R8, 2013, Brisbane Lions 14.12 (96) d Essendon 12.14 (86) at Etihad

Game notes: Essendon will have spent this week ruing its one-point loss to Sydney last round, after giving up a 19-point lead with less than five minutes to go. That win would have seen the Bombers push ahead to seven wins ahead of their round 15 clash with the Brisbane Lions. Alas, the Bombers will now go into the game aiming to get their ledger back even against the bottom-placed Lions. Chris Fagan’s men have been in better form of late, but were still easily beaten last week by Greater Western Sydney, who ran out comfortable 10-goal winners. They pushed Essendon in round two, but will be without skipper Dayne Beams this time around, with an AC joint injury ruling him out for around a month. Beams kicked two goals from 33 disposals in the clubs’ clash earlier in the year and will leave a sizeable hole in the Lions’ midfield.

Huttabito’s Tip: Essendon by 30 points.

While we do our best to update posts with end of quarter scores, we aren’t always online so if you have access to the scores and see they haven’t gone into the Comments section of this post, the Community would love it if you could help us out.

  4. Witherden 91 covering Jelwood just terrific. In for Barrett was no-brainer even though it was a week early. Seemed to be huge raps on him on this site.
