LAST FIVE TIMES

R19, 2016, Port Adelaide 25.23 (173) d Brisbane Lions 11.13 (79) at the Gabba
R7, 2016, Port Adelaide 21.10 (136) d Brisbane Lions 7.17 (59) at Adelaide Oval
R7, 2015, Brisbane Lions 15.12 (102) d Port Adelaide 8.17 (65) at the Gabba
R4, 2014, Port Adelaide 24.15 (159) d Brisbane Lions 7.4 (46) at Adelaide Oval
R18, 2013, Port Adelaide 9.17 (71) d Brisbane Lions 9.8 (62) at AAMI Stadium

Game notes: Port Adelaide has quietly put together an impressive start to the season, but leaving the Gabba with the four premiership points will be no easy task. Although the Brisbane Lions have a 1-4 win-loss record, they’ve shown a heap of improvement on 2016, most recently pushing the premier Western Bulldogs to the brink before fading in the final 10 minutes. A fit Dayne Beams and rejuvenated Tom Rockliff are leading a hungry midfield, while Harris Andrews and NAB AFL Rising Star nominee Eric Hipwood have made big strides in the key position posts. But the Power will rightfully start favourites and have also made a big leap from last season. Their midfield is deep and the run from defensive 50 is hard to counter. Ken Hinkley’s men are 3-2, and even without injured skipper Travis Boak, should solidify their spot in the eight with a tight win over the Lions.

Thommo’s Tip: Port by 60 points.

While we do our best to update posts with end of quarter scores, we aren’t always online so if you have access to the scores and see they haven’t gone into the Comments section of this post, the Community would love it if you could help us out.

  2. SPP moving along nicely tonight. Reversed trades last night and decided to keep SPP. Sent WHE packing instead only due to the difference in BEs and the desperate need to generate some $$$. Maybe a week early on WHE if he breaks the BE and has a big game, but felt it was necessary for the future of my team.

Now, if only Rocky can show that gigantic snout of his as my VC.

  4. Powell-Pepper sitting there sipping on a Red Bull at half time…

I’d be burping up a storm if I did so.

  5. I’ve been running around for the past three quarters looking for that grub Rhys Mathieson when I could have been racking up touches and scoring supercoach points. Why didn’t anyone tell me that the campaigner wasn’t playing this week?!

    1. Ken can’t have been happy about you running around looking for someone who wasn’t there when you were supposed to be playing football. What excuse did you make when he asked you about it?

      1. I told him that Jasper Mcmillan Pittard had bigger fish to fry on the footy field today. Hutta and the SCT boys were relying on me to clean up Mathieson. Does anyone know the campaigners home address?

      1. Well it’s not like he needs to kick it with his groin, does he? Hell, even handballing would be okay. 10 disposals and 0 tackles in three quarters simply isn’t good enough. If you ignore his three goals, he’s done stuff all this afternoon.

    1. Hombsch back in. Port finally playing with Pittard and Hombsch means Houston will not be as important in the backline.

    1. Who would have thought D.Beams, Rocky, Zorko and Wines would have combined for 240 points.

Going to be some juicy options in a few weeks times.
