going to hurt me this week!!
Captain :
TU: Gawn
TD: Marshall
I loopholed Smith in defence so Logue is just sitting there and I can’t get him on field. Was sitting ranked 39th, this donut will hurt 🙁
Same here – not sure why you would get down votes – poor form from those that have. It will cost me various H2H’s and also my OA position
That’s the risk of the loophole
Interested in the community’s opinion on this one… At what point do Melbourne consider sacking their coach or some other drastic action?
Many had them as a top 4 team and title contender and after today’s game will likely be in second last on the ladder, protected from the wooden spoon only by the Gold Coast who are a basket case.
Their list is decent with good defenders, gun ruck and good midfielders. Not much up forward but still shouldn’t be anywhere near where they currently are.
Thoughts?
Goodwin just played Brayshaw as a tagger.
Enough said- he’s gotta go.
Thanks for the massive final quarter Yeo-Yeo, it’s been a pretty dirty day overall but that was nice
Gawn coming through with the goods 130+ to somewhat make up for not VCing Grundy
