Game Chat – Fremantle vs North Melbourne

Written by Thommo on April 24 2021

Where and when: Optus Stadium, Saturday 24th April at 8:15pm (AEST)

Last time they met: R17 2020: Fremantle 15.9 (99) def North Melbourne 5.5 (35) at Metricon

You know the drill: The Blue and White witch’s hats were on the ground and Fremantle ran around them without a sideways glance. No pressure was placed on the Dockers and worryingly the Kangaroo’s best players were McDonald and Higgins who are obviously not playing today.

Match Preview: The Dockers showed real improvement in defeating Adelaide in Adelaide last week and really should clean up the Roos with little effort. That said, North need to start showing some real effort consistently or they might find themselves all playing in the VFL.

Thommo’s Watch:

Fremantle:

Brayshaw is not super-consistent but he’s definitely looking more like a premium midfielder than he ever has before. A few more good games and his ownership will spike.

North Melbourne:

Who is the number 1 forward in Supercoach?

Who would have answered Jack Ziebell 5 weeks ago?

Thommo’s Tip: Fremantle by 40 points. (tipping record 5/15).

  1. Thinking of bringing in L Ryan tonight. My plan was to bring in J Macrae next week (I will have the cash due to cashing out a couple of rookies, one done this week, one for next week), but with Dunkley’s injury, I can afford to get Macrae next week by trading out Dunkley. So with the cash I have now, I can bring in a premium defender (that hasn’t played yet this round) – L Ryan or maybe Short? Dunkley will need to be traded out yes???

TU- Trade out Kos for L Ryan (will still cop a donut in backline)
TD – Trade out L Jones for L Ryan (no donut with Kos at D6)

  2. Took a gamble in tech league, after the calamity with cancelled game last year, and seeing the news (see tweets) about Collingwood having to isolate then i didn’t want to risk captain on Grundy. Switched it Ziebell.

  3. Another FWD injury. Ziebell got smashed and was taken off the ground late in the 4th Q.

So far this round that’s Dunkley, Dusty and now Ziebell that have picked up injuries. Hoping Ziebell’s isn’t too bad.
