Game Chat – Carlton v Richmond

Written by MJ on April 2 2015

The 2015 AFL season kicks off tonight at 7.20pm where the Blues will be looking to upset an improved Richmond line up. The Tigers will be looking to bury their miserable September campaign that came to a shuddering halt at the Portress last year. After winning nine games on the trot Damien Hardwick’s men succumbed to a rampant Port Adelaide by 57 points. A win tonight for the Tigers would go a long way to putting the demons of last season behind them.

As for the Blues, they will be aiming to avenge their Round 2 loss from last season against the Tigers (98-96). Mick Malthouse has been saying all the right things in the pre season pressers; but he’s yet to provide any evidence in his tenure that he is the man Carlton need. A win tonight against Richmond will be a good start, but keep in mind that Carlton lost four of their first five games last season.

Liam Jones (Blues) and Taylor Hunt (Tigers) will both debut for their new clubs. Kamdyn McIntosh, who impressed in the NAB Challenge, will line up on the wing for the yellow and black. Expect this contest to be brutal early on, but the class of Richmond through the middle of the ground should see them get off to a winning start in 2015.

Justin’s tip: Richmond by 14 points.

  2. Only one handball till now, Dusty. In better news, McIntosh has nine touches, looks at home on the HBF. Blues the better team, score flatters Richmond a bit.

  5. What looked like a Carlton domination turned very quickly in Richmond’s favour. Half time couldn’t come quick enough for the Blues.
    Gibbs looking good for Carlton.
McIntosh is Richmond’s best! Once Deledio got his hands on the ball, Tigers came storming back……

  7. How good is it to have footy, and supercoach back?
Loving every minite. Dusty and cripps could get a few more touches to make it better!

  8. This new ruck rule is frustrating – every time your ruckman gets a tap you wonder if it was to advantage.

Maric has a brilliant rapport with Murphy tonight – he’s tapped straight to him more than his own midfielders.

  12. Isnt it strange. I watch as much footy as i possibly can (yes im single because of that), and its not until you have a player in your supercoach side, that you truly know their worth.
Case in point, i selected yarran, believing he would be the go to delivery player.
I just found out in one game that he is undisciplined, poor defensively, and not worth a crock of shite supercoachwise on that performance.
Im tipping it here now. Malthouse is going to have a coriny this year.
Sorry motts, the blues are super average

  13. Bloody dustin Martin! I swore last year, never again!

I know it’s only one game, and he will surely perform better but 51 points from a premium??? Spare me!

  14. Don’t know what’s more worrying. The fact that Lids got reported and subbed off. Or the fact he still scored more than Dusty and Cotch. I know it’s very early and I’ll stick with them but regretting Lids and Dusty right now. Again, hoping McIntosh can go on with it, very impressive debut! Go Tigers!

  15. I had MCINTOSH as emergency, should I trade out N.Brown for a non-rd 1 player say…GODDARD so I get the MCINTOSH points?

  16. Good on you guys who took the ballsy moves to take Hunt, well done. I swapped him for Yarran based on the NAB, never learn!! Also swapped Docherty for Missy so tipping the old CIRCUS is going south given I’ve got Dusty and Cripps as well. Maybe Missy will get 150 LOL

  17. Loving the Taylor Hunt role, pure midfield and at most stoppages.

I know it’s early doors but very happy with this unique midprice option. Thinking Clancee will be similar albeit in a different role.

Is this the year of the midpricer down back with the dearth of good premium and rookie options?

  18. Maric scored a dismal 82 is this the work of the new scoring system for rucks or did maric put in a shocker? I thought he’d get 120+ Up against Cameron wood

  19. Since there was just one game yesterday and none today, I had time for an exhaustive analysis and I have concluded that Richmond won because they had the highest score at the end of the match.

  20. I’m just watching the highlights of this game, whilst waiting for the confirmed teams.

My R1 Maric, doing a great job at tap to disadvantage!!!
