Game Chat – Carlton v St Kilda

Written by Motts on July 2 2020

Where and when: Thursday 7:40pm in a bar in Port Melbourne. You might be watching it at home.

Last time they met:

Saturday August 17, 2019

Carlton 11.12 (78) def St Kilda 10.8 (68) at a rare game between the 2 sides at the ‘G.

What it means for Carlton: An opportunity to win 3 in a row and threaten the Top 8.

What it means for The Saints: He won’t admit it but you just know that Ratts would dearly love to beat his old club. After a strong win over the Tiges last round, he’d love to consolidate.

Mottsy Watch: Brought Jacky Martin into the team because I’m an idiot after a strong showing in Round 3 to watch him score 56 last week. Will have the Mottsy Magnifying Glass on him for this entire match.

Mottsy’s Tip: Carlton by 20. They won’t be letting the Saints get anywhere near as close as they let the Dons get.

  1. I want to bring in Williamson before tonight’s game in case Rivers doesn’t make the Sunday cut.

    Who should I trade out?

    TU – Noble
    TD – Brander

  3. Need a rookie/cheap defender who’s playing. If Rivers doesn’t get up I’ll be getting a donut regardless, but don’t want two donuts.
    TU – Williamson
    TD – Hill

    1. Same Shaggi, Would love him to come out and kick a few! Not just as a saints supporter, but toying with the idea of fielding King over Vandermeer

  10. Is it finally the year of the Steele? I had him in my team the last 2 years. Next round I should bring him in.
TU : yes, nice POD, it is his year
TD: Wouldnt be top 10 mid,

    1. Thinking of AS’ prescient prediction that Steele would become SC relevant!

Certainly looks that way. Tagged out an opponent and still put up 130+, 9 tackles, decent kick to HB ratio. All that concerns me is the inflation of his score by those 5 free kicks.

Not going to be able to afford 8 top shelf MIDs this season. So you might be on to something, Jeannot.

    1. How are you incredulous at that, Nateo?

Two goals, five kicks at 83%, a free kick and two marks. Adds up.

  11. Haha! I had to trade out King to put Brander into FWD to avoid a donut in my DEF. Brought in Williamson. Sums up my season really

    1. You are not alone Kennedy. This year rookies are hit and miss. I thought I missed out on Pickett, brought him in and traded out Green. The only reason King stayed was because he was a lesser issue and better JS. How things Quickly change in SC. I’ll take a rookie who get a big score late any day. it’s good for cash generation.
