Game Chat – Collingwood vs North Melbourne

Written by Thommo on July 21 2018

WHERE AND WHEN: MCG, Saturday July 21, 1:45pm AEST

SUMMARY

The urgency increases this week for these finals aspirants, both of whom are smarting from losses last round that were disappointing for different reasons. The Pies, in suffering their first loss in two months at the hands of West Coast at the MCG, missed an opportunity to join league leader Richmond on 12 wins, while an impressive North Melbourne was pipped at the post by Sydney in a thriller. The absence of Collingwood big man Mason Cox was telling, and his availability would boost the Pies enormously. Darcy Moore made an encouraging return in defence and he’ll need to play a key role in limiting the influence of North forwards Ben Brown and Majak Daw. The midfield battle will be pivotal with Roos combination Shaun Higgins and Ben Cunnington taking on Pies skipper Scott Pendlebury and Steele Sidebottom, neither of whom played to their usual lofty standards against the Eagles.

  5. Is it me or does Murray have some form of an impact on Crisp’s scoring? Murray played from round 1-9 and then this game. Crisp started to come good from round 8. Murray comes back this game and then Crisp goes cold and is on 46 at 3/4 time.

Do you think this is a coincidence or Murray has a genuine impact on his score?

    1. Completely genuine. I was keen on crisp in the preseason until I saw the jlt and sam murray steal his role/points.

Was gonna get him in for sicily this week until murray came in and had to change my plans.

  6. North Melbourne’s bottom 6 players badly exposed.
    Turner probably shouldn’t have played.
    LDU had a shocker
    Simpkin had a shocker.
Very good decision by Atley to accept a 3 yr contract as doesn’t give enough and turns it over all too regularly.
Dumont lacks polish and turns it over too much.
Clarke, if your the opposition you are glad to have the ball in his hands
McDonald should be better than his producing now.
Hrovat playing for a new contract and it showed today.
Majak looking good – too bad we couldn’t get it there more often.
I think it might be time for Brad to pluck a couple from the VFL. Hopefully Jacobs and Wood are good for next week
