Where and when: Ikon Park, Sunday 8 March, 6.40pm AEDT
Watchlist:
Jack MARTIN (CARL) FWD/MID @ $420,800
Looked fantastic last week; agile up forward with strong bursts through the middle for 75 SC from 45%. Full TOG today up against a strong Brisbane backline should paint a fuller picture.
Sam DOCHERTY (CARL) DEF @ $436,100
Was hard to get a read on him last week as he got a feel for the Blues’ backline and then decked Schultz to let everyone know he’s back. Suspect the Lions to send it into Carlton’s DEF50 a lot today and allow us to see Doc in action.
Brandon STARCEVICH (BRIS) DEF/MID @$147,700
Really need him to impress today, if not we probably won’t see him again this year barring any drastic injuries to the Lions.
Deven ROBERTSON (BRIS) MID @ $117,300
Lions have hyped up the debut of the elite ball-winning, Larke medalist. Holding a spot in one of the most competitive midfields in the competition will be difficult however – strong showing required.
Notable Absentees: Ely SMITH (BRIS).

McCluggage @ M5?
He seems to be underpriced, but is he a keeper? Can you see him being top 10 mid by end of year?
Or does that rule go out with a cupboard bare of cheap rookies?
Why top ten?
If you end the year with five or six of the top eight mids and your others are top fifteen you have done well.
If you take McCluggage now and he finishes top fifteen you have got a lot of points from a solid M8 come the end of the year.
I doubt anyone will end the season with the top eight mids in their team.
True. Can you see him being top 15?
18 teams with the majority of them having at least 1 genuine mid, if not multiple, like the dogs. Neale and zorko both probably ahead SC wise in the lions mids.
I had mc luggage in my initial team, but not quite ready. I don’t have Andrew gaff either and he’s probably the most consistent winger.
Not a keeper, think, Sidebottom, Duncan, Hunter, Gaff.
Really dangerous to start guys that you’ll be “happy” with at M8

… Sam LOCHERTY?!
Ba-dum tss!
But, yes. Reworking my side to get Locherty in.
Defo
Looking forward to next year when Coniglio and Zorko are both MID/FWDs.
Well done to the Aussie cricket girls – totally destroyed India at the MCG (184 – 99) in front of a world record crowd for women’s sport of over 86,000!! Well done to all those that went to watch as well! Awesome Melbourne – supporting sport as always and I’m from Bisvegas!!
Healy and Mooney amazing at the start and just a clinic in the field from the girls. Says something that I am watching this match more and barely flicking in ads to the Marsh practice games!!
Unfortunately we just missed out on the world record (which is a click over 91,000 IIRC), but a great match and spectacle regardless. And, obviously, a great win!
So glad I was there.
Well just goes to show can’t trust the media muppets with their comments eh? Thanks Sal!
Carlton are really bad at football. I predict treating a lot of fingers with burns from melted plastic as their 60,000 members realise they are getting yet another spoon and put a flame to their membership cards.
Genuine shame that we have to watch them in the season opener the AFL need to address that debacle ASAP and schedule a genuine contest to launch the season
What a stupid statement .
Jog on mate
Is it just me or are all the uber premiums getting shafted this week, disposals Vs points?
lot of them taking it easy TOF and having rests etc …
77 for j Martin, I think this is his more his likely numbers
Yup, low possession high impact player, which you love to have on your team but sadly doesn’t translate to SuperCoach.
Okay……….it’s time to vote.

Thoughts of best option, if one of these needs to be R2,
TU English
TD Jacobs
Cheers SCTians
Ha ha, thanks voters.
Any chance of an opinion from both sides to manipulate my judgement?
Think English is still a year away from being a top ruckman as he is still learning the craft. Jacobs has experience and will want to impress his new club.
Jacobs was beaten in the ruck. Look at tog vs hitouts.
Will be a safer option than Naismith, for sure, but he’s not aging well.
And those hitouts are WITHOUT sharing time with Mummy.
His upside is too small for the risk imho. If I was to look at a 300k player at GWS to go cheap to get a 600k player in another line I’d go Hately or Cumming.
Jacobs had only one really good season, and they have changed the ruck scoring system since then.
With Houston copping the end 11 bye, and now the faceplant and messed up nose you have to go Doc instead on this game.
I wouldn’t use the Bye as a reason to not start a port or St Kilda player though you’d only want to start one ‘keeper’.
Why start them when you can just upgrade to them after rd 11?
Because you are banking on them being a keeper and getting them at a discounted price + their extra points.
Dann is correct – it’s not a risk to start one of them … but for me, it would be only 1.
Roberton if you start him would look to sell by his bye. (Unless he is going that big!!)
At that price he’d have top be a keeper
Hey David
Ideally don’t want to many RD 11 players however if you have your sight on a break out or underpriced player then you will pay more and need to use trade and 10 rounds before bye and will give you on valuable field points
