Game Chat – Brisbane vs Fremantle

Written by Thommo on June 13 2020

Where and when: GABBA, Saturday 13th June at 1:45pm

Last time they met: Fremantle 10.13 (73) defeated Brisbane 10.12 (72) at Optus Stadium, Perth.

What it means for Brisbane: This is meant to be their year to stamp their authority on the AFL, but after a small upset to the Hawks in Round 1, they wouldn’t want to lose this match at home. It won’t take long for a short season to get away from teams!

What it means for Fremantle: There are fewer expectations on Fremantle in 2020 and they were solid against the Bombers at Marvel Stadium in Round 1, but a loss is still a loss. Longmuir will be anxious to chalk up his first victory as head coach and keep in touch with the leading teams.

Thommo Watch: As a Hawks man, I’ll be hoping Grant Birchell gets through his first AFL match as a Lion.

Thommo’s Tip: Brisbane by 15 points

  1. I just traded Dunkley to Neale and Roberston to Bennel and decided to keep Brayshaw hopefully being named on ball means he gets more than 65 mins.

    1. Big call on Dunkley. I expect a 125 average this season. I’ve made him skipper this week should bash up the saints midfield

  2. I’ll be happy with 300 from Neale and Fyfe today.
Probably just broke them both but oh well, still possibly have Bewely running around.

  3. Go Birch…

I snatched him in draft 😉

Pretty chuffed to have the Footy back.

    Go Freo!!

  4. Would hate if you went for Fyfe as captain. On a solid 5 points at Qtr time with Neale on 49

  6. Tom Berry with 47% TOG first quarter. Respectful score for that TOG.
Stef Martin and Mitch Robinson with 54% and 51% TOG as well. Very interesting for those 2 players
Hayden Young has had 89% TOG which is a positive

      1. Ahh so that clears up a reason for one, but Stef started on the bench at the start of the game which seems unusual

        1. Still working his way back from the PCL, wouldn’t be surprised if they manage his minutes for the first couple of weeks

    1. 11 possessions, two goals and 70 points in the second quarter for Fyfe

Banfield running with Neale towards the end of that quarter

  8. Starcevich doing tremendous after a shocking first round! It drove buyers away so let’s hope it isn’t a 1 off and they miss out on some good cash grow

  9. The 2000+ coaches who traded out Starcevich might be having second thoughts about that decision now.

  10. Darcy with an iced left knee and Stef copped a knock to his knee. Rucks aren’t lucky in today’s game

  11. Not having Neale isn’t great. Doing the right things and is ridiculously effective. Imagine if he had clearances what his score could of been.

  12. Brayshaw is trucking along. Got Neale, Starcevich and Brayshaw in this one.

People with Neale and Fyfe should be happy

  14. Fyfe and Neale on fire, I just keep wondering how Fyfe would be going if he managed to scramble a 20-30 in the first quarter. Would be a decent chance for a double tonne if that was the case

  15. haha, thanks Fyfe and Neale 300pts.
Hopefully now the 3 big dogs can combine for 400… Probably pushing my luck now.

  16. Geeze I wish that Neale was in my team. Not sure if that is a worthy 170 performance but I’d love to have that!
