Game Chat – Geelong v Collingwood

Written by Thommo on February 26 2016

Simmonds Stadium at 7:10pm.

WHAT DO WE WANT TO SEE?

Geelong: Danger! What else?

Collingwood: Aish playing in the midfield!

SUPERCOACH WATCH

Geelong: Cowan, Cockatoo and Menegola head the Geelong rookie-price watch but it will also be interesting to see Blicavs’ role and how Smith and Stanley ruck together.

Collingwood: Tom Phillips is the buzz-rookie at Pie park but unfortunately we will have to wait to see how the midfield is structured with Pendlebury not playing tonight.

Who is on your Supercoach radar?

  1. I’ll be watching Motlop, Bartel, Cockatoo and Duncan. I’ve got Motlop as a smoky at the moment figuring he’ll benefit with Stevie J’s departure and some of the cheap goal assists he used to cash in on. But I also heard from a mate his preseason fitness was questionable…

  2. Brad’s game notables:
    – cracking game, 250+ points scored which means it was pretty free-flowing and little defence. Pies huge 3rd qtr set up the win. both team seemed to be going pretty tall as we’ve seen over most games.
    – big Cox will be looking very likely for a round 1 game and Jessie white less so.
    – de goey was a star in the middle for the pies. Smith looks a likely player and Aish went alright.
    – danger played well for his first game and kicked 3 goals, I think.
    – menegola looks to have a knee injury of sorts (catta above has said it’s a PCL).
    – zac Smith played pretty well and rotated with Stanley and vardy. I think they combined for 4 goals in the end.

  7. I didn’t see entire game but Aish didn’t impress. Is he best 22?

I liked Adams and Blicavs early and Sidebottom reminded us all what a ball magnet he is! Duncan was in early versions of my team and I will have to consider him again if he continues playing a similar role.

  8. See a few different posts on Duncan on a few sites, suggesting that Danger & Selwood will take points off Duncan, they play very different roles better clearance players in the team is only good for Duncan.

  9. Every year I end up going template and pretty much have the same team as everyone this year thinking outside the square is it completely stupid to go real
Low in the ruck department for example Currie and cox (if he plays) of lobbe and Currie for example. That way splashing all the cash around the midfield and look to upgrade rucks by round 10-11 ?
    Stupidity or brilliance ?

  10. Great effort by Zac Smith.

Gotta seriously wonder what the future holds for Vardy and Stanley.

Bit of bad luck by young Menegola… again.

Keeping an eye on Menzel, Macarthy and Fasolo.

Not really ANY defenders of note in NAB yet.
