Game Chat – Adelaide vs Hawthorn

Written by Thommo on June 22 2017

Venue: Adelaide Oval at 7:20pm ACST

LAST FIVE TIMES
R2, 2017, Adelaide 16.17 (113) d Hawthorn 13.11 (89) at the MCG
R5, 2016, Hawthorn 17.10 (112) d Adelaide 17.7 (109) at the MCG
2SF, 2015, Hawthorn 21.9 (135) d Adelaide 8.13 (61) at the MCG
R12, 2015, Hawthorn 17.12 (114) d Adelaide 12.13 (85) at Adelaide Oval
R17, 2014, Hawthorn 15.14 (104) d Adelaide 14.8 (92) at Adelaide Oval

Game notes: Both clubs will be refreshed heading into the final Thursday night game of the season. The bye was the perfect opportunity for the ladder-leading Crows (9-3) to reset after their 57-point thumping of St Kilda in round 12. Defenders Rory Laird and Jake Lever provided plenty of rebound out of the backline, while ruckman Sam Jacobs turned in another superb performance to press his Virgin Australia AFL All Australian credentials. The Hawks (4-8) are coming off a round 12 loss to Gold Coast and are entering a tough part of their schedule where they face the top three sides (Crows, Greater Western Sydney and Geelong) in the next month. Unless they conjure a miracle turnaround, the Hawks will miss the finals for the first time since 2009. On current form, and with their mounting injury list, it’s hard to see the Hawks providing much of a challenge for one of the premiership favourites.

Thommo’s Tip: Adelaide by 50 points.

While we do our best to update posts with end of quarter scores, we aren’t always online so if you have access to the scores and see they haven’t gone into the Comments section of this post, the Community would love it if you could help us out.

  1. Ok, Do i take the punt and bring in Ryan after he is named last on the extended bench by FURL and trade out Roughy for Heeney

On mid bench, no loophole options (other than cousins). Sounds about right.

  5. Methinks I’m going to have to find a way to get Greenwood onto the field. With now loopholing options, I’m going to have to get creative… a lot depends on whether Scott Selwood makes the final team.

    1. Wish I could get Greenwoods score. Would involve some silly moves and it’s not worth the trades 🙁 just going to have to think of the sweet, sweet money.

Easy upgrade to a bonafide premium M9 by the looks of it now.

  8. Will be keeping a close eye on G Birchall for the remainder of the season for a defensive position in Supercoach 2018. An injury affected score of 6 in RD7 will distort his 2018 price thus pricing him between 350,000 and 450,000.

  9. With all due respect to anyone who had 35 possessions or more, how did anyone score more than burgoyne , also CD gurus must be pleased to give Hodgey a
massive 59 points, no impact on game !!! don’t have either in my team , by the way.

  11. Traded in Sloane 3 weeks ago at 590k and has averaged 78 since. This has been the worst trade deal in the history of trade deals, maybe ever.

Could gone to Dusty, Mitchell, Zorko, Neale but no Sloane.

  13. Greenwood and to a lesser extent M Crouch the only shining lights for the Crows.
Milera and Beech definitely won’t be picked next week. Otten also on thin ice.
What a crap night at the Oval it was.
