Where and when: The Cattery, Saturday August 24, 4.35pm AEST
What it means for Geelong: Contending for top spot. Reliant on Brisbane losing to Richmond, the Cats can claim the minor premiership with a win. After a rollercoaster run of matches since the bye, it’s also crucial for momentum into the finals.
What it means for Carlton: Another big scalp on the road. Imagine the summer at the Blues if they were to end Geelong’s hopes of a home qualifying final and make it seven from 11 under David Teague.
The stat: 1996. The last time Carlton won at Kardinia Park. After returning to the venue last year, it’s just the second time the Blues have played in Geelong since 1997.
The match-up: Zach Tuohy v Kade Simpson
Former teammates in defence at the Blues for six years, it’ll be entertaining viewing on Saturday. Chris Scott suggested the experiment of Tuohy as a forward would extend to a second week. Simpson showed why he was set to re-sign for an 18th season last week with another vintage display against St Kilda.
It’s a big week for: Cameron Guthrie
Rarely given full-time tagging jobs but is the Cats’ midfielder most likely to get individual jobs throughout matches. With the prospect of Patrick Cripps looming this week, Guthrie will have plenty of tape to sort through before Saturday.
Big call: Levi Casboult to spend significant minutes in the midfield meaning he’ll have played in all SC positions this year.
Mottsy’s (very biased) Tip: Carlton by 5 points

Hmm wish I had of read this before I put my bet on. Backed geel 40+ and rich 40+ In a multi.
Go cats!!!
final week of home & away
usually the worst for punters backing favorites
ladder positions are pretty much set &
the favorites just don’t want to cop injuries before finals
I did think of that….. after I put the bet on. The law of stats would suggested I’ll pick a winner at some stage. Let’s hope it’s this weekend.
part one seemingly done 😉
on to the G.
I like it
NO LATE CHANGES
FINAL INTERCHANGES
Geelong: Quinton Narkle, Lachie Henderson, Cam Guthrie, Gryan Miers
Carlton: Nic Newman, David Cuningham, Will Setterfield, Josh Deluca
Would love for Carlton to beat the Cats. It’d be hilarious and really prime the Blues for a big off-season. Not to mention the small side benefit that it would open up 1st spot for West Coast…
Sorry gd. I can’t tu that. Go cats.
Only time I’ll ever accept a T.D from you lol.
Need Mitch Duncan to have a big game, one of only five point of differences in my GF matchup in SCT3.
started well with 5 touches, but has now gone to the bench with a sore shoulder. fingers crossed he’s ok!
Got the vc on danger. If u could out do grundys score that would nice
Starts with a goal for ya, Sam.
Tossed up all day re the v….Goldy or Gawn. Lets just say go big skipper Danger !!
Go Setters. 150 would be nice, so I can bench Greene and use my last trade on something else!! 😉
#daretodream
you doing the scores PJ?!
I can get em if you and PJ are busy, AS.
must be back at work. will post HT and FT scores.
Alright, ty. I’m around to do the two games later tonight.
Great thanks. I’ll probably be in bed. Long day/week!
You know you have a home-ground advantage when the wind blows your way in the first quarter, then turns around and blows the exact opposite direction in the second!
We have storm from the X-men on the payroll. Don’t tell anyone.
Hopefully we can peg this lead back slightly in the second half… otherwise I can see the headline now:
DERAILED: Teague Train crashes in Geelong.
Honestly, Jack, I wouldn’t be too upset. It’s Geelong, in Geelong, and they want to re-assert themselves as the #1 team going into the finals.
Blues have had a constructive season imo. Not fun to see your team get pumped, granted, but some savvy recruiting and a big post season should set you up nicely for 2020. I’d be optimistic if I were a Blues supporter.
Chin up!
couldn’t agree more. have shown enough already 😉
bring on 2020 if i were a Blues supporter
Speaking of 2020, have you guys signed Ratten yet?
Nope 🙁
They’re going to appoint Brad Scott, aren’t they? Hopefully they see sense and give Ratts the keys.
Thanks, GD. I’m not too upset. I was cautiously optimistic heading into today, but I was bracing myself for the possibility that something like this might happen. They’re going hard at it in the second half, so that’s all I can really ask for.
Yep. 17 entries to 4 in the third quarter your way, just couldn’t convert. Good signs nevertheless.

thank the SC gods I benched Hawkins in my TECH TEam
and keep it up Tommy STEWART and SETTERS in the real deal
He’s done it. Sam Walsh has the most disposals ever in a debut season.
Tom Hawkins is the most useless weak as piss piece of shit since the brilliant Laurence Schache!
CD is down. Scores frozen on the 17th minute of Q3.
just kicked back in GD 😉

Ablett has turned back the clock. 160 at the moment
Could be forward eligible next season.

thank you Thomas STEWART!
Danger finished on 156. Pulled me outta the shit big time.
2 things I’ve learnt this weekend.
1. Never take the vc of gawn or Grundy when they play early in the round.
2. Danger is worth the price at the start of the year.
Amen
He gave his jumper away what a nice man
For context: somebody in the aisle next to the players’ race had a sign saying “Daisy, can I please have your jumper?” (or words to that effect). Daisy saw the sign, and obliged. Great stuff.
Yeah that’s pretty good of him. The players do give a lot
Love Daisy. A good mate’s cousin. Funny and a gentleman.
I thought the sign had the wrong number… 37? Maybe just badly drawn 😀
