Game Chat – Carlton v Western Bulldogs

Written by Father Dougal on July 12 2020

Where and when: Sunday 12th July at 6:45pm (AEST) at Metricon Stadium

Last time they met: Rd 13 2019: Blues 15.510 (100) lost to Bulldogs  15.13 (103)

What it means for the Blues: A win puts them at 3-3 and right in the pack. The Blues sure want to emerge from their eternal rebuild, and thus  make it less eternal. If they can’t beat the Dogs, that;s a bad sign, if they can beat the dogs, that’s a good sign.

What it means for the Bulldogs: The Doggies would sure like to keep up their win streak. After two really bad performances they have had three really good  matches in a row. If they are a top 4 team, they need to be able to Beat the Blues by a not-small margin. If they win they will pull ahead of the pack, and have some serious momentum.

Supercoach Watch:

Carlton: Cripps! Wow has he had a rough start to the season. Docherty, who has had a way smooth start to the season. Pittonet will stay or go from a lot of teams based on how well he does in this match.

Bulldogs: Can English put up a biog score v Pittonet? Can Caleb Daniel keep up the good work? (Well, probably, sure)  Macrae has been struggling by his standards, can he come back vs the Blues? Bailey Smith is back after his early out last week, and even his non-owners are hoping he’s ok.

Father Dougal’s Watch: The Bont. I mean, wow, The Bont. Elliot Yeo looks consistent compared to The Bont this year. Ok, that’s a lie, but The Bont is at least giving Yeo a run for his money. He could scare anywhere from 40 to 200.

Father Dougal’s Tip: Given the Doggies from the last three games, you have to assume they are favorites. While the Blues scored 100 last time they met, the Dogs have kept their last three opponents to under 40, and that included Norf and GWS. While anything is possible with the Dogs, I’d expect another 20-ish point win.

    1. I’m up by 90 points against 50shades in your league and it comes down to Bailey Smith and my 90 point lead vrs Cripps and Vandermeer.

Hoping Smith tons up to get me across the line.

  5. Well, f*ck.

Bont tagged, Macrae AWOL, Cripps in the rooms, Doch one touch. There go my hopes of 2220 lmao!

Rookies Butler and Williamson only thing keeping me from spiraling into SC depression.

        1. Not sure if you need GOLD or not but in SuperCoach go Players, Change Data, Coaches Choice, then you can sort by % C

    1. Don’t worry about it, Tom. Doch and Cripps at 62% and 53% ownership respectively, most are copping it.

I can’t be mad at Doch in particular after 181 a couple weeks ago.

        1. Blues played it smart and let him ride the game out, but even before that his form was poor.

That all said, hard to make a case to burn a trade to sideways him when there’s a new crop of cows and some discounted premo options. We’ll all probably have to hold.
