Game Chat – Adelaide v Port Adelaide

Written by Thommo on July 6 2019

Where and when: Adelaide Oval, Saturday, July 6, 4.05pm ACST

What it means for Adelaide: It’s a chance for the Crows to stay in touch with the top four, while putting themselves two games clear of the Power in the race towards the finals.

What it means for Port Adelaide: Hurting after last weekend’s shock loss to the Western Bulldogs, Showdown 47 carries extra weight for the Power, with tough games against Brisbane, Richmond and Greater Western Sydney in the next month.

The stat: The Crows have won seven of the past eight encounters with the Power to take an overall lead of 24-22 in the 46 meetings between the two South Australian clubs.

The match-up: Daniel Talia v Charlie Dixon

Talia is the Crows’ No.1 key defender in the Official AFL Player Ratings, up against Dixon, the Power’s premier key forward (198th). Dixon is returning to his best ahead of his third game back from missing 10 months with a badly broken leg.

It’s a big week for: Ken Hinkley

The Power coach publicly called his side out after last weekend’s loss to the Bulldogs, labelling it untrustworthy and unreliable. Hinkley will be demanding a torrid response against the cross-town rival, with the Power’s season hanging in the balance.

Thommo’s Tip: Adelaide by 10 points.

  1. T/U: Get Lycett and play at R2, Setterfield at F6 and have to sit Gawn if he does play
T/D: Get Marshall and play in the forwards and get a donut if Gawn pulls out

      1. the one line I can’t cover fully is my FWDs – but only 1 forward – Boak. I have coverage on all the other lines, and setterfield can cover any of my forwards … but Boak … cruel game.

    1. With Gawn looking unlikely I bought in Westhoff for Setters.

      He is sitting at R3.

Lycett back out there for now.

  12. It’s going to be an interesting battle to see who are the top 6 forwards this year
    At the start of the round;
    Boak – 1584
    Dunkley – 1507
    Kelly – 1504
    Walters – 1431
    Daniel – 1430
    Danger – 1409
    Mundy – 1317
    Billings – 1315
    Lycett – 1305
    Heeney- 1305
    Marshall – 1301
    Cameron, Ziebell, Hawkins

Daniel done, Boak our this week and Danger under the cloud.
    Lycett – interesting
Could Heeney be making a run?
    Marshall – solid

Might be time for a poll?

  13. Finally the Hoff is starting to deliver after grabbing him instead of Dunkley in RD8. Hopefully Gawn misses so I can get Westhoff’s score as he is currently situated at R3.

      1. Thanks allsaints. Had to deal with Daniel this week after grabbing him 3-4 rounds ago so grabbed D Mundy and traded X Duursma for S Hurn. Also grabbed Gawn in Rd14 so annoyed with his injury but able to cover it by switching the Hoff to R3 and W Setterfield to F6.

3 trades left and 180,000 remaining and planning to turn Hately into Hawkins/Menegola etc and keep Setterfield.

  14. Milera had a nice, SC-friendly half-back role until the week I brought him in. Since then he’s been playing forward. Bloody Pyke…

I swear coaches do this kind of thing deliberately!
